  1. Hi Corey, Congrats to you! My surgery is this coming Thurs, 10/9 at TJ. What you are experiencing is mostly like the stress of what you went thru. And, of course, what you are about to do can be stressful too, because of the unknown. It's ok...but if it starts to climb and you still don't feel well, go to your primary doctor to have it check. Good Luck! Jude =)
  2. Hi Trudy, What everyone has said is true. Don't be hard on yourself. Look how long it took you to gain all this weight. Until you a mentally prepared and thinking positive, is when you will go forward from here. I am doing that just now as I will have my suregery this coming Thursday!!! I've been overweight for over 20 years and Iknow it is not good for me healthwise. So, I am planning a 'new me' with a healthier lifestyle...changes that I know that will benefit me in the long run. It's ok to indulge A LITTLE...but don't overdo. Julie also say to drink more water. This is a good thing. I warm up my water because my stomach thinks it's "soup"...and then I start to get full. My son, daughter in law, her sister, and grandson all got banded over 2 months ago and they are doing great! Son lost 48, daughter in law lost 53, her sister, 43, and grandson lost 62! Because they still do the shakes for breakfast and lunch and do regular foods for dinner. They still cut up their foods real tiny and chew like crazy! LOL...well, I am going to try their way and see what happens. Like Cathy says too, every person's body is different...you just need to stick with your restrictions, portion control, AND BE HAPPY! Negative feelings means gaining weight...BUT, Positive thoughts and motivations goes a real long way. MOST IMPORTANT - READ THE POSTS on this forum. It is amazingly helpful and I am gaining soooo much tips for everyone here. Sorry to go on...but I know what you are feeling and I am hoping what we all said helps... Enjoy your day Trudy!! Jude
  3. Hi Barb, I am a newbie and my surgery date is this coming Thursday...YIKES! BUT, my son, daughter in law, her sister and grandson had been banded a couple of months ago. After their first fill, they went to eat and then ended up going back to undo the fill...because they didn't take smaller bits or small portions. The key is to listen to your body and take small steps at all time. Remeber, each time you get a fill, your body needs to adjust to it...but you need to start slow and small again then you can adjust your portion control. Maybe that hamburger didn't get chewed up enough? Hope this helps a little... Jude
  4. Hi Jo! WELCOME! Like you, I am a 'newbie' and my surgery is next week 10/9!!! It's the best decision I've made for myself in a real long time! Also, PLEASE go over the past Posts...they are sooooo informative and lots and lots of suggestions of dos and don'ts! I've already started writing down several things I haven't thought of and good tips too! Soon we will be on the 'other side' and will coach the new ones coming on board! CONGRATS on your decision for a better you! Jude =)
  5. Thank you Willi! It's really mind boggling but it's going to be a fantastic thing I am doing for myself. Jude =)
  6. Hi all - well it's a done deal! I've paid the final payment and my surgery is next week Thur, 10/9. I am excited and so nervous because of the unknown and the reality of it all. I've been trying to read up on some of the forum messages and it's been helping me tremendously. I can't thank you all for assisting me when I asked a question...or two! But honestly, because it is real, my brain just became muddled and it seems like I don't know where to go from here. I looked at Julie's forum regarding suggestion about how to prepare yourself for the surgery, traveling, and post op. WONDERFUL message and I printed it to help me next week. Most of these things I am getting from you all, which I am sure the OCC staff will cover some but not the nitty gritty stuff you all say. OK...here's to a new me and I can't wait to get to the other side and start my new adventure! What a life changing event it is and it's to my health. Enjoy all..I hope to meet a couple of newbies there while at OCC next week, Jude =)
  7. Hi Big Daddy...well you are doing right to look into this. I have and I say the lapband is the more logical choice than the evasive gastric surgery. O have a friend you had did the gastric and she lost 157 lbs but had some hard times and ended up going back to do some corrective surgeries. I don't want that. I am having my surgery a week from today and I am prepared. My son, daughter in law, her sister, and my grandson have all been banded recently (July and August) and I cannot believe the change in them! It is awesome AND they feel GREAT! So for me to see this...I felt confident that lapbanding is the only way to go for me. It helps me to eat right and take control of me, instead of the other way around. My family's success had made my choice very easy and I want to have 'their' lifestyle too! Hope I was able to help you a little... JazzyJude =))
  8. Hi Jason! Congrats and it sounded as though you did alright! YEA! How are SusanP, LisaBen and Oct2 doing? My surgery is next week Thursday, and now I am getting nervous but excited too! Take care and relax and don't forget...take tiny sips and move around (walking) to keep yourself going. OK...talk to you later! LUCKY YOU! JazzyJude ^,,^
  9. You can always drink one of those drinkable yogurts too. It has good flavor...

Hi stormy...you will do ust fine! My surgery date is on Oct 9 and I am so excited but nervous of the unknown. You will enjoy the hotel stay too, with the pools and the restaurants that caters to people who have these surgeries. My son, his wife, her sister, and my grandson all had the surgeries and they said the dr and staff were wonderful and the hotel stay was awesome. I am having the surgery on Thurs, and then I am back to work on that Sunday...so good luck to the both of us!
