  1. HAHA So glad you didn't die from the cottage cheese and pears Misty! LOL ) Nah, you are fine, no worries!
  2. I plan to blend just briefly. For one it makes the protein foam up if you blend to much. Also, let it set a minute before you drink it. The air will settle. Glad to know we can blend the protein powder, mine does much better that way!
  3. Oh, I am eating plenty! But, some that were blending up foods werent losing anymore. Dr. Miranda says we should lose and definitely not gain during this time if we do things correctly. So, I am just trying to do what she says. It would Suck to drink liquids and not lose anything for 3 weeks. Again, it is to stay away from those high calorie liquids. Thanks!
  4. Yes, it is Wylers broth granules and it comes in a small 2.25 oz bottle. I would get those. It is so much better than bouillon cubes. I mean you have to drink this for a week so get the best. Also, you will notice that HOT stuff goes down much easier. So, not sure if you like coffee, but if you do get some. You can have non- dairy creamer. I got the liquid non fat vanilla. This is my treat every morning. I also got de-caff so I can drink it in the evenings if I want. When I drink really cold stuff it is like it stops at the top of my throat. I have enjoyed my coffee! Also, don't forget you can have drinkable Yogurt day 7. I got weak on day 4 so Dr. Miranda told me I could have them then. Get the Dan Active Immunity, they are 4 oz sizes and they are great! I did not eat much the week of surgery and I experienced hardly any gas. So, if you can refrain from the Mexican tacos, do it! It will make a difference in how you feel after surgery. I ate the chicken broth at the Lucerna for dinner the night before surgery. I wish you best! Enjoy your time at the OCC, it goes very fast!
  5. Mike, Your family is an inspiration. I think it is wonderful! I posted a comment on the momlogic article. People don't know what they are talking about half the time. lol Hey, I wanted to tell you that the day I posted this, a Dallas radio station was actually talking about this and my husband came home talking about it. He said, 'they said it is a main story on AOL so look it up.' I knew it was your family before I even saw it. I just thought it was neat that way out here it stirred up conversation on the air waves. Keep up the great work.....all of you! Dana~
  6. Don't be afraid of using Skim milk, I am using half skim half water and I am still losing a lb a day! When you think about it, we are not getting in many calories. So, you will be fine.
  7. You are welcome! You guys are family now, we have to look out for each other! I just want us all to lose the MAXIUM amount, especially on this 21 post-op I did read over Dr. O's book last night, and it states you can blend up foods, but nothing with meat in it. At any rate, Dr. Miranda says no right now. So, let's just re-focus and I am sure the scale will start dropping again! Have a great week!
  8. Stormy, I heard that until you get your fill, you can eat just about whatever. So, you need to be sticking to small portions and healthy choices. When I start on food, I am going to try Lean Cuisines or Healthy Choices most of the time. Dana
  9. There was a discussion today on the Shoutbox about whether or not we can Blend food up during our 21 days post-op. The answer is NO! Here is my email to Dr. Miranda today, and her response. Let's all lose the most amount we can on our liquid diet phase! On Sun, Oct 19, 2008 at 12:32 PM, <RedCarpetDana@aol.com> wrote: Hi Dr. Miranda! This is Dana Ball. I was banded 10/10. I have lost a total of 21 lbs. YEAH! That is a total of 9 lbs since my surgery, I am very happy. Anyway, I am now on full liquids and there is a discussion going on about when and if we can use a blender. I was unsure and I have only eaten soups and yogurts to date so I wanted to ask you to know the correct answer. On the Pre-Op Diet I was using a Protein Powder. I was blending in a blender that with water/skim milk and ice. Can we do this on the All liquid diet? Someone stated that we couldn't because it creates air in the drink. Also, other people are talking about eating chili, cottage cheese and fruit because they are blending to a liquid form. They stated in Dr. O's book he says if you can get it through a straw you can eat it. To me, this seems very fattening. Can you answer if we are supposed to be doing this, so I can let my friends know? Thank you Dr. Miranda! Dana~ Hello Dana: yes we do not encourage the use of the blenders for food, that is an easy way to not lose weight, hey if they are going to put chili in the blender then they put cottage cheese then pizza .. We gave you a paper stating DO NOT USE A BLENDER. If you can't drink it don't eat it don't blend it either. If your shake need to be blended with ice it is OK. Dr. Miranda
  10. How do these taste? I saw them and was curious!
  11. OMG Natalie! I am so sorry! It does sound like the medicine made you sick. Wow. I have tried finding liquid meds and it sounds like that may be best. So sorry girlfriend! Get better real soon!
  12. Congrats on your surgery! It is wonderful you are finally able to do it! I am just 8 days post op and doing great! You will enjoy your time at the OCC, everyone is wonderful! Take care of yourself and have a great trip!
  13. I was sick a few weeks ago and at the Dr. and I got my flu shot while I was there. I have never noticed that it makes you feel worse. Get it when you can!
  14. How are you doing? I finally had surgery and have lost 9 pounds since 10/10. Let me know how you are. Have you had your first fill?

  15. Aw Julie! Sounds so sweet! Guess what? Yesterday my Dad was driving and out darting in the road is a lil 3 lb Chi! (I already have 2). He almost hit her, jumped out and got her and stopped the on coming traffic. Anyway, there were no tags or anything on her! I can't imagine a precious lil dog with no tags. We are going to look for signs and if we don't find anything, either keep her or find her a home. Taking her to a shelter is NOT an option. I am so glad you rescued one! Have fun with Gumby!
  16. WOO HOO! I can't wait to have a fill! Congrats! Keep up the good work!
  17. I am using my Starbucks Mug for my soup! Actually, I am still going to do broth too. I don't want to pig out on the creamy stuff. LOL
  18. I have to say that the emotional distraught you feel as an obese child is far worse than any feelings you could possibly have after going through a surgery! I KNOW it will be one of the best things ever for Joey!
  19. Oh yes! All I ever have in my house is skim milk. The ones that say milk or water, I am going to use water. But, there are some that say add milk. I will add the skim to those. Thanks everyone! I appreciate your input!
  20. Wow, I didn't think about this! I guess you can get creative!
  21. I commented too! People just Tick me off sometime. It is enough to be obese and go through being teased as a child or even treated differently as adults. NOW, they do something about it and they are STILL in the wrong. People can be cruel and they have no heart sometimes!
  22. Try putting Sugar free Hersheys syrup in it! Hang in there! You can do it! (we all made it through, lol)
  23. Have a great time with your Mom! Sounds fun! We will try to hold down the forum the best we can without ya. But, we will miss ya girlfriend!
  24. I have AOL, not sure if any of you do and if so you might have noticed this. I think it is wonderful that the Fishells gave their son a choice to have surgery for his obesity! Otherwise, he would STILL be struggling. The U.S. doesn't allow this, but Thank God for Dr. Ortiz and the OCC! I got a little upset reading the comments, people are so quick to judge. They are IDIOTS! Anyway, I wanted to share this. I think it is awesome that they have gone public. It will speak volumes to other parents thinking 'there is nothing they can do.' Please watch the video! http://www.momlogic.com/2008/10/surgery_fo...page=2#comments
  25. There is a bad cold going around. I got one 2 weeks prior to surgery and tried to treat it with theraflu, vitamin c etc. After 5 days I realized it wasn't working and went to the Doc. You might want to do that! I had to take Augmentin to kick mine, I had a sore throat, runny nose, etc.
