  1. They now say that diet drinks actually contribute to obesity. I believe it and am toally free from my Diet Coke addiction.
  2. Warm liquids like tea help to calm your stomach. staying hydrated and getting in some protein is the key. If you can, make some homemade chicken broth by putting a whole chicken-yes , even the skin-in a pot, cover with water, add carrotts, celery, garlic, dill if you have it. Bring to a boil then simmer for 1 hour. Remove chicken, strain out veggies-sip the broth. It always works for me. Hope you feel better.
  3. That's because they took down all the great postings from Jann and kittycat.
  4. Do searches in the forums. These are all well documented already, just need to pull them up and read. The problem you will have is that many people offer their interpetations and quasy medical advice which often times is inaccurate and down right dangerous. Don't be afraid to search for the truth, it's out there.
  5. And don't forget kittycat and jann...it's their 6 month bandiversary too!!!!! Congrats to all you beautiful ladies!!!!!
  6. Scales are not bad, they are not evil. Scales don't make you pigout, you make you pigout. To be successful with your band you must be honest about what you really are eating, truthful about wheter or not you actually exercise. Without exercise, there will be no weight loss, sorry peeps, it's a fact of life. As for getting on the scale-once a week on the same day of the week, at the same time of day, preferably first thing in the morning after you have just gotten up and used the toilet. Butt naked for the most accurate weight. Read the weight then move on to the next week. If you gained...be honest...and move on If you lost weight...celebrate...and move on
  7. It's recommened to drink 8 8oz glasses of water per day. Of course with a band you have to pace that out over the course of your day. As for the milkshake-measure it out and use a spoon. Soups-measure them out. This is your learning time, learn to measure, learn to pace, learn from your band. It will tell you when things aren't right.
  8. What I find insulting is that whenever the rightous don't agree with what you say, your comment gets turned in to something it's not. My comment was just that, a comment...nothing more, nothing less, not any more political than the ones that came before it on this post. Peace out,
  9. Americans need to get back to the basics. Stop using credit to keep up with the Jones, stop eating all your meals out, remember that it's okay for our children to want for something, it makes them appreciate it more when the finally get it. Stop and smell smell the roses, don't over-schedule your kids, take time to be a family....like the good old days. Were you happier without all this technology....I was Remeber when we could go on vacation and be "away" Remeber when Sunday meant family time....not shopping day Look at the bright side.....maybe this will get everyone back on the right track.
  10. Welcome, may your stay be brief on the journey to Onederland.
  11. I like the Muscle Milk Lite. I had to drink a couple before I came to that decision but what really did it for me is that no matter how tight I'm feeling, i have never slimmed or PB'd after drinking it. I like the pre-made-easy to tote around for when you really need something but aren't in the right spot.
  12. My advice is stay off the scale for 2 weeks. The body needs time to heal, fluid retention after surgery is normal and temporary. It took years to gain the weight, it's not going away overnight so be patient you have taken the biggest step by just having the surgery. Hnag in there!!!!
  13. Some people pay out of pocket, some are able to get insurance to pay for it. Explore both options and see what works for you. Weight loss surgery doesn't carry the big taboo that it did years ago. Explore, research and make your decisions form there. I will never regret becoming a bandster.
  14. One time when I was wearing a pedometer, it fell off........in the toilet I just flushed it and kept on going
  15. I have her book and DVD but have never tried it. I think I'll put it on my list of things to do this weekend. The talking too much does sound annoying though.
  16. [Happy Birthday to both you beautiful bandsters!!!
  17. I wasn't banded at OCC but I didn't hit my sweet spot until my 3rd fill. Interestingly when I complained that I had no restriction the doc decided to "change out" all of my fill to see if that made a difference. Surprisingly it did and with less fluid put back in. I do go back next week for a Fluro fill to see how the pouch is and how the port positioning is. I was concerned when I was told this but they said it was normal to do this s what ever.
  18. Great job!!!!! > > > How many steps did you end up with?
  19. Well Taz, this challenge has sure motivated me. Last night before bed I was at 9865 so I walked around the house until I met 10,000-when I went to bed I was at 10008. My legs are sore today but it's so totally worth it !!!!
  20. =D> It was a 5K so a bout 3 miles. I did it last year but this time it was so much easier with 43 lbs less of me to haul around. My goal is to run it next year.
  21. On Sunday I walked the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer walk and racked up 17,852 steps for the day. Today I'm already at 5004. I love my pedometer, it makes you be more active. =D>
  22. Sorry to hear you cancelled your surgery. Stay on , the support helps.

    Weight limit?

If your BMI is over 35, insurance will often pay for it. My brother is quite large and actually has to loose weight before they will band him.
  24. Congrats!!! Sounds like you are on the road to recovery. hope all goes well, take it easy the first few weeks and welcome to the wold of bander.
  25. I switched to iced tea and have not missed my Diet Coke/Diet DP at all. I too tried a sip recently and found that it just wasn't like I remembered. The one thing I did do was start switching over to the Iced Tea before surgery.
