  1. Sabrina, you look amazing!!! Congratulations on making it to the end of the hike - what a great feeling that must have been!!!! You go girl!!!
  2. Wahooooo! Congratulations and welcome aboard! =D>
  3. Oh lord Stormy I felt awful just reading about it!!!! I hope you are okay now! I am so freaked out about this happening...and I am sure it will because I know I eat way too fast (even when I think I'm eating slower)...eeekkkk....I guess I haven't fully "arrived" in lapband land until I truly experience this! I get my first fill in a couple of weeks...we'll see how long before I am writing about my own awful experience!
  4. Wow Dave, you said it so perfectly and I am sure you have helped more than one person feel at ease with the decision...I absolutely and 100% couldn't agree more with everything - I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!
  5. I was banded with another fella in August...and I work with a banded fella so they are definitely out there! Glad to have you onboard! :-h
  6. I took my laptop and was so glad to have it! Loved your comment about giving birth...that is exactly what I told my mum..."I gave birth to a 10 pound baby with no drugs at all, this is a breeze!"...and it was! Good luck, do let us know how it went!!!
  7. Love that cartoon! I am having issues not over-eating...I think I am stopping before it's too late but then I have a stomach ache all night and often end up taking a Gravol because I feel like I am going to be sick. I have some restriction since surgery as I cannot eat as much as I used to and a couple of times I have thought I was going to PB but nothing comes up...just hurts (it is always starchy food that does it). Last night I had what I think was a sliming incident...not nice. I still need a fill though as I can still eat too much so I am going back to the OCC on October 12th (will I be able to see Dr. O when I go, does anyone know?)...but man, I am having a hard time NOT eating too much!!!!!! AAAaaaghhhhh
  8. Ahhh a pool, I wish!!! But not up here! I am going to take my dogs out for a good walk then I have a serious cleaning of the house scheduled. I am also going through my clothes as everything is falling off - Wahooo!!!! Then off to get groceries as I am having my best friend from junior high school come over tomorrow - we haven't seen each other in almost 30 years!!! A day of pampering is scheduled for both of us so I will work hard today. Have a great weekend everyone!
  9. Nicole, you are such an inspiration and your attitude is so great - thanks for sharing with us and letting us know that regardless of this "hiccup" you would do it again...it makes the whole thing a little less scary!
  10. Thanks Lisa for reminding me why I did this in the first place, because had I not...I was pretty much setting myself up for worse problems.
  11. Oh my gosh Nicole, I am so very sorry to hear that you have to go through having it removed and especially sorry for all the suffering you went through! Do you know why you were having all those problems after having the band for as long as you did? When did the problems start and what were your symptoms? Is Dr. O removing it? How much does that cost? Sorry for all the questions, I just feel like I should know what can happen... Congratulations on that huge weight loss, you are definitely an inspiration!!!! This freaks me out as I am just starting my journey...I am so very sorry you have had to suffer
  12. Being a new bandster I still have oodles to learn but this whole slipping thing freaks me out...can someone tell me and the other new bandsters out there what are the things that causes a band to slip and what are the symptoms...I would greatly appreciate knowing this! Thanks!
  13. Congratulations Vicki!!! I can't wait to see those numbers on the scale....I think I will faint!!
  14. McCracken, huge congratulations to you!!! You are such an inspiration to those of us that need to lose over 100 pounds as it seems almost an impossible goal!
  15. Shelby, you look fantastic, you go girl!!!
  16. Sabrina, thank you for those words!!! I have printed your message off and will refer to it over the months...thank you!!!! PS...love the new pic - you look amazing!
  17. I had a lot of swelling - looked like I was at least 6 months preggers the next day!!! I was pretty shocked the next morning as the shirt I wore to the clinic was now very tight and I needed an extender on the plane on the way home I was so swollen! I was also very bruised...so not to worry about that. It is almost 3 weeks since I had it done and the swelling and bruising are completely gone now.
  18. I asked Dr. O if there was a surgical procedure after the banding to have the so-called panties removed!!! I still don't understand why we have to wear them - the cover NOTHING!!!!
  19. I found my heating pad to be the only way I could get relief from the port pain and help me to sleep!!! Had the thing strapped to me the first 2 weeks!
  20. Congratulations Andy! I was banded on August 19th, just finishing up my liquid diet...the first week is by far the worst - you can do it and this is an awesome place to come for encouragement and support! Looking forward to hearing about your progress!
  21. Holy cow! You don't even look like the same person Holly! You are such an inspiration!!!! Congratulations!!!
  22. Hi Julie, I just wanted to let you know that I had a reduction done in 1997 and it was the best decision I have ever made! The recovery was challenging at times but all in all it went very well...most of my challenges afterward were in my head as there is an EXTREME amount of swelling afterwards and I had nothing more than two tiny "bumps" when I came out of surgery...I was a DD and seriously, I couldn't even fill a training bra after!!! I went from having envy issues of gals with "normal size breasts" to panicing that I had made a horrible mistake! No worries though, it was all due to swelling (as my doctor assured me several times, but I couldn't believe they would stay tiny bumps, it was such an extreme from before!). It took a fair amount of time for the major initial swelling to go down and my doctor was right - it was a good year before the girls "settled" to where they are now...don't lose hope and don't panic...it is normal! The post-operative binding is a hassle but you have to do it...I promise it will all be worth it in the end. You will have extensive bruising as well...it was my first surgery ever and I was completely shocked at how bad I looked right after...never saw a body bruise like that before...but that too does go away. I didn't really do anything prior to the surgery except try to lose weight and take multi vitamins.... Congratulations!!! If I had to I would do it again in a heartbeat! You will feel like running through the streets topless with your new perky girls - after years of lugging around big boobs I was beyond thrilled when everything healed up and I could see my new chest!!!
  23. Yay!!! Congratulations girl! That is so exciting - I am landlocked in the prairies but I can't wait to get to Lulu for a new outfit - you go girl!!! =D>
  24. Yes, I brought my mini notebook down and had internet access with no problems at all...just plugged it in and was on my way!
