  1. Awesome recount! I enjoy these long posts. 'Gratz on your surgery! =D> I can't wait to see how you make out over the next while. Slow and steady wins the race!
  2. I'm pre-op and actually fundamentally pre-diet for pre-op and I am really struggling with the drinking thing. I don't salt my food so that it doesn't encourage me to be thirsty. I'm really trying to chew 20 times every bite (sometimes not so much). I'm trying to cut everything into tiny pieces -- very frustrating pre-op! I use salad plates not dinner plates to make the amount look larger. I put my fork down between bites (mostly!) I'm not snacking AT ALL anymore! I'm eating protein first, followed by salad, followed by starch (if there even is any) and I've cut my bread consumption down to no more than two slices (tuna or egg sandwich, l/f mayo, no butter, onion) per day, usually no bread at all. (Amazing for me. I'm such a bread hound!) I can accept all of that thus far with a struggle or two here or there. Losing the carbonated drinks was easy surprisingly. I drink one or two protein drinks a day. Giving up coffee -- well, I'm down from three pots a day to two large mugs with dairy powder and no sugar. In summary, I can let go of the salt, sugar, soda, chips, peanuts and even condiments but giving up my water especially at dinner is diabolical! Having said that, the diagram is a wake up call. Who'd have thought water would stretch your pouch! I read somewhere that an adult has to repeat a behaviour 500 times consecutively before it becomes an entrenched habit. So, here I go tonight -- one ...
  3. Oh, that's easy. Have them set up their own toon and do the exercises too! Wii has a number of very interactive sports games like tennis, bowling, hockey, baseball, car racing and on and on it goes. No blood, no gore, no adult content and it forces you to physically interact with the game. No more play by thumb! My sister got one and they use it for family nights with her two kids and hubby. She says it's really made a difference in the family dynamic and there's a real sense of belonging, connection and healthy competition. Her boys are 12 and 9 and they even upped their grade levels to get one more night of family play in!
  4. Well, I had to go to three stores because they were sold out by 10:00 a.m. this morning but I got one! =D> I love -- love -- love this! The information I learned about myself was actually pretty cool but scary! This little beauty takes your data, height, weight, etc., calculates your BMI, allows you to set trackable goals and creates charts of your progress. I'm all about the charts! hehe. I found out I have the physical fitness of a 69 year old! (I'm 48!) I favour my right side, my balance is way off and my spacial sense is -- well, let's just stay coordination isn't my strong point evidently. The weight limitation for the balance board is 330 pounds and you work at your own pace. I highly recommend this one ladies. It was fun, facinating and made me want more! However, given my work deadlines I reluctantly stepped away but guaranteed I'll be back in the morning for my next workout. I now have physical goals for improving what are now identified as definite weaknesses. Cheers Ninendo for a productive and fun workout program!
  5. Nope, I'm July but I wanted to wish you all the best and congrats on your decision!
  6. OMG 'grats on your weight loss, Nicolek! Way to go! I notice you had your fill on my b'day! hehe
  7. I've also been referred to Dr. Descoutoeux by Andrew. Give him a shout -- he took care of everything for me and told me not to worry. It's all part of their service. Having said that I don't have an appointment yet but I'm not being banded 'til the 9th either. 8. Yup, they do. I bought some just the other day at SuperStore. It's in the children's section of the pharmacy. It's part of my stockpile for surgery I could not imagine having to choke down a broken down pill. (shudder) Hope you are feeling better!
