  1. Thank God I have not had that problem. I am so paranoid about farting that I think I have my body trained not to do it or else..... But this does not stop my kids. My daughter is 5 and she is so tiny and innocent looking but she can let them rip. She really thinks they are funny so she does not mind doing it in public. Well, I took her shopping a few weeks ago and she gave out a 40 year old, beer guzzling, chili dog eating, man fart. Oh my goodness, how this little thing lets them loose. Well no one in the store would EVER believe that big noise (and big smell) toot came out of my little princess who didn't even flinch. Guess who they blamed it on? I could see it in their eyes. It is just not fair, I can't even get away with it when it wasn't even me!!!!!!!
  2. The only time I came close to PBing is when I tried to eat COLD pasta too quickly. Scares me to death to think of it coming up so I won't try that again. BTW-I see you have a banding date. I am so happy for you!!!! We started on this forum about the same time and I have been rooting for you ever since. good for you.
  3. great post jann, I have noticed a huge difference in this weight loss compared to my weight loss in other diets. I relied on diet soda for my liquids. I would try to drink water but the diet pepsi tasted so much better. Now on the lapband, I can't have diet pepsi so I am drinking water constantly. The funny thing is....I love it!!!! I have lost my cravings for diet pepsi. I read on a post before I had surgery that someone lost their cravings for soda and i thought to myself, that will never be me. But it is. I am losing a little easier on the this. A lot to do with the protein and a lot to do with the lack of soda. BTW- I read that pepsi had something like a 3 billion dollar loss in the 3 rd quarter---I had no idea I actually used to drink that much pepsi.
  4. Congratulations!!!!! Time does fly but you are in for a tough journey. Don't over do it. You will feel okay but you need to take it easy. Get some rest between walking. This is still major surgery. Gas is a killer to some, I know it was for me. Try not to let air in when you do sip. Try to pour the water/broth in instead of sipping. This is the beginning to a whole new life. Embrace it!!!! I look forward to hearing about all the victories that are in the close future.
  5. HUGE fan of NKOTB!!!! Loved loved loved Joe. Donnie is looking a bit better these days though. Glad you had a great time. I think I would have felt like a pre-teen again if I went. Oh the days. You look great (of course). Can't wait to wear one of those strappy tops!!! I am so jealous!!!!!
  6. Wow, Being new and not having any fills yet this reminds me of the rules. I have noticed that since it has been near 5 weeks since I have been off the liquid diet, I have been slacking with the rules. Just because I have not felt any harm from not following them. Thanks for reminding me to take it slowly.
  7. I actually called him myself. He is really not all that expensive. 325 for a blind fill and 550 (I think) with flouro. I plan to make an appointment soon.
  8. I am so SORE!!!!! Geez louise. Cardio blast yesterday was more of a sculpting class. She had 40 pound barbells and 8 pound weights. I had....soup cans. . She also had mini steps that were about 2 feet off the ground, I had....the ground. I just about passed out. Leg lunges are the DEVIL!!!!! My butt, thighs, shoulders and upper back are still wiggly. THis does get better, right?
  9. I was banded on Sept 2. I am sitting here and before I even read this post I was thinking to myself that the port area is really sensitive today. Like my skin was rubbed raw. I guess this is just one of the things that we need to live with.
  10. That is so cool!!! I for one, know how much this could be a family problem. Obesidy runs in familys. Good for you all for taking control now and saying it stops here.
  11. Hey there, i also did the ensure high protein shakes. I lost 10 pounds in the 12 days I was on it. So it could not be all that bad. They taste actually pretty good. I am sure you could do some cough syrup or at least some dayquil and nyquil. It does not have that many calories. don't torture yourself during this time, it will only make things worse. You need to be excited, not miserable. Trust me, the next 5 weeks are hard enough. If i can do it, Anyone can.
  12. Since I am traveling alone, I would prefer not to stay the night in TJ and just fly home the same day as the fill. Is that possible. If I could get to SD at around 10:15 am and fly out at 5:00pm. Would that be enough time for the fill and to return to the airport? Has anyone done it?
