  1. LOL, I am actually in El Dorado Hills at work, so you know how I feel about the smoke!
  2. I have got to be completely honest and would love some suggestions. It is so fricken hot here in Sacramento :heat: the last thing I want to do is go to a HOT gym and work out. :lb25: I get this way every summer. I cannot get motivated at all to work out. It is 111 degrees here and the smoke is so bad you can barely breathe from all the fires. Suggestions anyone on things I can do? I know I could work out in the morning, but as it is I get up at 4:00am to go to work, next ................. I am trying to get on track here, since I just got my fill and having GREAT restriction, eating really well. HELP! :help:
  3. Cabbage Soup Diet (Did this one, did lose weight but was hungry & miserable) Mmmm … cabbage. Good on St. Patrick’s day, not so good every day. Unless you’re trying to lose up to ten pounds in a single week, then maybe cabbage doesn’t sound so bad anymore. But being light headed, weak, and suffering from decreased concentration, as some diet participants have reported, does. Not to mention the inordinate amount of flatulence you are bound to have on a cabbage laden diet. Slim, but stinky Blood Type Diet ( Bought all the books for this diet, my friend's hubby lost 60 pounds doing this) According to this diet, different blood types should eat different foods. If you’re group O, you’re a hunter, and should eat meat. If you’re A, you’re a cultivator, and are best as a vegetarian. B? A nomad, eat dairy. The rare AB blood type should eat—you guessed it—a combination of the foods recommended for groups A and B. If this sounds more like the plot of a bad high school play than a diet, that’s because there’s really no evidence that your blood type has any influence on your weight or overall health. Look past the A’s, B’s and O’s, and you’ll see this a fad diet that doesn’t make much sense. The Atkins Diet ( Did this one, nothing happened) Don’t get me wrong: the Atkins diet can help you lose weight. I’ve tried it, and I lost weight. But man, I felt like crap. And after a week, all I could think about was eating an orange. An orange! Of all the harmless food items out there. Of course, cutting out refined sugars and nutrition-less carbs is a good thing, but not all carbs are bad for you, and the good ones fuel muscles, fill you up, and are pretty damn tasty. Not to mention that the Atkins diet isn’t a healthful lifestyle change; it’s a limiting diet that requires you to eat a lot of not so healthy foods. And chances are you won’t be able to avoid eating carbohydrates for your entire life, nor would many people want to.
  4. I am so sorry for your loss......I know all the mixed feelings can be hard. No it is not to soon to get another animal. I totally believe in that a pet picking it's owner is so true. If it wasn't meant to be and too soon, trust me the chichauau wouldn't haved locked eyes with you. It was meant to be and the new puppy needed your love, and knows that you are a wonderful person. I had my cat for 15 years, and put it to sleep 5 years ago. To this day I still wonder if I made the right decision. This cat was my son, saved my life twice literally. He was getting old and little senial (spelling) He slept with me and my brother walked in and woke him out of a dead sleep not knowing what was going on I think, attacked me. I mean he got down to my bones, that is how hard he bit. But I truely believe he didn't know what he was doing. The reason why I thought it was best to put him to sleep, is when I took him in he also had developed kidney & liver failure, not sure what stage (that is the part I question myself on, eyes starting turning yellow, ) but also because my daughter was only 7 at the time and I couldn't have him attacking her. He was also very old. Sorry so long, but my point is I said I would NEVER get another cat. We went to Petsmart and they were having an adoption that day, and I always look at the animals like so many times before, and Missy Pearl just kept following me with her eyes. Obviously you can tell she is now part of the family. I also have 2 pugs, but 1 is my wild child, very very hyper, but I really don't think he would have the life he has if he didn't have me and my daughter. He is the most loving dog and loves us to death. I am a firm believer in FAITH!!! Again, I am so sorry for your loss. The pain and sadness you must be going through. Your memories of Lucy will forever live and always be in your heart! My 2 boys Missy Pearl
  5. That is awesome!! Way to go! :lb16: =D>
  6. Michelle thank you for all your tips, this really helps. I have a shopping list to go to the store today, I just got my fill over the weekend. The information that you provided is wonderful.
