  1. Hi, I am 20 days post-op. Still sticking with the post-op diet until the very last second. I had blood sugar issues prior to my surgery. But I was able to keep control without medications. My A1C number was on the high side of normal. Since my surgery my blood sugar has soared to 180 and I can not get it to go down. I feel SO tired. My doctor put me on Metformin on Monday. I have had 2 doses and my blood sugar is still not moving.

    Any insight, suggestions or anything?

Does high blood sugar make you feel really sleepy?

Did anyone else experience this after surgery?

  2. Hi,

I totally agree with you. I have not told any longtime friends that knew me skinny. I have told 1 close work friend that understands my struggle. She is very fit, but justs wants me to be happy. But during my weight loss struggles I actually had a friend say, "just give that up, aren't you tired of talking about diets". I never talk about this with her since then.

And of course the family is another thing. I have plenty of relatives that have had cosmetic surgeries even tummy tucks, breast lifts, face lifts. And 1 of them had all of these. But I know they would talk about it behind my back in a negative way.

So mainly, it is between me and this forum!!!

By the way, my too tight skirt 16 plus is falling off of me today. I am 20 days post op. I have lost almost 20 pounds. People are already commenting. I am happier than I have been in a long, long time.

Funny how being fat changes me. I have so much going for me, great husband, great kid, great job....... But I am unhealthy, unhappy and low self-esteem. I have had so much anxiety about death..... But now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it makes want to cry when I think about the better person and mom I will be.

    Hugs and kisses,

    Amy

  3. Hi, I was wondering today if that sensation ever goes away. I was thinking about posting on it, but could not think of the right way to word it. My medication makes me full for hours after taking it and I am on day 19 post-op. But I feel so hungry somewhere in my stomach. I sure hope something gets rid of this feeling of constant hunger. I am really depending on the band to this for me so I can make healthy choices from a calm place rather than ravenous.

  4. I notice that when I start dieting, the scales don't move for weeks. Then all of a sudden I will lose up to 5 pounds. If I can keep the momentum up and not get discouraged, my body will keep losing weight. I found this to be true on the post-op. I am so bad with my water intake. I think that boosting my water would probably accelerate my weight loss. I am trying to get better though.

  5. Yes, I am doing very well with weight loss on the 21 days of liquids. I can eat solids this Friday, 8/21. I only lost 4 pounds on the preop depending on the day the I weighed & who weighed me. I have lost 13 more on the post-op. So now I hoping to lose some on the next 3 weeks before my first fill. I have huge anxiety that I will not be able to control my appetite. I got really hungry today while driving around. Every fast food restaurant was calling my name......AMY COME SEE ME ON FRIDAY....... yikes.... I am scared about solid foods.

Today, I actually ate in a restaurant for the 1st time since surgery. They have awesome tomato basil soup. It was so,so good. I have learned that I can be satisfied eating like the dainty, skinny person I want to be. But it takes so much control..... I am going to try to keep this up during 3 weeks before my 1st fill.

  6. oh.... thanks KittyCat...... I have seen other folks talk about mushy stage too who banded by Dr. Ortiz over a year ago. I think he must have removed the mushy week from his plan. I have a friend that was banded by him and swears there is a mushy week in the 21 days. Any how..... 21 days of liquids for me!!!
