  1. OMG, Holly, that is INCREDIBLE what you have lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to lose 131, you give me hope!!!! I would love to hear about your journey and the things that you did to do that...how long did that take you? I was just banded by Dr. O on the 19th of this month so I am just starting out and have actually gained 4 pounds on this liquid hell faze...if you could PM me and give me some of your journey details I would be grateful for the inspiration...that is just an amazing thing!!! CONGRATULATIONS girl!!!!!!
  2. I did see that episode as 18 months ago I survived a bout with MRSA infection and am so grateful I came out of it almost unscathed! I don't think I could do the brain surgery for the hunger as she had to be awake - freaked me out just watching it! But you are right Shelby, there are people I am sure that think the band is a drastic decision! Interesting concept though.
  3. I was just banded last Wednesday and I cannot say enough good about Dr. O and the staff at the OCC...it was a great experience!!!! I stayed at the Lucerna and it was great as well. The pool is beautiful, the staff is great and there are a few English channels on tv. There is also a FANTASTIC cantina about 1.5 blocks from the Lucerna that I highly recommend! It is on the same side of the street as the Lucerna and is a big bright yellow building - the best food I have ever tasted!!! It is a safe and nice walk so I recommend checking it out! Congratulations on your decision!
  4. Hi Margaret, I had my surgery last Wednesday and it went very well. Everyone at the clinic is so amazingly nice...it was a great experience! Dr. Ortiz is a total sweetheart (and VERY easy on the eyes too!)...he takes time to talk to you at length beforehand...puts you totally at ease. You have absolutely nothing to worry about! We stayed at the Lucerna and it was beautiful. The rooms are just standard but the hotel itself is very nice and everyone is wonderful. Alonso the doorman is fantastic and will help you any way he can. The pool is so beautiful to sit by too! There is a cantina just 1.5 blocks away from the hotel (big bright yellow building) that you MUST go to!!! They have the best food ever!!!! And the atmosphere is great...for 2 days we ate there and even got to enjoy a mariachi band there - I cannot recommend it enough! And it is safe to walk to - your biggest threat will be the sidewalks as they are very broken up so be careful! It is day 5 post-surgery and my port is definitely sore but the other incisions I don't even feel. I didn't have any trouble at all with gas pains...they were mild for a couple of days but nothing bad at all. I haven't been hungry at all - I think of food constantly but truly have not been hungry! I am feeling a bit "slow" today but that is probably due to a lack of food. You will be fine...everyone is super nice and helpful...good luck, when is your surgery?
  5. Hi, sorry I can't help with your question as I just got banded last Wednesday but I did want to say a huge congratulations to you on that remarkable weight-loss!!!!! That is amazing and is wonderful to hear I I too want to lose 130 pounds. How was your weightloss journey? Did you lose fast at first and slower later or was it pretty consistent? You must be so proud of yourself!!!
  6. Oh my gosh, that sounds so scary - sorry you had to go through that!!! I am glad you are doing better now - take care!
  7. Hi everyone, well here I am on day 2 of the band...I am allergic to the pain meds but doing pretty good all things considered. I am already tired of the chicken broth! lol How did you find out what time OCC was picking you up to take you back to the airport? When my g/f had it last July she said the driver was kind of late and thus one of the ladies almost missed her noon flight...my flight leaves at noon too and I would really like to get there early since I have no clue where to go in the airport once we are there! Should I call the OCC? Thanks for the advice
  8. Hi everyone, I am officially a bandster now!!!! Was the first to arrive at the OCC and the last to get banded. It is such an amazing experience and Dr. O is just a nice as he is good looking!!! I felt so taken care of I didn't have any qualms at all! I did have pretty significant pain when I first came out...they kept me pretty pumped up with painkillers so I didn't actually get up and walk until middle of the night. Today some other bandsters and mum and I went over to the mall to shop, had lunch and dinner then just sat in the lobby of the Lucerna and chatted. I haven't taken anything more than a Tylenol before I went shopping. I am going to take a pain pill from the clinic so I can get some decent sleep. I'll write more when I feel a little less spacey!! Thanks everyone for all of your well wishes!!
  9. Hi, I am typing this reply from my room in the Lucerna - everything is great with the exception of the beds...I got no sleep whatsoever last night because my bed is about as comfy as a concrete slab!!!! Seriously, if I could, I would sleep on the lounge chair by the pool! It is really a shame because it is a great hotel, everyone is super nice and the courtyard is just beautiful. It is a safe area and nice to walk around. We twice ate at the Cantina a couple of blocks away (a big bright yellow building on the same side as the hotel, cannot miss it) - it was hands down the best food I have ever eaten!!! And they are so nice there - we had a mariachi band playing for us tonight. Tomorrow is the big day...yikes! Good luck whichever you decide on, I am sure you cannot go wrong.