  13. someone mentioned listerine pocket patches, the ones that dissolve on the tongue. I tried those and they really get the saliva glands working. this helps with the dry mouth. As far as the throat thirst, I just have to deal with it. i watch the clock and as soon as the one hour mark hit, I down a bottled water. This is the hardest thing for me. Try going with moist foods so that you do not get so thirsty. Avoid starch if you can, that is the killer for me. Good luck. this is all new to me too and I hate not drinking while eating. But I am so freaked out about stretching my pouch that that motivates me to wait. They say the water or fluid can cause the food in your pouch to expand and then stretch the pouch. SO keep that in mind. i am sure you would hate to let a little water screw up everything you have been through so far.
  14. I was told no ab workouts for 3 months. And I, too, love the idea of the skinny bitch diet. I have not been a skinny bitch for years.
  15. Well I did the "shimmy" and guess what? it was bellydancing!!!! Ha ha ha, I gave a whole new meaning to the word, "belly" dancing. It was not as intense so I managed the whole thing and it sure was FUN!!! What a motivator it is to watch all these womens with the flat 6-pack abs. I am going to do everyother day the cardio blast then the everyother day "shimmy". Sure wish I had this when I was still with my hubby, we may not be separated now. . I am loving the endorphene(sp?) rush. Makes me feel a lot better all through the day. I can't wait to get going again tomorrow morning. Okay maybe not the cardio blast again but no pain, no loss, right? Thanks all for making me feel like I am not the only one making a fool of myself in my own living room. At this point I am glad that not even my dog is here to watch my disgrace. . it will get better though, I just need to continue with it.
  16. So, I recorded Cardio Blast on Fit TV for my first exercise since being banded. I have walked but I thought I could kick it up a bit with some cardio. UGGGGHHHH. First of all I found my lightweight pair of shorts and a sports bra. I thought i was all set to complete a 30 minute workout. I turned on the video and soon learned I would be doing some kickboxing...cool. So we start with the punches. This is not so bad, I thought. I started to hear something though. What was that? OMG, it is my wings slapping against my body. GROSS. We then start adding some kicks, I guess the heavier the legs the harder the kicks are. I started huffing and puffing and barely able to lift my leg off the ground. The instructor then said, "Good job with the warmup, lets get started"--WHAT??!!?? started? I thought I was almost done. So we get "started" and she starts encorporating some jumping jacks and jogging. Does she not have boobs? I do not think they make a sports bra that is strong enough to hold my girls during jumping jacks. So will I am attempting to jump I had to hold on to the chest with one hand and punch with the other. Besides the girls hopping around on me, I had everyother part of my body out of time with the jumps. I would jump up, my butt and tummy would go down, I would go down and my butt and tummy would go up. I need a whole body sports bra. I am so glad I did not attempt to go to a gym and do this, I looked ridiculous!!! Needless to say, I did not complete the entire workout. Kickboxing kicked my butt. BUT, I am not giving up. I know that this is somthing I have to build up to. I just had no idea how bad out of shape I was. I used to go to the gym and do pilates and work on the eliptical but this is something completely different. it is just my body doing the work and it keeps me moving continuously. I am just about ready to go and do my "Shimmy" workout that I also recorded on Fit TV. So I hopefully will be alive to post about that one too. To all of you seasoned workout goddesses, my hats off to you for getting as far as you have. Being in shape means being in pain for quite some time, not to mention how it can be somewhat degrading at the beginning. But those endorphenes did kick in a little later and I did feel great. I gotta go shimmy now, wish me luck!!
  17. After my surgery I was in the van back to the airport. A lady was in the van who just had the band removed. She said her band had slipped and she was getting some major problems. I started getting nervous that it might be easy to have a slipped band. She said it was her own fault since she drank soda the day of surgery and everyday afterward. There is no carbonated drinks that are good. Not even a slushie. I cannot even imagine adding any extra gas into something that does not like it in the first place. Water has never tasted so good.
  18. I have been told that you can have sex when you feel up to. Just no crazy positions that could hurt the port. Carefully step into it.
  19. Perfect post Donna, I am guilty of all of the above. I am going to come back to this post each time i feel weak. thanks for the wisdom
  20. i was told not to take baths. But anyway, glad to hear you are doing good and on the other side. Take it easy, do not rush your recovery. some days may be harder than others. Take it one day at a time and listen to your body when it tells you to slow down. We are all here for you!!!!!
  21. This may be a stupid question but where does one find a "powertool"? Also, thanks stormy. we should go out and kick some skinny stick butt
