Hey Red, how are you doing? How did you find the 21 day liquid diet? I am hoping I am not spending crazy amounts of time in the loo as we only have one at work and it is downstairs...and usually full! You must be so excited to be starting food tomorrow! Congratulations! Are you nervous about that first swallow? That is what is freaking me out!!!

Wow, how interesting! I am so glad to hear how well things have turned out for you Chloe! Keep up the good work! I am getting banded next week and starting to think about lots of different things in regards to how I eat. Like you (and many others on here I am sure) I am a food addict...it is every bit as serious and hard to recover from like any other addiction...maybe even harder since we can't just give it up altogether!! I wonder if I will dream of food too...I found that so interesting what you both said! I can see waking up in a panic worrying I ate something too soon! This is such an amazing forum - learn so many valuable things on here and just to know so many others have walked this path is a great comfort! Can't wait till I cross over and join you all in bandland!!!!

Thanks for the great info...and lucky for me to have such a smart son - I should be up and running now....

How to add a ticker to your signature...
DixyChixy1966 replied to MamaMichelle's topic in Forum Policies & Technical Help
Thanks for those great instructions...I just can't get it to show a picture instead of all the code - has anyone else had this problem? I also can't get my signature to work...grrrrrrrr Thanks Jen -
Very good point! I think I will be talking to my pharmacist about all of this! Jen
-
Did you pick that up at the pharmacy? Geez, I have to find one of those! Thanks for that idea! Jen

Hi, good to know! Unfortunately I cannot stop my medications and am really nervous about getting them down! I have 4 pills each day...lord I am not sure what I am going to do.. Jen
-
Hi everyone, I am doing the countdown and now my head is racing with questions! I am on regular medication and am worried about being able to swallow it (all pills) right after surgery. Has anyone else had to take pills right after? Thanks in advance for any advice - I really appreciate it! Jen 12 days to surgery

Omg Nicole, I am so sorry you have to go through all of this! I really hope things turn around in short order - it sounds like this has been a really difficult period of time. I am getting my band on the 19th and swing between being completely elated to completely terrified of life immediately after... As far as I understand the first week is clear fluids followed by a week of full liquids then onto mushy/runny stuff but maybe someone else will enlighten both of us if I am incorrect. I notice you are from Okotoks - I am in Airdrie, so nice to see a familiar location on here! Who do you go to for fills? It was my understanding we could go to Descouteaux (spelling?) but that he is leaving now. I have also heard Dr. Mitchell isn't so great and that Dr. Botha doesn't accept patients from Mexico...I would be really interested in hearing from you regarding all of this. I really hope you are feeling better soon Nicole! Jen :-h

Of course it is okay! We are all in the same boat so to speak! I should really learn how to download a picture and some of the fancy status stuff the others have...I am just NOT inclined like that so it is a struggle lol Do you know about when you will be able to have the surgery? Jen :-h -

I also wanted to add Angelo that if you have any questions feel free to ask me - I have spent the last year doing nothing but reading about this and talking to people so if I can help you in any way just let me know! Jen -

So you aren't going to OCC then? Having it local? I wish I could do it up here but I would still have to fly across the country and it would cost twice as much so...it was a pretty simple decision. I was originally scheduled to have it done last September but due to problems with my stomach ulcers I had to put it off....I can't believe that exactly 2 weeks today I will be banded! I am excited and nervous...keep me posted with your progress for sure! Jen -

Hi, my BMI started out at 55...I have since lost weight and am down to a BMI of 46...I am getting banded on the 19th of August and cannot wait!!! Back in the day (before I knew about the band) I considered gastric bypass but the more I learned about it I found it just wasn't for me...I don't like the idea of reinventing my insides! My g/f had the band last year and has had no problems (she ended up getting pregnant and had to unfil but is starting over again with me now) and I work with both a female and male that had the band in 2008 and both are doing fantastic without any "issues"... I say go for the band for sure!!! From what I have seen personally, this is the best and safest choice...congratulations on your decision to go the safer route....I look forward to hearing how it all goes for you! Jen -
You look fantastic! Congratulations!

DixyChixy1966 replied to bMEagain's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks Jazzy, I am right on track then! Since I booked my surgery the end of March I have lost over 40 pounds so I am off to a good start and feeling very motivated...although the closer it gets the more nervous I am getting (I've only had 1 previous surgery) but expect that is normal...can't wait to join you all on the other side! Good luck on your surgery too!! Jen -

Hi Jazzy, can you please tell me what you did to "prepare" ahead of time as I am going in on the 19th and am concerned about the gas pains. Thanks! Jen -

Wow, never really thought of it as the "farewell tour" but I think you have hit the nail on the head! I cannot imagine eating just small portions and being okay with it...all I know is to gorge myself! lol Thanks everyone for your words of support and encouragement - I really appreciate them! Jen -

Wow, thanks everyone - it is so awesome to have you at my fingertips! The other thing I am kind of stressed about is that I am such an emotional eater I don't know how I will cope...I am sure I am not alone when it comes to eating whenever you are stressed (whether it is good stress or bad!) - but for 42 years that is all I have known...now what?! lol...it is amazing the kind of relationship we have with food isn't it! Hi everyone, me again...so I am 3 weeks away from getting the band and I am really starting to freak out about eating afterwards (after the liquid diet)!!!! I have been researching this and reading this forum since last summer (when I was originally supposed to get my band) so I was feeling very confident...but now that it is so close I am starting stress big time about it all. Don't get me wrong, I am super excited for this opportunity and am really happy to be getting the band but the eating is really stressing me out. I guess I am just over-whelmed with not only the choices I have to make but that the way in which I eat have to all change. I am not sure why I am so freaked out really, I have just lost 41 pounds in preparation for this so I know what I should and shouldn't eat but I am just stressed out about everything - chewing the food enough, not eating things that are hard to swallow...I am sure it is trial and error the first while and can't be avoided...guess I just need some reassurances is all... Also, I am finding that the last week has been super hard to stay on track...I have been doing so well since April in losing but now I just want to eat my old way...and I have no clue why...is it some sort of subconscious fear of "losing" the way I eat??? Is this normal? Did anyone else strugge just before surgery not to go hog wild with the food??? I just want to have it and be on the other side so I can stop stressing! Jen

Hi, I am scheduled for the 19th and am staying at the Lucerna. My g/f went last September and stayed there and had nothing but good things to say. She also said to get a room with a pool view. Hope this helps! And congratulations...it is so exciting isn't it!!! Jenny :-h