  10. Well we just came back from the most amazing dinner at that bright yellow cantina a couple of blocks from the Lucerna - holy cow that food was incredible!!! I feel like I want eat there a whole bunch before the band hahahaha I still cannot believe I am down here AND getting the band! Will check in later
  11. Hi ladies, thanks so much for all of your opinions and advice, I really appreciate it! I actually found an HP Mini on sale yesterday and decided to buy it...my son can use it in university so it was a good excuse lol. It only weighs 2 pounds so it is super light and small so it will be great! Well, I am all packed and just waiting for my mum and dad to pick me up...my mum is actually coming with me so I am really looking forward to having her company and spending time with her...we will be staying until the 22nd so it will be a nice little vacation for us. Tomorrow we are going to hit Revolucion...I am a bit nervous (only taken a cab a couple times in my life and never done the bartering thing) but really excited to check it out! Mum and I are so sheltered it will be a real adventure hahahaha I just want to say that you are all such an inspiration and I enjoy your "company" so much...you have really helped me over the last months in understanding this whole process and I know you will be invaluable once I "cross over"! I will definitley be staying in touch this week - hope I only have good things to report and mum and I don't get ourselves into trouble! lol I cannot believe that in 2 days I will FINALLY be banded!!!! This has been an almost 2 year process (was supposed to have it done last September 8th but had to put it off due to health problems) - I think I am still kinda in denial...can't believe it is really going to happen! Wahoooooo!!!!!!!! Talk to you ladies soon! :-h
  12. Thanks Angie! I will keep everyone in the loop for sure -big adventure for this Canuk that doesn't get to go too many places!! I am getting pretty excited now!
  13. Oh my gosh, I cannot believe I leave tomorrow morning for Mexico already!!! The time has really flown by! So I pretty much have packing figured out but waffling on bringing my laptop or not. I am staying at the Lucerna and it says on their site they have free wireless internet. I am bringing it so I can easily stay in touch with my sons and dad - will be a lot cheaper to use the webcam than to call home...but the problem is that it is rather heavy. My concern is in coming home and having to lug this thing along with my suitcase...how long of a walk is it to the border (it is my understanding the shuttle will drop us off and we walk to the border/customs)? If I am sore post surgery is it going to cause me more grief trying to haul everything back or not? Anyone else bring their laptop? How did you find the walk - was it a hike? Thanks as always for your 2 cents!
  14. Wahoo! Congratulations! That is fantastic! =D>
  15. I cannot find the Juice Plus up here anywhere - are they something you order online?
  16. hahahahaha that is an awesome way of looking at it!!!! Love it!
  17. Thanks for that info Chloe! I can't believe this time next week I will be joining you all! This forum is just so wonderful, everyone on here is just so amazing and beautiful...I feel very lucky to have you all at my fingertips...finally people that really understand what it is to live with this addiction and in a world that is so unforgiving and judgmental! I know my biggest challenge will be coming from my head...so many times I catch myself eating when I know full well I am not hungry...I am trying to be aware of this and stop it but I am not going to lie - it is stinking hard! Thanks again to you all for being there...I am sure I will have all kinds of questions in the weeks to come!
  18. Red, you are just too sweet! I actually called a local body building shop here and they carry some (although I don't think it is Special K) so I will pick some up and give them a go. Thanks so much again but I don't want to use yours up...I am sure the ones here will be fine
  19. Were you able to buy bottled water at the hotel or somewhere near by?
  20. Hi all, just wanted to ask you about drinking water post-surgery in TJ - is bottled water readily available? Probably a silly question but I don't travel so I am as "green" as they come! lol
  21. Hi Nicole, how much does a trip like this typically cost? How are you feeling now after all you have been through?
  22. Hi, I just wanted to let you know if you go back to the main page, then to "Fill Doctors & Fill Trips to Tijuana", then the 3rd subject down on the first page, "Increase your Chances for a Good Fill" is info posted by Dolittle...I think you will find this very helpful! Whereabouts in Canada are you? I am in Alberta and hear there are a couple of good fill doctors here...I am being banded next Wednesday...can't wait to join everyone "on the other side" lol. Hope this helped!
  23. Awesome to hear it was all fairly uneventful - that is what I am hoping for! I cannot for the life of me find the protein water/packets! I don't know that we have that up here...I keep looking but have come up empty. Glad you are doing so great!
  24. Congratulations! How exciting you are well on your way! I am being banded next Wednesday (19th)...can't wait to join everyone on the other side! Look forward to hearing how you are doing!
  25. Good luck! I look foward to hearing how it all went!
