  1. Band Groupie... did you request a semi-private room ahead of time? Just wondering why you saved double?? That's cool.
  2. Congratulations and thanks for the post. It's always nice to hear all these positive experiences.
  3. I totally agree.. it would be a shame. I'm pretty sure I will do okay pre-op. I'm not binging, just choosing the wrong foods to eat. My favourite is pizza. I could eat this every day if I wanted. I know that I am ready for a life style change and know I will be successful like all of us will be. I just know that it will be a while before I can eat it. Not too concerned about not being able to eat a whole bunch. Even a little would be great, but I know I will have to wait a while as it is bread. (I could always "chew and spit" like some of you girls! hahaha )
  4. I totally agree... $250 would pay for my trip back as well. I will ask Carolyn to book me in a semi-private.
  5. It will be "our" secret.. and of course by "our", I'm meaning everyone who reads this post.. lol. I did buy the Metamucil and Chromium Picolinate Tablets, and will start both of those on Monday. Hmmm... no alcohol two weeks prior to surgery either, and not much after. Maybe I should get pissed this weekend! One last hooplah!
  6. Wow... thanks for your quick replies. A couple of different suggestions. Has anyone confirmed that if you offer to share a semi-private room, that the cost of surgery is a little cheaper?
  7. Is anybody else struggling with wanting to eat all the good things you love before being banded?? I'm supposed to do 14 days pre-op, which I would start on May 1st. I'm probably going to start on Monday, April 28th though. But I've been finding that I just want to eat all the good things now that I enjoy, as I know I won't be able to for a long time. Kind of like that "last meal" before starting a new diet. Is anyone else facing this struggle?
  8. Okay... I don't know why, but I'm having a hard time making this decision. I'm being banded on Thurs. May 15th. I am flying down on Weds., May 14th. Now... here's my dilemma: Do I take a really early flight (getting up at 4:00 am) arrive at San Diego airport at 9:40 am.. and either hope to get banded that same day, and be able to relax at the hotel around the pool all day Thurs/Fri, go home Saturday. Or... do I take a later flight... arrive in San Diego at 1:40, and kind of spend the day doing whatever, and get banded Thursday, and only have Friday around the pool, as I'm flying home Saturday. Hmm.. 1st choice sounds better, but 4:00 am.. is pretty early, seeings how I'm so not a morning person. What are your thoughts? Keeping in mind that if I do take the later flight, that's a long time fasting.
  9. You know, I used to read this forum for the information, but now I just come for the laughs! Too funny. My son's wondering what the hell is so funny, and why I'm laughing out loud! I just can't wait until I'm banded and can share my "f" stories! I could probably share a few now, but I'll spare you. I had my gall bladder out when I was 19, so I blame it on that. I laugh whenever I hear Larry the Cable Guy's "Walking Farts" story. Just kills me! Take care all.. hope you don't keep any gasoline in your house!
  10. I appreciate that.. thank you so much. I'm flying in on the 14th arriving around 9:30 in San Diego. Was hoping because I'm going to be there so early, they may do my surgery that day? If not, no worries, I will go and lie around the pool. I'm a sun worshipper! You know... I emailed your write up to my sister last night, so was NOT letting me go by myself. But.. after she read your write-up, she said.. you know... I'm thinking I might just be in the way. Sounds like you're going to have lots of people there with you, and you'll be able to keep yourself busy, and will have so much in common with everybody. So.. THANK YOU! I really didn't want her to come! lol
  11. Yes.. thank you for finding that and posting it. Now to those of you who have been banded for say 6 months or longer, would you say you would agree with this flow chart?
  12. I would probably spit out brussel sprouts band or no band.. I think they are just gross..
  13. LMAO! I haven't been banded yet, and quite a few foods give me gas, but I do find the GAS X helps. I did buy some of they Phazyme (?) in the states for post-op. Have you tried that?
  14. OMG Barb... I love Blue Collar Comedy! I can relate to that comment! lol Too funny! Did you or can you take Metamucil after the surgery to help you go?
  15. Hi Calicat... I'm going down to be banded on May 15th, arriving May 14th. I'm flying out of Bellingham, to Seattle, then to San Diego. Flying Alaska Airlines.. have you booked your flight already?
  16. Hi Barb... congrats on being banded. I'm being done on May 15th. When you were picked up at the airport, you mentioned that you were taken directly to the hotel? I thought they take you directly to the OCC for pre-ops? Do you know why they didn't do your pre-ops the day before?
  17. Thanks so much Michelle. I will email Carolyn and see what she says. She's the one I've been dealing with. I heard something about a semi-private room being cheaper? Do you know anything about this?
  18. You can always email the doc's as well. That's what I'm going to do. Carolyn said.. no problem.
  19. Thanks! Going to order mine now from Amazon. Thought maybe I could get a hardcover, but that's okay.
  20. MacKenzie... how did you find giving up Diet Coke. I drink alot of it, and I know I will be going through withdrawals for sure. Any suggestions? Did you/do you miss it?
  21. Okay... so let me get this right. If I fly into San Diego on the 14th morning or early afternoon, I am not scheduled for surgery until the 15th, but it's possible they may do my surgery on the 14th? What time roughly do they take you back to the hotel the next day?
  22. I haven't seen it in B.C. either. Just bought some down at WalMart in the U.S. Denise (aka The Redhead), I go down often to Blaine/Bellingham. If you would like some, just let me know and I can pick some up for you.
  23. Denise... would you have been able to use your laptop in the hospital? Just wonder if it would be more convenient to have it with you in your room in case you get really bored.
  24. Are your books "paperback"? Are the ones that the OCC sells paperback as well? I see they are sold out, so I am going to order off Amazon as well, but was hoping for hardcover. Thanks!
  25. Thinking of bringing my laptop.. do you know if they have wireless internet in your rooms, in the hotel? Thanks...
