  1. Hi Joy, When I was on my preop diet, I had use Metamucil capsules that Dr. Miranda had us on. Have you taken these? It sure curbed my hunger pains for sure! I took one at 10am and then one at 3pm... I had my surgery last week, and just finished yesterday on my 'clear liquid' stage, and today is my first day on 'creamy soups'! Woo hoo!. I am progression up! LOL Hope to hear about your surgery afterwards...congrats on your decision to be banded - you won't regreat this!! Jude =)
  2. Hmmm...yummy scallops. I get this funny feeling you are not a fan of seafood either, eh? YUMMY! Jude =)
  3. Jann! You are killing me now with all this laughter! I am holding my left side (my poor port bruise!) and teary eyed right now. I thought I wasn't to have any abs exercises! LOL OK...I'll stop torturing you for now...see my future recipes later! HA! Jude (( HUGS! ))
  4. Interesting...I am still going to check in out...maybe it's the batter contents...or the combo of both the batter and the syrup? I will investigate on this further... OK...not to keep focusing on the oysters... BUT really, you must have had a bad experience as to not liking it. If it was cooked, baked, cleaned, etc, right, you would really enjoy it with the cocktail sauce that comes with it, or cooked and chopped in salads or part of a filling or stuffing. I guess it's like chicken livers....I LOVE, LOVE them too. I've got some good recipes for them too. HIGH in protein, like the oysters! Jude =)
  5. HAHAHA...the Skinny Bitch diet? I wonder what that is? too funny!! But I have a question...I thought you couldn't exercise until AFTER 3 months from your surgery? Am I missing something here? All I am doing is the walks, which I hate, cause it's soooo boring. I need to have a walkman for music listiening. And I do a few arms and legs exercises but not anything hard core do the recovery of the surgery. So, really, at what point can I actually do the videos exercises? Thanks for any suggestions and comments...I totally miss exercising!! Jude =)
  6. You know, I am one for being inquisitive to find out what makes things tick. I wonder why not pancake, if taken some amount as you did? I am thinking because it's like a bread type of thing or the syrup that may have been on top? Interesting...I love waffles and if pancakes does that to you...there is NO way I will subject myself to what you went through for a yearing for waffles! Hey, oysters are good for you! It's an aphrodiac(sp?) for most! LOL Jude
  7. Omigoodness gracious! I can only imagine how you felt! But you know, I would have done the same thing...not wanting to hurt his feelings. My hubby, too, wants to please me but is not educated enought to know what is best for me to eat. But, this is a valuable lesson to learn as you say. Before I got banded last week, I had a serious talk with my hubby about healthier eating habits. I told him there are certain foods I can no longer eat and will have to substitute with other food items, etc. As he does the major cooking for most meals, I told him that I would like to try new recipes (thanks to all your recipes posts!) and if he would like to participate in preparing it, cool! OR, if he decides on his own to 'surpirse' me, to check my meal calendar to make sure I can have the foods he is fixing. This seems to work thus far, even though I just finished my first preop 'clear liquids' stage. He nows knows that I am in the 'creamy soups' stage an has looked at the variety of soups I've printed for him to make, etc. Thank you Jann, for this post, as it reimforces me to remind my hubby as much as he loves me, to make sure I can really eat the foods he's preparing. God loves our hubbys! Jude =)
  8. Heidi! As I am reading your post, I am laughing so hard with tears! I just had my surgery last week, and I am holding my side where the port is because it hurts to laugh!! Oh, I can just see you doing all that and believe me...I understand about the 'girls'!! Thanks for brightening my day first thing! I will be thinking of this when I finally get to do my first exercise! Enjoy your day! Jude
  9. Thanks Denise for explaining - very helpful information! Jude =)
  10. Good luck with your fill Cathy and let us know how you are feeling. As this is a learning tool for me, I like to know how you are feeling and was it a good one for you. Keep us posted sweetie! Jude =)
  11. Hi Crimson! Congrats to you! I was banded last week Wed, 10/8. OCC and the staff were great with me too. They also fix my hiatal too. Give yourself some good rest and remember to SIP, SIP, SIP and WALK, WALK, WALK. This will help any gas you may have and relieve some pain too. When I was there, I had walked the hallways every 2 hours, even in the wee hours of the morning and I didn't have that much gas in me when I was released in the morning. Take care and keep us posted as to how you are doing! Jude =)
  12. A-hem...ready? (stick tapping on desk)... Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to You! HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear Joooooooo! Happy Birthday tooooo YOOUUUU! ...and many, many more! Jude =)
