  1. I live in San Diego and have been to the OCC twice for both of my fills since surgery and we haven't had a problem once. You just need to be aware of your surroundings, like any place. Don't worry. You will be fine!
  2. I got my second fill last Friday and have had great restriction all week, eating between 1000-1200 calories a day with no hunger in-between. Today I woke up and it seem like I have NO restriction today...I mean none. I've been hungry and eating way more than in the past week. My question is...is it normal to have this vast of a fluctuation during a "good" (or so I thought) fill? Does this happen? It's kinda depressing... Just in case, I have 2.8cc's in a 4cc band. Thank you for any advice or suggestions or comments!
  3. Wow! You look like a totally different person...especially in your face! Congrats!
  4. "Productive Burping"- I know that I'm not probably the expert on this, but it's when I piece of food gets stuck and can't get through the stoma. You basically have to throw it up, but it's not really "throw up" since it never got to your stomach to begin with. It's the piece of food plus digestive juices that look like slime. It's really not as violent as it seems--it just happens and then you stop eating for awhile. If anyone knows of a better way to explain it, then it is much appreciated! As to the financing, I don't know. I was lucky enought to have my surgery paid for in cash.
  5. I know your pain! After my 21 days were up, I just wanted to chew something...anything! I was really craving olives and salad...odd, I know. Well, let us know what your first meal will end up being.
  6. I just got my second fill Friday at the OCC. I had 1.8cc's left out of the original 2cc's-- the fill Dr. added the 2cc's plus .8 more for a grand total of 2.8cc's. He told me he couldn't believe how loose my band was and that he had to add so much for a second fill-- Anyway, the point of all that is...Wow! I now know what restriction is...and there is definitely a learning curve to it. Today I pb'd twice, but I know the fill isn't too tight because I can still drink liquids very easily. They aren't kidding when they say to take small bites and chew! 'Cause the food will get stuck. This is what I've learned in the past 24 hours--tortillas bad, cereal bad, english muffin okay is eaten extremely slow. Popcorn okay. Apples fine. And low and behold, salad doesn't hurt anymore! Go figure. Okay, sorry for the rant, but I get it now!!
  7. Hmmm...that sounds painful! I hope you find a solution. I had mine out when I was 16, and that was painful, too! Feel Better!
  8. They say everyone is different. I got 2cc's in my 4cc band on my first fill, but had no restriction except that I didn't chew well enough about two times and the food got stuck...but it went down pretty easily. I'm getting another fill on Friday with hopefully some success.
  9. You definitely qualify at the OCC. I was 80lbs. overweight when I had the lapband done 3 months ago. Good luck!
  10. Hi, I'm another in the same boat as you...my first fill was 2cc's in my 4cc band. The OCC said they wouldn't put anymore in...I have gained 5 pounds in the month they made me wait to come back for another fill (they told me you could only come every 4 weeks). Thankfully, I go on Friday for another fill. Hopefully I can start losing again after this fill! Good luck to you. I hope this fill is better.
  11. Hi G, I'm sorry to hear about your ordeal, but impressed at your weight loss. I've had no restriction at 2cc's and I am going for a 2nd fill on the 7th. You started at 1.8cc's, before you had your second fill...How much did the doctor put in your band that put you over the top so to speak? I'm afraid of being overfilled and wasn't sure how much to request. Thank you for any help and I hope you are feeling better!
  12. It's been 3 months since surgery and I didn't blend pizza in a blender. I stayed true to the liquid diet. I can eat the Sara lee 45 calorie wheat bread well, just not thicker breads. No one told me anything about not eating salad at the OCC.
  13. Hi, I love salad but ever since I've been banded it seems to upset my stomach (burning and gurgling) when I eat salad by itself. If it's in a sandwich or pita or with something it's usually okay but if not, it always hurts about an hour after and for a long time. Does anyone else have salad issues? It kinda sucks because salad is good for you. Wait. Maybe it's the dressing and not the lettuce? Anyone have any thoughts? I've been using that wishbone spray in Italian and Caesar. I'm afraid of ranch dressing now. Thank you!
  14. I have this same problem. After my first fill of 2cc's in a 4cc band, I had very little to no restriction either. I had my first fill on Oct. 10th and I'm going for another one on Nov. 7th...the OCC wouldn't let me come back for another fill until after 4 weeks had passed. I'm hoping they'll give me at least .5 more cc's. I was curious about the "kick in" point as well...but from what I understand, it's totally different for everyone. I've noticed that most people don't hit that spot until the 3rd fill.
  15. Hey All, I had my first fill on October 10th...2cc in a 4cc band. I have had very little restriction since...a couple of times I have had the throat lump, but other than that...nada. Do you think November 7th is too early to get a second fill? I live in San Diego so, I go to the OCC for fills. How much should I request? I realize that people have had too tight problems recently, but I literally have had practically no restriction and lost no weight since the fill. (I must admit, it is a conscious effort for me still to not drink with my meals. I am always just so thirsty and this probably plays into my issues). I am making a huge effort to not drink with my meals, but still no restriction and still I can eat. So, how much do I request? Or do I get to request? Thank you in advance for any advice/help! I appreciate it. --Angela
  16. Let's see...it would take about 30 minutes to get to T.J. from the airport. I got my first fill last week...they made me wait 1 hour and 45 minutes to get the fill. The actual fill took 5 minutes. 2 hours to get back across the border. 20 minutes to get back to the airport. You'll be cutting it close, but should have enough time. I haven't done it because I live in San Diego, but I'd say you should be okay. Just make it clear when you check in for your fill that you're on a time schedule because Mexico runs on it's own time frame.
  17. They told me no sex for 10 days, then two weeks only with you on top. Then the sky's the limit!
  18. Hi, I'm 5'9 and I started at 241lbs...I've been banded 7 weeks and have lost 21 lbs so far. I'm getting my first fill this coming Friday.
  19. Hi-- I just got blood work done and apparently, my cholesterol and glucose is still high. I've lost 20 lbs. since being banded, but I have yet to get my first fill (that will be on Oct. 10th). Does anyone know where I can get a sample menu for a 1200 calorie a day diet? All my doctor would tell me is to lose more weight. I am not a very good cook, but I can only handle the lean cuisines about 2-3 times a week. Also, I have to take my lunch to school 3 times a week. I thank you in advance for any help/advice. Thanks, Angela decision- 241 pre-op- 236 current- 220
  20. Hi, I did lose a friend of over ten years because I got the band...when I told her, she got really angry, called me an idiot numerous times, expressed her outrage that I was going to Mexico, and even though I've tried calling a few times since...she won't return my calls. I don't think that she doesn't understand that it's just as difficult losing weight with the band...it really isn't a miracle "cure" for obesity. It just helps.
  21. Rene told me not to have sex for 10 days afterwards and then only to be "on top" for two weeks after that...I tried about 5 days after and it didn't work out because of the bloating and tummy hurts. Good Luck! 1
  22. I got a receipt the day after my surgery. I know it's too late to tell you this if you didn't already know, but Mexico runs on it's own time. Just keep calling, or have them fax it. That might be quicker. I'm sorry that you've had to wait so long.
  23. Rene at the OCC told me this just happens with some people and to use milk of magnesia. I had to use it twice during the post op diet. Just whatever you do, only take 1.5 tablespoons, not 3!
