  1. If you do have to pay anything, it should only be the cost of the port, which, I'm guessing, is fairly inexpensive. You should not have to pay for the surgeon, anestesia, room (if you stay the night) etc. Keep us posted.
  2. "My biggest fear is that the creamy soups and protein shakes will stretch my pouch." These will not stretch your pouch, don't worry. The doctors have seen literally thousands of folks come before you, all of whom have gone on this liquid diet including creamy soups and protein shakes. Not only do you need these to keep from feeling like you're starving, you need them so that your eyes, hair, skin, teeth, bones, etc. can stay healthy! Go drink some creamy soups and protien shakes - you'll be totally fine!!
  3. YAY!!! You're looking wonderful! And I'm loving the white pants in the most recent pic - too cute!
  4. I have never heard of a wasabi pea before now, but I'm thinking I should look into them...or maybe I should stay the heck away so that I don't find out that I like them and then have to wean myself off!!
  5. Awesome - sounds like it was worth the trip for sure to have such a great fill doc!
  6. Whoo - hoo!! Congrats!! That is one thing I cannot wait to happen - I am very anxious to get down to a bra size that doesn't have to be special ordered...they don't make anything that can be considered "pretty" in a 42 H!!
  7. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought about you today when I was eating my lunch...welcome back to the land of the chewers!!
  8. One thing to think about - I think we're not supposed to drink any shakes or anything liquid like that b/c the band cannot work on them - the band can only work on solids - it holds the food and more slowly releases it into our stomachs so that we feel fuller longer. I'm not sure, but I really think this is right. Anyone else know for sure? Maybe that might help a bit?
  9. You ladies rock! Enjoy your summer and thanks for the email addresses - I know lots of people have and are and will benefit from your courage and awesomeness!
  10. I agree with Jena - I don't think you've eaten much at all there. I'm willing to bet that if you ate that same amount and got more protien and fiber, you'd not be hungry. Remember, you've still got to feed your body - it needs the good stuff now almost more than ever!
  11. Hey pretty girl! Hope you're having a great day!

  12. Hey Dave! Hope you're doing great today!

  13. Today is a good day - I have officially landed in "Twosville!" The 299.5 on my scale this morning might seem like it's not a big deal to some, but considering that a month and a half ago, I was weighing in at 333, I'm very happy. My next goal will be 280 and I think I will continue to set "mini goals" like this all along the way - it's just too depressing to look at the overall picture sometimes! As they say, "A journey of 1,000 miles begins with one step." Guess I've taken a step or two and I'm glad for it. Another thing that's going on with me is wondering if/when I will need a fill. I'm almost 5 weeks out from surgery and I feel a totally decent amount of restriction still. I cannot eat very much at one time, and even better than that, I just don't feel hungry like I used to. I wonder if I could still have some internal swelling causing this restriction or if I just got lucky that the band itself is going to give a good amount of restriction for me. Does that ever happen I wonder? At any rate, so far so good, and I officially feel like I'm on my way.
  14. Hey Blazn - our stories are so similar - married to great guys we want to have kids with, but dang PCOS (plus obesity) got in our way. Yay for both of us for doing something about it! :)

  15. Minus 53 lbs - yay!! I'm thinking you'll definitely make your November goal! :)

  16. Hey there Cheryl - hope you're doing great!

  17. Jann is exactly right - if you sit around and think of all the food you can't have, you'll find yourself at a drive-through in no time. Get up and engage yourself mentally AND physically. It will be worth it!!!
  18. Woo-hoo Michelle! Can't wait to hear your boot camp stories!
  19. I think you'll find a lot of people have restriction that varies throughout the day. It's not happening to me personally, but it seems like I've heard this from others. Hopefully someone in your shoes can shed some light on this subject. In the mean time, I wish you the best!
  20. I would be mad as hell at a dentist who gave me no kind of forwarning about this. For someone to just slap stuff on your teeth that causes you to be on a liquid diet for 6 months...I think a person has the right to be counseled about this AHEAD of time!! I am so sorry for your terrible situation and hope you have happier news to report to us soon!
  21. I can definitely tell a difference in your face and hips! WTG!!
  22. We started out at about the same weight and have about the same goal, so I just wanted to say hi! Plus, I love your hefty Wonder Woman!
