Hi Kimra, I was reallly looking forward to meeting you while I was there. I was banded on Thursday and left Saturday. I really don't think there's any limit. With being on liquids only, everything is flowing through our band into our lower stomach. I am trouble getting alot of liquids in. With having to "sip" everything, it's taking forever for me to drink say a bottle of water. I am making sure that the liquids are room temp (even the liquid yogurt, I added today), as I find they go down so much easier.

Question on hotel Lucerna
Allcdngirl replied to mona-camille's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I was on the 5th floor, and they were working during the day, but done by 5:00 pm. I was never in the room during the day, so it didn't bother me at all. -
OFFICIALLY A BANDSTER!!!
Allcdngirl replied to Allcdngirl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Okay Dawn.. I was saying to Bernie (my sister) on the flight yesterday, that I'm pretty sure that I read on the forum, that one of the girls called me "Neeters". I told her I must have been dreaming, as I used to use that name all the time, but haven't in a long time. Now I see I didn't dream it... where did you find my "old" name?? -

Congratulations for making the decision to get banded. Although you may be second guessing what you have done, just remember, it will pass. I was banded on the 15th, and definitely find that drinking something warm goes down WAY easier than something cold. I'm sorry you're having all this trouble, but do let us know what Dr. Ortiz says. And they did check your band which is a good thing, so it must be just a short matter of time before things start to improve for you. Try and stay positive. It will be worth it in the end! Anita -
Well I was first one banded this morning. Am doing good. Was up walking, but started to fall asleep, so I had to go lay down. Funny, the gas pains hurt more when I lied down. I slept for about an hour, and now I'm good to go. Good thing Dr. Ortiz isn't walking around here, so I'm be his hot little tail! He has got the most beatiful lips! Eyes, nose, ears, oh my... he's just freekin gorgeous!!! Nice sense of houmour. Well I'm going to keep walking around, so I can try and blow this popsicle stand tonight. I want to go back to the pool. Talk to you soon! Anita

My First fill & update on Hotel Lucerna
Allcdngirl replied to mlgpdx's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
We're here right now Karrie, and really no sign of constrution exept on certain floors. I would still stay here. Anita -
Arrived this morning 9:20 am... was met at airport at 10:00 am (parking was full), and got to OCC around 11:00. Did pre-op and was done and at Lucerna around 12:30. Have already met up with Dave & Cathy, Amber, and a couple of people not on Forum.... Steve and Natalie. Natalie is staying here but Steve is staying at the Camino Real with Dave & Cathy. I've heard that the Camino is basically considered a "shoebox". Not as nice as the Lucerna, but Dave is going to be reporting back to OCC on his opinion, and observations. Lied around the pool for a few hours today (pool water is very ccccccold!). Had the best dinner here. Filet Mignon, covered in a red wine dark gravy sauce with mushrooms (OMG.. it was so juicy, and mouth watering), with a baked potato, loaded with a sour cream/ranch topping. It was to die for! The best last meal I could have eaten! Wanted so bad to have a glass of wine with it, but didn't dare. I highly recommend it. Have it in the main restaurant, not the italian one. Just finished watching American Idol, my sister has crashed, and of course, I drank the last of the "diet coke" I could, so I am now officially "high on caffeine" , so I don't think I'll be going to sleep anytime soon. Was hoping to meet Mrs. Ortiz tomorrow morning, but Ernesto (OCC driver), said he'd be here at 7:30 am, so maybe we won't get to meet her? I am going to request coming back to the hotel tomorrow, instead of staying at the OCC. Shouldn't be a problem, I don't think. Well.. not much else to tell right now. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you coming down here in the next couple of days. It's like we already know each other, just have never physically met. Looking forward to hearing all your do's and don't's of being a bandster. Will update tomorrow after the surgery from the OCC. Until then, Anita >

Being so far away from OCC
Allcdngirl replied to Allcdngirl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Well I filled out the "Health" forms I got from RedHead and mailed it today with a cheque for $400. That's what the first appt fee is, and then $75 for each one after. I'll see what they say. If they say "sorry", then I'll go down to Arlington. -

Yes.. I have just sent you a P/M. I did get the forms from "Redhead".. thanks. -
Congratulations Alana... I only have 3 more sleeps until it's my turn to join Bandland! I was wondering about the chicken broth. Everywhere I look it's so very high in sodium. This can't be good for you. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks!