  7. That place looks wonderful!! But very pricey. I always go through hotwire, so maybe I will do this next time. Is it hard to get across the border in just any car? I know the line is longer.
  8. I just looked at this hotel website and it looks really cute, and allows pets. My 2 pugs travel everywhere with me (accept Tijuana of course) It didn't list the price though. How much did you pay?
  9. Well today I started on solids..........I could only eat 1 scrambled egg, and did that in 2 sittings, because was full about 1/2 way through. Right now I have a chicken Caesar salad and I have MAYBE eaten a 1/4 of it, if that, and it's been sitting here for almost 2 hours. So things are looking good. Was kind of bummed that I didn't lose any weight on the 3 day liquid diet, but not losing faith! Thanks for all the support I could not do this without all of you. I met some woman at the Lucerna who were not part of the forum yet, and all I could do was rave about everyone and how much it helps!!
  10. Gaining is normal, I gained 6 pounds. Lost that plus 11 more the first 3 weeks after surgery.
  11. Believe me you can tell the difference. What are your stats, just out of curiosity? You are doing great! :lb16:
  12. Mine just happen to be at the exact 8 week mark after my surgery, but that was just because I had to do my first fill appointment on my day off. I will let you know how it turns out. I still had some restriction sometimes, which was weird, but needed a fill. I got a 2 cc fill yesterday!
  13. I feel your pain............I have been so discouraged for about the last month. I was banded 5/7/08, lost 11 pounds the first 3 weeks, then started gaining back. I started thinking this was just another diet failure, an exspensive one at that! If it wasn't for the wonderful support on this forum, (Painter, Evette, Kimra, my list could go on...) the days would be hard. Today I had my first fill, so I am looking forward to great restriction and pounds to start coming off again. Hang in there, I totally know what you are feeling right now. You can do this, stay strong!
  14. I have had a few drinks since my surgery just on special occasions! I was never a big drinker to start with. It's probably best not to drink because of the high calorie content! I wish I liked red wine, because everyone says that a good glass of red wine can be good for you. Can't stand the taste of it. I was always a beer drinker and that's a no no for 6 months due to the carbonation.
  15. Well I had my first fill done today and did not hurt a bit! It was awesome to watch the baruim go down on the x-ray screen. You will be fine.
  16. For me the worst pain was in my shoulder, put me in tears! But it also felt like someone was sitting on my chest for the first couple of days. Just keep walking, walking, walking.............that should help! Welcome to Bandster Land! :lb9:
  17. Well I am here at The Lucerna, had my first fill this morning @ The OCC. He did 2cc's in my band. It was awesome watching the barium go down on the xray screen. I wanted my daughter to watch but she kept on ducking behind the x-ray wall. (She doesn't like needles) I think this was an agressive fill, so hopefully pounds will start coming off. I had cream of spinach soup for lunch and chicken broth for dinner. The Lucerna has the best soups, I do have to say. Met some really nice ladies here who just had their surgery yesterday and 1 having her's done today. Hope everyone had a wonderful & safe 4th! :lb21:
  18. You have such a beautiful family! You look GREAT!!
  19. I know I saw it somewhere that after your first fill you are on a 3 days liquid diet? Can someone direct to where I saw this or tell me what consist of the diet, just clear liquids or clear and creamies?
  20. My fill appointment is at 9:00 tomorrow also. We will meet in the lobby at the Lucerna in the morning of the 4th to take the van over? Or are you getting to the OCC another way of transport?
  21. I am finally getting my first fill done tomorrow morning @ the OCC 9:00am. I am so freakin excited I can't stand it. I do not feel like working today and ready to leave. Our flight leaves tonight. Taking my 12 year old daughter with me, she will love the pool @ the Lucerna. (I swear she was a fish in her other life) I am looking forward to just be reassured that the band is in place and ok and start losing some weight baby! YEAH!! :cheerleader:
  22. You are doing great!! Keep up the good work. =D>
