  1. Michelle, You look great already and I am sure you can make your 100 lb. goal no problem. By the way wow you are almost at the under 200# mark and that is a great landmark too. I set my goal weight at 113 because I am 5'2" barely and have a very small frame. I have regularly lost to 130 between pregnancies etc. and that is a good weight for me if I have a lot of muscle with it. So I may adjust my weight if I am being diligent enough in working out. My biggest excitement with this whole process is not so much losing the weight but I have hope for maintaining. I have lost weight so many times and then just gained it back with the next pregnancy or whatever, usually plus some. The band is my tool to know that my effort will not be in vain. Blessings!
  2. Thanks for all of the great advise. I'll probably do a little of all of the above (without lying of course). Blessings!
  3. That is wonderful. You should be really proud of yourself and it is such an encouragement to the rest of us!
  4. Ok so I just found out today that my mom and dad are coming when I am 4 days post op and staying for a couple of days. I have not and can not tell them about my surgery. The want to have my aunt and uncle in for dinner the 2nd night they are here and we only see them about once a year so of course I have to do and eat liquid. I'm trying to figure out how to do this and be a gracious host. The will power won't be a problem but I can just hear the questions when we all sit down to this big dinner and I have a yogurt drink (I think I can have that 4 days post op). Any suggestions?
  5. I look forward to Hiking and playing with my children Wearing my skinny jeans that are many years old but haven't been worn for quite a while less hip pain more energy for everything. Skiing!
  6. It is really great to have you back and yes we did miss your crew. You are all a real encouragement. Keep up the good work and congrats of the 45! Blessings!
  7. I am only telling my husband. My teenage children will probably end up knowing but otherwise I am used to this. I have gotten used to not even telling people I am on a diet because they will just watch and say ask if I am allowed to eat this or that. If you ever notices skinny people have no problem saying no to food and they don't ever feel the need to explain why they are not eating I will just say I am being careful of what I eat and I am exercising if they ask what I am doing to lose all of the weight.
  8. I don't have 12 kids. I have 7 kids and various and sundry animals and alot of neighbor kids hanging around all of the time so everyone always says "your the mom with 12 kids or something right" and it has stuck
  9. I have heard many of you chatting about shopping. Do you have to take a taxi to get to shopping or can you just walk it? We are staying an extra day and I am hoping by day 2 I will feel good enough to do a little shopping. Were there good prices or was it mostly tourist rip off
  10. Isagenix also has a great protein drink. What I love about it is it has live enzymes in it to help keep everything moving soothly. It is also very high in the other needed nutrients with 23 g of protein. Blessings!
  11. It looks like there is quite a group of us between the 6th and 9th of may. I have my surgery on the 8th but I am sure we will all see each other coming and going! I read some of the already banded gals saying to be sure and take dresses as pant are too uncomfortable after surgery. I don't have any comfortable dresses so I went to good will today and found some great one. I figured I will only wear them a couple of times before I grow out of them so didn't want to spend much on them
  12. my surgery is scheduled for May 8, My BMI before pre op diet is 34 but I am concerned that they won't want to do the surgery if I lose more than 10 lbs. on the preop diet since it will put me down around 31 or 32.
  13. If you are tired of sweet, don't forget the broth. When you can have creamy soups there are lots of savory things.
  14. My Band date is May 8 and I am trying really hard to make changes and think like I will have to once I have the band and it is full. I have had will power in the past but it has always been discouraging to lose large amounts of weight and then gain it all back with some which is why I decided to get the band. I keep telling myself. This time whatever I lose pre/post op on the diets will be worth it because I will have the tool to not only keep it off but to keep going.
  15. even if you surgery isn't until the day after most of us are supposed to have preop tests on the day we arrive which also require fasting. Be sure and double check if you are having any tests that require fasting the day you arrive, you wouldn't want to jeopardize you surgery time or anything.
  16. Thanks for bumping up the post op guidelines for me. I am sure that I will get a copy of all of that but it does help me to know what to have on hand. Blessings!
  17. I am from Colorado Springs. Is there a "fill Center in Cheyenne"? Does the one in Thornton use Fluro. My surgery is May 8 and I am also planning to go back to occ for at least Fill #1 and possible more than that is just depends on the recommendations for Thornton and I still have to check into the actual price.
  18. I have 7 children and it was fun hearing from all of you with big families (after all they are part of where this weight came from right With my band coming up on May 8th, I am pretty comfortable with the information I have re the preop diet, but I am not sure what the post op diet everyone is talking about includes and how to have things prepared for that when I get back. Also it was mentioned in this thread that you aren't supposed to diet, do they just tell you to eat normally but less or what. I was assuming the band basically put me on a life long diet.
  19. I'm sure we will be riding together. I will be there with my husband. This is our anniversary trip. That's a hoot but he is a wonderful support and he knows how much this means to me.
  20. The closest fill center to me who will do fills for Mexico Surgery is Thornton, CO. Anyone out there who has had any experience with them?
  21. I am arriving mid morning may 7th for a May 8th surgery. I am so excited. Can't believe it is less than a month away.
  22. Jenna, You mentioned in your post here that you are being banded on May 8th. That is my band date as well so maybe we will meet up. My husband and I are flying down on the 7th and have decided to stay an extra day and come back on the Sunday. We will arrive in San Diego between 10 and 11 on United.
  23. Since I started reading the forum I have heard from and appreciated alot of the advise and imput from the people who where recently banded and those who are getting banded soon but not much from those with long term successes or struggles. As someone who is going to have this proceedure soon, I want to know what the long term experiences have been. Thanks!
  24. Thanks so much! Is this available over the counter?
  25. I have been reading this forum for a little while now but this is my first posting. I scheduled my surgery yesterday and I am going to be banded by Dr. Ortiz on May 8th and really looking forward to it. A while back I read in one of the forums a recommendation to take a gas medicine that started with ph with you and for the life of me I can't find it but I want to get some and pack it along. Also anything else you think I might need to know as I prepare for this journey
