  1. It occurred to me after the gas pains stopped that maybe a "Samantha Jones" type vibrator would have helped break up the gas bubbles faster. Give it a whirl with a heating pad. The gas pains SUCK!
  2. Yeah. I started the day with Gatorade ( before coffee) and that helped tremendously. I needed the glucose and the electrolytes.
  3. That's why we rely on our wonderful online food diaries! Many use Fitday. I use thedailyplate.com all that stuff is on there. Dr. Miranda gave you a generalized diet plan to follow. If you follow it, you'll land in the arena of 1000 to 1300 calories a day, at least 60g lean protein. You'll end up with an 40/30/30 split of carbohydrate, protein, fat calories in that 1000 to 1300 range. I haven't used the protein bombs since the clear liquids days. I do, however, generally boost breakfast foods (oatmeal, yogurs) with a scoop of vanilla whey protein. I add the unflavored Unjury whey protein to creamy soups when I eat those. Hope that helps! Linda
  4. Thanks! I'm hoping it IS as simple as a little pill every day. Crossing my fingers (and all of my pink parts) that I have a solution instead of a continuing problem They could have taken me as soon as next week, but I have a business trip Sat to Sat. I'll see the endo when I get back. Linda
  5. Agreed, the Isopure Vanilla blows. It's not bad in yogurt though. For vanilla, the Muscle Milk is the best one out there.
  6. Asking us, in the peanut gallery, my knee jerk answer is "what did your doctor say?" I would. Not losing weight after spending 8 grand and eating correctly and exercising for 3 months sucks. I'm still happy to be banded, but had I known there were thyroid issues beforehand, I'd have taken care of that first. Linda
  7. I've been quiet lately. It's been sort of sucky to be me. But, since what's happening with me could happen to any of us, I'll just go ahead and type. I was banded on 6/16. Lost 7 pounds post op. Nothing more. First fill was 7/28. I was in the parking lot of the restriction stadium, but not actually in the ball park. Started keeping a food diary online. Was working out. Put on two pounds. It wasn't muscle. Not a reason on the planet I should do that. e-mailed Dr. Miranda, she said I should go to an endocrinologist. Got 2nd fill on 8/20. Have varying restriction. Still keeping food diary, still eating correctly. 8/25 went to a new GP. I took along the food diary (I wrote a post about it). She sent me for blood work and referred me to an endocrinologist with whom I have an appt on the 16th. She told me that my thyroid is "full" about 2x the size it's supposed to be. In other words, not normal. Results back yesterday. Thyroid Stimulating Hormone at the very peak of normal levels. Ordered ultrasound to see why the thyroid is abnormally large...Blood sugars and OSH normal. I hope it is the thyroid, actually. It would be nice to have a faster metabolism. So, for you in the peanut gallery, this is what you should take away from all of this. A) the band should work, and if your body isn't working correctly, then it will help you stay in the same place while you figure out what else is going wrong. Keep a food diary. It helps to keep you honest, it will help your Dr if something else is wrong. C) It's a journey. Even though you jump for joy at OICU812's 50+ pounds gone and you're only down 5 in almost 3 months, getting to the goal weight is still the goal. It might take a little longer than you wanted it to, but it's not a race.
  8. Eight days. You're on liquids for three weeks. I could deal with Progresso Cream of Mushroom and the unflavored protein, put thru the blender to puree the mushroom chunks. Same with the Potato & Leek soup from Safeway Selects.
  9. It was the 4th of July and it was 1/2 a cheeseburger with everything on it.
  10. My .02 It's rather similar to Lisa's. If your marriage was in trouble before? Its in trouble after. When you're stronger. When you're healthier. When you're more successful... you've stopped putting up with things that are just plain *crap*. It isn't about sex. It isn't about weight. It isn't about health. It is, however, about confidence. When you've gotten to the point that you believe in you and won't put up with the *crap*...the guys who administer crap instead of substance find themselves at the mercy of a lawyer. Ours. And probably should have found themselves there years ago. Ask clearly for what you want, speak plainly about what hurts you. Tell them when you feel abandoned now. Now is salvageable. Later is last ditch. When you're in "after" shape? Telling them then is a "Hail Mary". -- And they're probably not either Joe Namath, Joe Montana or Brett Favre. They're just dumbshitz in the headlights and not equipped. Sorry, done. Linda
  11. I just turned 42. I am NOT READY for hot flashes. I am also not ready for the full on "endocrinologist" route. But, yes, I am sweaty. It's troublesome.
  12. You asked the wrong person. Chez Wiz should be uzed as rat poison. Human food? Egads! Ick.
  13. What she said! I'm happy, so happy, that your DH is there, too. Heal perfectly! Linda
  14. Thank heaven! I was starting to think I was the only naughty one here!
  15. Welcome to your newest NSV! (those stupid cameras are most helpful, dammit, when it's time for a haircut. You see "bad hair". "Oh, that's MINE!" and in you go for a cut and color.)
  16. Michelle, I'm so happy to see that you're human afterall! Kidding, I'm glad your move went well. Cool that you can get your fill quickly!
  17. What an inspiration! Huge congratulations to you!!!
  18. Any chance you could be pregnant ? That sounds like an electrolyte issue. Are you getting enough potassium? One of the easiest ways is to drink a small bottle of Gatoraid and see what happens. Hope you feel better today!
  19. Congratulations, by the way for the 15 pounds already lost!
  20. 1700 calories is hardly a binge. "dumping syndrome"? did you have a bypass first and now a lap band? Banders don't typically have dumping syndrome. Until you get a fill next month, follow your doctor's recommended diet plan. If you don't have one from your Dr. pick a healthy one that you can follow (South Beach is a good one).
  21. For both of my Drs, water was okay. You might call yours (if it isn't the OCC) and ask what their preferences are.
  22. Right. He's fine and you're a mess. Except that isn't right. You're emotionally present and he's astonishingly good at denial. You'll go through agony now, get better and start getting the phone calls in 6 months when he's out of sorts, isn't happy and "just wants things to go back the way they were". I'm sorry you're going through it. Take excellent care of you and your kids. And read this article. It will help. http://health.yahoo.com/experts/menlovesex...eak-ups-better/ PM me if you'd like a list of items to start storing up. The faster you lawyer up, the better. Linda
