  1. ckiki, you've done great with 21 pounds lost though! thats awesome. I was losing about a pound a day but that has slowed... I havent been walking much though so I need to kick that in gear. I plan to start next week atleast.
  2. Yeah just a few more days. I am reading other forums and i think the OCC is the only one that requires 3 weeks of liquids. Every other doctor seems to do 2 weeks liquids and the 3rd week starting on soft foods like mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs etc.... i get jealous reading it. lol oh well just a few more days left - i can't wait for some scrambled eggs and maybe some wheat toast!!!
  3. i am in the same boat. I cant stand the yogurt drinks anymore - i have to force those down - I have been having applesauce though - it has helped
  4. I hate almost all protein drinks but I love the Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks. They come in hot chocolate size packs and you mix them with milk and it turns into around 20gr of protein for a 10oz glass and is filling. Its tastes like chocolate milk. not gritty or chalky like most protein drinks and its full of vitamins!
  5. im getting hungry too. what is weird is that i have always been a breakfast person - i wake up starving! but now , i wake up fine and im not hungry till later in the day and then sometimes at night. weird just a week and a half more to go!
  6. LaWanda, Dont be too hard on yourself. I ate 2 potatoes bites out of my potato soup the other night - they went down fine - I was watching tv and didnt even realize i did it until it was too late I am sure you will be fine - I cant wait for the soup to be over - I want scrambled eggs too - ive been craving them with cheese -
  7. Wow BeBe I love those shoes! you look great
  8. Thats great! I was so excited for the soup stage and now I am soo tired of soup lol But like you, just a little gets me really full. Good luck on the rest of the journey- i am about half way to the solid stage
  9. Well how have the rest of the Jan surgeries gone?
  10. I was banded on a Thursday and flew across the country home on Saturday and let me tell you I was in tears by the time I got home (6 hours on a plane and 2 hour drive home from the airport) you definitely dont want to be sitting that long - my stomach ached! I wish I hadn't traveled so soon since I was so far away.
  11. Well that is great that everyone seems to have kept atleast most of it off. I was scared it would all come back as soon as I ate food Thanks
  12. hi, I seem to be losing weight quickly on the post -op liquid diet. i am curious - is this just water weight that I will immediately gain back as soon as I start eating food? Did any of you keep off all or most of your weight you lost on liquids once you started real food? I am 11 days post -op and I've lost 7 pounds in 11 days and I am not doing THAT much walking - so has to be that im barely getting 500 cals a day.
  13. I have scheduled my fill with Dr. Westmoreland in Murfreesboro for Feb. The OCC reccommended him - his receptionist was great on the phone. Thats great about the support group! I am in Chattanooga, so its about 1.5 hours from me.
  14. I am having a Carnation instant breakfast drink in the morning with a scoop of unflavored protein mixed in it as well for breakfast usually around lunch I have a drinkable yogurt in strawberry and for dinner i have cream of potato soup with no potatoes. The only other soup I like is the Tomato Parmesean Bisque soup at hand soup - its pretty good so sometimes i have that. But I am getting tired of these. I really want to eat. lol I have been VERY 'regular' since day 4 going on the yogurt drinks - its surprising but better than the alternative i guess. but yeah I am curious about how much soup to drink - ive been drinking about a full small bowl of it, just slowly. Im losing about a pound a day so I guess Im ok . I dont think the liquids can stretch out the pouch, as they go straight through
  15. Cool - yeah I was wondering about it since its texture and consistancy is not at all like a soft roll. I guess I will try it and see. Thanks!
  16. Hey I know I am worrying too much about post -op food but I was curious - Can anyone eat corn bread? I dont eat it often, usually only when i visit my family, so I was just curious.
  17. I started on day 7. I had Ocharleys Potato soup without the potatoes and bacon (they will give it to you that way so you dont have to sift through it! ) it was sooo good.
  18. my shoulder started hurting today and it hasnt really hurt at all since being banded (i am 10 days post op). I thought that was weird that it just started now. So I did the shoulder rolls and started walking.
  19. Hi My bf is a former body builder and I have been working out for years (food is my problem, not exercise) and please please believe me when I say it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to get bulky lifting heavier weights. I have seen what it takes to gain size - you have to life EXTREMELY heavy weights PLUS eat TONS... im talking 5000-7000 calories a day which is mostly protein! And even at that, being a women, it would be difficult for you to get bulky. You would need tons of supplements for muscle growth I would suggest you going on higher weighs and still higher reps - you can do it. with my trainer, we do 15-30 reps on every exercise and the weights are never light - we usually increase on every set. Be sure you are doing atleast 3 sets on every exercise as well. Usually you will know when you have done your max ability when 10 pounds feels like 100 when you pick up the weight - then you know you have worked out your muscles good. Good luck! I would suggest you get the OXYGEN magazines. They aren't as intense as muscle and fitness for HER but they are great and you will see that even these little bitty women who are toned but not bulky, are lifting heavy. I love that magazine. The author of the EAT CLEAN diet is one of the writers.
  20. Wow I guess I will just have to wait and see! Im anxious to figure out what i will be able to eat! lol
  21. Wow you look great! You were my main motivation to even get this surgery cause our body types are the same and our starting weights are close. I am very impressed - you have done a wonderful job! By the way - I have a trainer too who is on hold while I heal - but are you restricted on anything you can do with your trainer? again, great job! you look fantastic
  22. I know I know I know I know we dont need to eat cake However - sometimes cake is supposed to be eaten! lol my sister is getting married in June. I want to eat her wedding cake. Anyone have any problems with it?
  23. Wow this thread was informative. I am already so picky on what i will eat (no pasta/sauces/meats/seafood) that i told Dr. Ortiz I was scared the few things I do eat would be the things I cannot tolerate after banding and he told me VERY confidently that I should be able to eat EVERYTHING i ate before banding , just less of it and if I couldnt eat certain things, I was too tight. He told me the band is not about being on a diet for the rest of your life, that diets were unnatural and I would never see a dog or a tree on a diet - the band was about controlling the amount of food we eat. I am still on liquids but cheeses, breads, and potatoes are a staple in my diet of what i actually will eat - so this worries me some. I have a co-worker whose husband was banded 15 months ago and he can eat everything except stringy meats (roasts) and really soft breads like crossiants. Everything else he is fine with. I am hoping I am that lucky. I want to lead a normal life and be able to eat just about anything - I just need help with the portion control which is what the band is suppose to do! Jan 29 I guess I will find out - when I am able to eat!!! i am looking forward to it!
  24. Hey everyone, I am 8 days post op. My little incisions look like little cat scratches now. My largest incision is different. half of it looks like the other ones, and the other half looks like its opened up a little and is a little pink and swollen just a bit. Is this normal? Ive been putting neosporen (sp?) on it and covering it during the day with a gauze piece so that my clothes dont rub on it. How long before everyone's incisions healed up totally?
  25. most of the gas talk you hear people talking about it right after the surgery for a few weeks - you are pumped full of gas during the surgery to inflate your stomach so they can get in there to do the surgery and afterwards, they cant get it all out, so you have gas pain until you work it out of your system. it has subsided with me (i am 8 days post op) alot now.... and if I feel it, i just start walking.
