  1. My experience flying has always been pretty pleasant. But, I'm sure people hate sitting by me. I paid good money for my seat... so I just let them deal with their own emotions. I did purchase a seat belt extender about a year ago. I don't necessarily "need it" but it is easier for me to use it than to wrestle with getting the seatbelt latched or having to ask for an extender once I was seated. I'll most likely sell mine on eBay in the next couple of months since I won't be needing it anymore. Kristy
  2. My biggest concern was drinking the barium... I have major texture issues. The experience was a breeze for me. The most painful part was when Dr. Acosta pulled the needle out --- ouchie --- but, it was probably because of my fat roll! Kristy
  3. I'm still out on restriction... I have my second fill in two weeks --- perhaps I'll feel more then. But, on a side not... GREAT job on the weight loss. Keep it up! Kristy
  4. I got my first fill a couple of weeks ago, and I'm leaning towards the fact that I still don't have restriction. I've been pretty sick the past week and I haven't felt very hungry. I did try to eat a few carrots yesterday morning and it felt like they got stuck... and, they came up. I'm feeling the stuck feeling with several things so I've been avoiding them since. However, I'm trying to weigh restriction verses stuck. Stuck = Pain. Restriction = Full. Right? Kristy
  5. I was just wondering if there is anyone from the Salt Lake City area on the boards --- I believe there are several. I will be there the weekend of February 13 and February 20... would love to meet up with some other bandsters. I will be staying in the Sandy area. Kristy
  6. Karen, Yay for you! Please share how your consult goes! Kristy
  7. Yeah, I figured the stuff is pretty gross. I'm going to bite the bullet and start tomorrow. Kristy
  8. I got mine in the mail. I want to start it... but, I'm nervous about drinking the powder drink because I gag when I drink protein drinks. I might brave it and start my cleanse tomorrow. Kristy
  9. Anyone going to be at the OCC on February 12-13? I will be having my second fill on Thursday, February 12. Kristy
  10. Have fun! I just registered to run the half marathon at Walt Disney World in January 2010. A goal I set to help me be more dedicated and accountable in the exercise department. I'm so excited just thinking and reading about it... I want to go now! Kristy
  11. You can do it! Positive thoughts headed your way! Kristy
  12. I went alone. I didn't have any issues. And, my journey home started at 5:00 am when my alarm went off and it ended at 10:30 pm when I walked in my front door. I also fly in an itty-bitty-teeny-tiny plane for the last leg of my flight. You'll do fine. I suggest that you check your luggage on the flight home. Be sure to have some Gatorade with you. Kristy
  13. Be sure to follow Dr. Miranda's guidelines. I too had a higher BMI and started my pre-op diet a month before my surgery date. She put me on 1 protein shake in the morning, 1 lean cuisine in the afternoon and 1 lean cuisine in the evening and I was sure to eat lots and lots of green veggies. I lost the "required" 20 pounds. I was also sure to walk some each day. I don't see your surgery being cancelled if you do not meet the "required" weightloss. But, for those of us with an extremely high BMI the surgery is safer if we do all in our power to meet the set goal. Be sure to communicate with Dr. Miranda if you're not losing. She may have different ideas and suggestions. Kristy
  14. Thanks for the information. Today is my first day on solids after my fill. I ate slow. I chewed. And, didn't eat a whole lot. But, I really don't have restriction. It was complete willpower today. I'll see what the week brings. Hopefully with my second fill... I will be using more bandpower than willpower. Kristy
  15. I gained 7 of my 35 loss after starting solids. Then I lost 2 of the 7 before my first fill. This is my third day on liquids after my first fill and I'm back at a 35 loss. I'm going to make better choices between my first and second fill. My second fill is in four weeks. Several of the girls getting their second fill when I was at the OCC on Friday said that they had no restriction after their first fill... so I'm not counting on my band helping me much the next four weeks, so here's to willpower! Kristy
  16. In Mexico. Got my fill. Pretty painless. Met several bandsters. And, now I'm at the hotel. I got 1.4 cc-s in my band. However, I'm not too happy about being on liquids for three days. I'm not hungry, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Kristy
  17. Yay! Congratulations! Great work! Interesting that you posted this now... as I've been debating on doing a half marathon in a year. You give me hope and courage that I can actually do this! Kristy
  18. You incision sounds EXACTLY like mine! I have had issues with my large incision... so much so that Dr. Martinez and Dr. Acosta have called me. The thing that FINALLY worked for me was purchasing blister bandages from Target. They worked wonders! You put them on and they stay put even through showers. I would recommend them 100%! Kristy
  19. Amanda, I have been meaning to ask you... what happened with the charges the hotel put on your credit card? Kristy
  20. Don't get discouraged. And, be sure to get your calories in. If you are not eating enough... your body will fight to hold onto everything! Also, you should have no restriction right now. You don't officially have restriction until you get fills. However, be careful... things can get stuck; bread, meat, etc. I lost 20 pre-op and 15 post-op, but gained 7 after starting solids. I've finally lost those 7... and, I'm looking forward to my fill on Friday which is just over 6 weeks post-op for me. Give it time. The band is healing right now and your body is adjusting to the band. Kristy
  21. Hey... sounds good to me -- see you in a couple of days Jazzy! OICU812 -- I believe I land at 10:10, so I'm pretty sure that we'll be on the same shuttle.
  22. I started on them the day my creamy stage began. I wasn't calorie counting during that time, but I did splurge and bought the Healthy Choice. A lot less sugar and a lot less fat. It was worth it for me. If you have a Safeway grocery store... they often put them on sale... two boxes for $9. I loved them. Kristy