I am being banded on a Thursday and back to work on Tuesday. I have a sit down job as well. I am anticipating I will be just fine.

I think the pool Friday maybe around dinner time would be good, and then you girls getting fills, can take us newbies to a good restaurant that you know of. I can't believe how quickly it's coming up!!! Michelle.. really looking forward to meeting you. You are such a great asset to this support group.

Being so far away from OCC
Allcdngirl replied to Allcdngirl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I did ask if she could recommend someone, and she said that there were no more dr's in BC that would do it. Dr. Woodhead was the only one that was doing it. Lisa.. how long after a fill does it take to know if you need an unfill? Is it like hours, days or ??? -
Being so far away from OCC
Allcdngirl replied to Allcdngirl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Just before I booked my surgery, around the 2nd to last week of April, I talked to the receptionist of Dr. Woodhead, and she told me he was doing fills, but didn't know for how much longer. She took down my name as I had told her that I would need him for my fills, and I would call her after I booked my surgery. When I called last Monday, she said sorry.. as of May 1st, he's not taking any more patients. I was crushed! I just don't know how urgent it is to have a dr. right in the immediate area? I haven't heard of too many emergencies on here. I think it's just if I need an "unfill", I will have to make an extra trip somewhere. -
Okay.. so I have recently found out that the only Dr. here in Vancouver, BC that was willing to do fills for patients that have had surgery in Mexico, has decided not to do it anymore. He's not taking new patients. So, I have now have only two choices. Dr. Ortiz, in which could get quite costly, and which I hadn't planned on the added expense, let alone, having to take more time off work, and who is so far away, should I need something immediately, and the Arlington Pharmacy, which is approx. 2 hrs drive from my home. What to do??? I'm starting to get paranoid now, after I was feeling so good, and confident. Are any of you in the same predicament, and what are your thoughts?
-
Mom 12... congrat's on your surgery. Glad to hear it was everything you thought it would be, and that you're doing so well. Good for you! Keep us updated on your progress, struggles, etc. I'm being banded on the 16th.

I’ve been over indulging lately :(
Allcdngirl replied to sphynxmomma's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I posted a similar post a couple of weeks back. I was struggling, and eating everything, like it was my last meal as well. I finally just ate so much one night, that I literally felt like I was going to puke, and then next day I started pre-op. I'm glad I did. I was soooooooooo done! But now as the day to surgery gets closer, I'm finding it difficult again. Something that we all do, and struggle with, but we can only do our bests. I haven't heard of them cancelling any surgeries due to lack of lost pre-op weight. -
Hey.. I'm supposed to lose 10 - 12 and I'm down 7. I'm being banded with you on Thursday. I've been pretty good with having the 2 shakes a lien cuisine for dinner, however, it is hard on the weekend, when you're home for all three meals. My boys are taking me out for breakfast tomorrow morning, but I've passed on a mother's day barbeque, because when I went to a barbeque last weekend, I didn't do so well. I decided to resist the temptation. I hope that I can be good for the rest of the day tomorrow, and all day Monday and Tuesday. Weds will be hard because after pre-op testing then you're going to eat, and the increase in calories, will add on lbs. I haven't heard of them cancelling any surgery's. My g/f was banded last year here in Canada, and was not required to lose any pre-op weight. They also told her no less that 4 week liquids only post-op. Different rules, kind of makes you wonder?

Getting banded on the 15th.. I'll be listening for you! Anita

Just made my Second fill Appt!
Allcdngirl replied to Maytee's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I know they say that's his goal, but do we know anybody that say has to lose no less than say 75 lbs and have done it with only 2 or 3 fills. I'd love to know. -
I'm officially a bandster!
Allcdngirl replied to Jacqui1's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Congratulations to all 3 of you. I'm really looking forward to following your weight loss with you. I have only 5 more sleeps until I'm banded. Wow... getting really close!! -
Congratulations "Mom". Way to go! It's really encouraging to hear that you ARE losing weight post-op. I have been concerned about strugging just to maintain between banding and first fill, after reading alot of the struggles on here. Glad to hear you're doing so well. Keep up the good work! =D>
