  1. I just added you! I added your real estate connection with your photo. Should I have added the "Toronto" one instead?
  2. My husband chose to be sideline supportive. As in: I want you to be thin. And also as in: I'm not going to participate. I'm not going to engage. It's your problem. And I'm just going to sort of root for you when it's convenient. I'm becoming famous in my own little part of the ocean for saying "No one can get you in to heaven. And you can't get anyone else thru the pearly gates." It's your body. You're in the driver's seat. You want partnership, you want support. Phenomenal if your husband does his part. If you don't get it? Well...we're back to "No one can get you into heaven." Do what is right for you. No apologies, no excuses. Your body, your choice.
  3. Welcome! Knowledge is power. Research all you like. Ask questions you can't find answers for. Dr. Ortiz is a phenomenal surgeon. And this is a wonderful group.
  4. It is! They do the fills at the Ambulatory Surgery Center (which has its doors right next to the Hospital entrance doors). It was a genuinely good experience.

    VERY HURT

Where do they get the idea that once they're married, they are free to be their worst possible selves? You're better off without him. He's picking a fight to make you be the bad guy for causing the break up. It's manipulation and it's mean. Again, you're better off without him. Sorry he's choosing to be an ass.
  6. Yes on the fluoro. Great experience, here's the post: http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?showtopic=8060
  7. SWEET! Congratulations on a great new fill DR!
  8. If you can call your doc for a scrip for keterol, can I recommend it? The Supradol they gave us in the OCC (OTC in Mexico) was keterol. It's sort of like ibuprofen's stronger cousin and does wonders for my cramps. it's an NSAID. Sorry about the new birth control pills. It sucks getting used to new ones. I'm happy for you though that your band is doing it's job and preventing an all out binge. You might gain 2 pounds, but not 20. Sending mojo that you'll find your feet very soon. Hormones can suck.
  9. Are they filling under fluoro? Do you have the option to use another fill center or fill Dr?
  10. I haven't seen her pose for a while, but MamaMichelle is from Henderson. If you don't mind the 2.5 hour trip, I can recommend a Dr. who uses fluoro in Flagstaff. Linda
  11. Plenty of books and sites will tell you what an ideal weight for a certain height should be. *big "whatever" from me* If your BMI is 25 or lower, they'll be happy. That isn't your ideal weight though. When you get to a weight or even a size that you feel comfortable and happy with, then that's the ideal weight for you. If you're already near 150 and you're not there yet, then that's not it for you. If you get to 140 and you're happy as a clam, then you're there.
  12. I'm an ex-chemist. I know what .6 ml looks like, thanks It's a tiny drop. I'm theorizing that it's hanging out in the tubing, but am looking for something more concrete. Though I should go see if google knows how much volume the tubing holds. Thanks! Linda
  13. Dr. Ortiz will make the call. There was a person in your situation exactly the day Diamond Jim and I got banded. She hadn't put down the pounds already lost correctly and they were concerned. Congratulations on your success so far! Some days it's hard to see the forest for the trees and maybe it's Dr. Miranda's turn to have one of them. Give yourself a day to collect your thoughts into a clear, unpassionate e-mail and re send.
  14. I did ask, but since Dr. Berger didn't do the first fill, he really didn't say.. Personally, I have to wonder if it's a combination of flushing out the gases....putting 1.6 in, .6 living in the tube connecting port to band (those don't collapse and empty nicely) and 1 hanging out in the band. Happy to hear from the rest of you with your ideas!
  15. When I went to TJ last month for a fill, Dr. So put in 1.6cc. When I had a fill yesterday, Dr. Berger could only extract 1.0 cc. Is the missing .6 cc living in the tubing between band and port? That's all I can figure out. Then he put in 1.75ccs. I'm on liquids today, so I'll know restriction (or not) soon. ps) I'm not really worried about a leak yet. No reason it wouldn't all leak out if I had one.

Just seeing if emptying your boxes and putting stuff away are providing your daily workout
  17. $225 with fluoro. What IS it with hottie bariatric surgeons??? Never hurts to have a cute Dr, right? Very nice. They do fills in the Ambulatory Surgical Center next to the Flagstaff hospital. They check you in, weigh you, do BP and heart rate, then into the surgical area...He finds your port, puts a round tool like a target on your tummy over the port spot while the x-ray is showing the overlay, makes a mark, cleans the area, numbs it and then withdraws the original fluid and adds more while you drink the stuff that fluoresces. You stand for the process and I like standing MUCH better than reclining and trying to sit up with a 4" needle sticking out of you. Two thumbs up. I'm grateful to have a good option to our equally good option of going to TJ.
  18. I added it to yogurt and it was quite nice. If you're adding a protein supplement to milk, there's no reason to go "no carb", since milk has plenty of carbs. The Isopure is just fine, but honestly, I like Muscle Milk better.
  19. Yes, you should get a passport, though you won't need it for this trip, you'll need one eventually.

No issues. I was banded 6/16, went diving 7/25 right before my first fill on 7/28. They remove all the gases (which do compress) during your first fill. Liquids (e.g. saline) do not compress afterwards. I've had LASIK, too, also no issues.
  22. Yes, just as soon as I'm able to say I've lost more than 7 pounds ;-) Linda
