  1. I use to really look forward to holidays.....it usually meant a get together with friends and family, lots and lots of food, a few cocktails (and possibly a few more, depending on the holiday...hehe), and just a general opportunity to cut loose and splurge a bit. It is different for me now since being banded. This year, as always, the 4th of July is at my house, the destination of choice as safe, sane fireworks happen to be legal in my city. So, I usually go all out planning and preparing for the meal of the day--ribs, tri tip, wings and ALL the fixins, several deserts, appetizers and overall THE WORKS. This year it was just not the same, every purchase I made was a health conscious one--I thought about the nutritional value in all my food choices and tried to avoid those things that are ridiculously high in fat and calories. I even skipped over the "unneccessary" items and alcohol all together. I am feeling a little sad and dissapointed --completely mourning food, or the lack of. I am Filipino for goodness sake, and growing up , food was a huge part of our culture and get togethers!!! Holidays will never be the same...... P.S. On the bright side, I dropped another pound today. That is 9 pounds since my last fill, YAH!!
  2. My DSL line is soooooo slow.....the pictures will not ever download!! ........and its killing me, I want to see pix!!! : Guess I will just have to take your guys word for it...
  3. Ok, I think I am calling it a night. I am at 15102. Today I forgot to put it on untill 11:30am. Tomorrow I will catch you Kimmy!!!

  5. I think 10 pounds is wonderful!! I only lost 7 pounds during my liquid phase, and didn't lose anything for 5 weeks after that!! Don't worry, you are doing great!! =D> Ya know what they say--Anything lost during this time is a bonus, it is really a period of healing. (I know, I know....this doesn't help, but its true)
  6. I tried gum for the first time today since my surgery and had no problems. I only chewed 1 piece though. I think you will be fine, chew away!!
  7. My NSV's: -I was able to put on an old pair of shorts that are Junior size 7!!!! A little tight, but in about 5-7 more pounds they will fit perfectly -I am starting to see muscles on my biceps and triceps--yeah!! -I am more toned now, have more muscle, so I can now fit into clothes that I wore when I was about 10 pounds lighter than I am now!!
  8. Can I join?? I just put on pedometer an hour ago and went for a walk. I am at 5461 steps right now. I was wearing a dress today and couldn't figure out where to attach the pedometer...no belt, no nothing--simple dress. I was thinking about attaching to my collar?? Any ideas? And, when I go to the gym?? I am on the elliptical for 3 miles and then circuit training, sometimes stooped over and sideways...how do you think it will record? Oh well, I will give it a try and see what happens tomorrow... Good steppin' tomorrow ladies!!!
  9. Thanks for sharing Mona!!! Dr. Miranda told me to eat protein first too--and I have no problems with meat.
  10. You're welcome!! I haven't finished the tally for June yet, I will do it tonight. Should we start another challenge for July??? It sounds like you want to, and I definately need it to keep me accountable......Anyone else interested?
  11. This is amazing to me too!! It goes against everything I read and have been told.....hmmm....but I did just started logging my food and exercise on myfitnesspal.com and it says that I only need about 40 grams of protein a day as opposed to the 80 grams of protein that I believed previously. I am so confused.... :scratch_one-s_head:
  12. Since my last fill, my band is very tight in the morning so its easier to have a shake in the morning as my meal. I use the EAS premium protein powder and blend it with ice, skim milk and sometimes a half of a banana. It's like a milkshake, but with 27 grams of protein, it helps me meet my quota for the day I feel like its a treat....and it fills me up. It's a win-win situation.
  13. Welcome back!!! You did great by only gaining 4 pounds! Last year when I was in the Mayan Rivera (Adventura Spa Palace) I gained 11 pounds in 10 days, amazing huh? It's the "all inclusive" deal that got me. After all, I felt like I had to get my money's worth of the fabulous food and liquor.....hehe. The only time in the my life when I am drinking by the pool by 10am sharp.....All I remember from my trip is "dos Miami Vices por favor" (Just in case the waitress didn't get back before I was done with the first one....hehehe ) Well, I am glad you back on track, you will lose those 4 pounds in no time--this is where the band really come in handy!!!
  14. June 29th - Bike ride 60 minutes June 29th - Swimmming 30 minutes
  15. June 28th - Hike 7 hours (Strawberry peak).....was the hike from he**!!!! OMG, it was suppose to be only a 4 hour, 7 mile hike. Only the last mile was suppose to be killer, straight up-- Well, let me tell you, everything went wrong. So we were out there from 10am to 7pm. I came out of it a little dehydrated, very hungry, a bit sun burnt, and a lot wiser!!! I am exhausted...... But, I survived!!!
  16. June 26th - Elliptical (30 minutes) & Circuit Training (45 minutes) June 26th - Run (45 minutes) I may still be able to make my challenge for this month!! I have 5 more sessions and 4 more days.....I can do this!!!! :good3:
  17. June 25th - 60 minutes elliptical & 30 munutes circuit training June 25th - 60 minute run/walk
  18. Yeah, I gave up on my goal of 155 by July 4th as well...... that was a bit steep to begin with. I thought by some miracle that the pounds were going to start flying off once I got a fill, then I got a second one, and still losing very, very slow. Oh well -- it really does suck.
  19. I think I asked Dr. Romero this question when I was banded. He said it is possible to fill a 4cc band up to 5 cc's. So don't worry Ute, you have plenty of space for more fill. How is your restriction now? You probably will only need little tweeks from now on.
  20. Ok ladies, I updated our tallies. This is our last week to meet our challenges. So, hang in there --even if you don't think you will make your challenge, let's make an effort to do our very best!!!