  13. Goodness...it makes me fill at odd spirit to think of how my first fill going to be? I am going to OCC to get all of my fills done as I live in San Diego. It sounds as though you can request an overfill or an underfill...that is what I am confused with. I am thinking AFTER I get my first fill, then I will know when I would need a fill - base on my restriction, I presume. Then, what does the term "sweet spot" mean? Somewhere inbetween the a tight and a loose fill? Sorry...just being a newvie here! Jude =)
  14. Hi Tara, At the bottom, just before you send the message, there's a box asking if you want a copy for your sent box...click on it and then send the message and you can go to your sent box and view what you had sent. I am not sure if there is a limit of how many you can have...being so new at this. Hope this helps! Jude =)
  15. hmm...maybe I need glasses...WHEN is this event? I couldn't find a date anywhere? Jude =)
  16. Jann, This site is wonderful! I am viewing some of these recipes that I can really have when I start my solids in a couple of weeks. Thanks for this...as usual, you really care to share. Your determination to find healthy lifestyle changes for all of us is very much appreciated. Thank you friend! Jude =)
  17. That is exactly what I do. I measure myself when I weigh. I am only weighing myself once a month, so it should be interesting. GREAT post Jann! Jude =)
  18. Thank you all...I believe I understand it better now. I guess, I am rushing into something where I need to take the time to adjust , heal, and focus on my healthier eating habits, for it's for the rest of my life I am striving for... Thanks for the reminder... Jude =)
  19. Lisa - YOU ARE GORGEOUS! Beautiful pictures and thanks for sharing. I am sure this is your sweet moment of your progressive success down the long road. You inspire me and I am so proud of you! As Cathy says, this is a true testimonial of your success with the band! You've worked so hard to get where you are now and it's paying off - look at you! You are a different person! I want to have the same experience that you have gone through and I know I will! Gee, maybe I can be the triplet this time next year? AWESOME girl...keep on banding! Jude =)
  20. OK...I am a newbie and had my surgery last week and want to plan for my first fill. My question is, how do I know when to get my first fill or future fills? I know it is suggested by OCC, if you were banded there, to get your first fill there between 6 to 8 weeks. I am not really clear about fills. I tried to look in the post topic for fills but nothing is giving me a guidline as to what to look for when needing a fill. Can someone help me understand this procedure? Thank you! Jude ^,,^
  21. AWWWW...Amy! That is truly a beautiful story and what a way to start your new life! What an awesome guy her is. You know you have his support and love to do this all for you...well, and for him and your daughter too! HA! I love his special attention to get you to him!! So, is he available for me this Saturday? HA! Congrats Amy! Jude =)
  22. I agree with Jann wholeheartedly. It's important to follow thru your weight loss but to do it smartly. By reading the posts and getting suggestions from others, helps you mold your own weight loss program. Yes, the key is sharing and yes, we do have a kinship on this website. We welcome all and support one another. If you find yourself coming on to this forum more often than you should...take a stand back and find out why you are doing this? Is it because you need the advice of your current issue? Is it because you need to simply talk to another person who understand what you are going through? There are a number of things as to why we are here. But don't lose the concept of what you need to do to reach your weight goal. I come on this forum everyday...but then I also committed my time for being with family, friends, exercising, work, etc. So don't punish yourself for coming on the forum too often. Know what is priority to you and if you need to come to the forum...so be it! Jann said it good, it's the balance of our everyday life between our regular life and lapband life! See you around! Jude =)
  23. is way to fast and hard on your body...no way for right now! HA! The 10Min Trainer is just that...you do certain exercises for 10 minutes and that's it...I like it because it focus on what I want to do...whether it's the legs, or just the arms, or whatever. I agree with rentin the videos and see what you would like. Not all videos are for everyone...you have to pick the one the suits you. I have a few ofr Richard Simmons dance videos and they are simple and easy to follow. The dance DVD on Turbo Jam is too hard for me to follow right now...but I know I can follow thru once the weight is off and I would have more movement and flexibility. Jude =)
  24. Oh my favorite subject! LOL Here's a few videos I like to interchange: Turbo Jam 10 Minute Trainer Slim in 6 Tae Bo - Bootcamp Although I know I can't do the full exercise program until after 3 months, I just don't do the abs part and just do the legs and arms. I need to do some other kind of exercises besides walking! I don't like to walk because it's boring to me...so I am going to ask for a walkman to help me with this. I don't have a walking buddy, so that is out. OK...exercise away! HOO RAH!! Jude =)
  25. Thans Jann! I had no idea! LOL...I should check it out! Jude =)
