  1. Hello-- How are everyone, I have been gone so long now Dr. Otiz is doing the gastric sewing up the stomach issue. WOW How is everyone doing on their goals. My life has gone from bad to good, then bad again, I personally would like a do over. Pammie--Revy Saw our favorite PS, and he will be doing a scar revistion and not charging me for it.   3. I would have to agree with the others, get it checked out. Sounds like your port came unattached from your abdomen wall. Maybe your private MD could do a xray for you? if I was going to be a bettin lady I would bet your port is just floating around in there. There should be NO pain after 2.5 years. Call your MD and Call Dr. Ortiz...what do you have to lose? Oh ya--possible your weight loss, you could puncture an organ...Good luck Kim
  4. You are not brining up a subject that has been over and over and over again. I am always ready to share my personal secret.... We all must poop...and yes most of us with the band have some sort of poop issues. I was banded a few years ago, and I have had my fair share of poop problems lets just call thos PP. I put benefiber in my morning coffee every morning. I have tried the off brand, and I feel that they don't work as well as the good ol "BENEFIBER" ... So clear up the swollen belly, cramps, and seeing stars when you try to poo and get some benefiber, and YOU WILL POOP!!! Try Benefiber and Poop your way to Happiness!! Kim TC
  5. The reason the port hurts more than the other holes they put into you is because they are making a larger incision through your muscles. Plus they have sutured this hunk of plastic to your muscle wall...Until your healed it will be tender, I am 1.5 years out and I can lay anyway I want. I can feel my port if I push on it..It does not poke out1!!! Hope this helps Kim
  6. Plus--You can always call Miranda and she always has idea's and tricks up her sleeve. Sometimes I think she will have you add a shake, or eat a snack mid day...Basically the pre op diet is for us to loose some fat around our livers before we get cut on...   7. You can sip on ginger ale...flat of course...no bubbles...Or eat a ginger candy..that will calm the tummy..also peppermint tea will work...a benedryl may also work....and take something like pepcid to calm the acid in your tummy! Kim

  10. So it would be 40mcg...Its sold in mcg, not mg....More than that your body does not need... Chromium supplements are used to prevent or treat chromium deficiency. The body needs chromium for normal growth and health. For patients who are unable to get enough chromium in their regular diet or who have a need for more chromium, chromium supplements may be necessary. They are generally taken by mouth but some patients may have to receive them by injection. Chromium helps your body use sugar properly. It is also needed for the breakdown of proteins and fats. Lack of chromium may lead to nerve problems and may decrease the body's ability to use sugar properly. There is not enough evidence to show that taking chromium supplements improves the way your body uses sugar (glucose tolerance). Injectable chromium is given by or under the supervision of a health care professional. Other forms are available without a prescription. For good health, it is important that you eat a balanced and varied diet. Follow carefully any diet program your health care professional may recommend. For your specific dietary vitamin and/or mineral needs, ask your health care professional for a list of appropriate foods. If you think that you are not getting enough vitamins and/or minerals in your diet, you may choose to take a dietary supplement. Chromium is found in various foods, including brewer's yeast, calf liver, American cheese, and wheat germ. The daily amount of chromium needed is defined in several different ways. For U.S.— Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) are the amount of vitamins and minerals needed to provide for adequate nutrition in most healthy persons. RDAs for a given nutrient may vary depending on a person's age, sex, and physical condition (e.g., pregnancy). Daily Values (DVs) are used on food and dietary supplement labels to indicate the percent of the recommended daily amount of each nutrient that a serving provides. DV replaces the previous designation of United States Recommended Daily Allowances (USRDAs). For Canada— Recommended Nutrient Intakes (RNIs) are used to determine the amounts of vitamins, minerals, and protein needed to provide adequate nutrition and lessen the risk of chronic disease. Because a lack of chromium is rare, there is no RDA or RNI for it. Normal daily recommended intakes for chromium are generally defined as follows: Infants and children— Birth to 3 years of age—10 to 80 micrograms (mcg) a day. 4 to 6 years of age—30 to 120 mcg a day. 7 to 10 years of age—50 to 200 mcg a day. Adolescents and adults—50 to 200 mcg a day.

  13. Sometimes with the low calorie diets our bodies think its starving and won't let loose any of that fat. If you mix it up a little, say twice a week, eat 1200 calories, or 1300 calories then go back to 1000 calories and see if that kicks your metabolism back into gear. PS...I would get a fill if you can eat two pieces of pizza. OMG I can eat about a 1/4 of a slice very slowly...and that is pushin it! Ya get a fill! Kim
  14. i used to work 12 hour shifts and there was no way I could eat three meals. What I try to do is eat something in the AM, usually a protein shake. Work days...Then about 230 3pm I am starving, so I eat lunch. Then maybe a salad at 7pm, then it seems like my band opens up and I can eat ANYthing i WANT!!!! i TRY TO keep this on track so that I don't over eat at night...Usually a few pretzels does the trick...So my diet wanders and wains from work days to off days. Off days I am much better because I am not running all day! I have more time to plan. Kim

  16. Stormy-- Can I ask that are you feeling fat because perhaps you are depressed...Your current situation would make me depressed. You place the blame on not getting a fill, but what are you doing to make yourself feel better? May I put my nurse hat on and suggest: Increase your endorphines....Walk, move your body to get those feel good feelings going...This will perhaps increase your metabolism, make you feel fuller and make your mental head feel better about your situation... Not getting a fill is not a life and death matter. Be thankful you are alble to have the band, have the knowledge to help yourself get though this tough time. Do I think it sucks that you can't get a fill, sure I do...But hold tight, do what right, and in time things will turn around! Maybe we can all send you 5 bucks...lol Kim
  17. Ummm OMG, the port is not suppose to be under your abdominal muscles...It is suppose to be on top of them under the skin. Liver damage is serious...omg kill the dr...(what sucks is that no one/dr will probably want to touch your port that another dr did/messed up...Their funny that way!   18. I think what people have a misconception when they get banded they will automatically lose weight. Not the case people...Don't set your MIND up for failure. You will loose weight when you follow the plan..Weather that is post banding or after your first or second fill..Stay off the scale...It messes with your head.!!!! Once a week if that. Don't expect miracles just because your banded....there is still alot of work to do, and you have just bgun your life journey! Go easy on yourself! As for the gas...walk walk walk it out! Fart away!!   19. You will find once you have restriction you can't eat bread...It turns to this thick nasty mush and you wll be done eating. So for purposes of common sense one needs to fuel the body before getting gratification from bread. Bread is the last item that I think of when I am hungry because I just can't get it down without hurting or PBing Kim
  20. If the incision is healed, I would venture into clean water....No lakes, rivers....Make sure that you use suncreen on those scars or they will turn darker than your skin. KIm
  21. Really it was not that painful. They didn't cut through muscle...They just removed the nasty skin. Tightened the abd muscles...So really not as bad as it looks. I would do it again in a heartbeat,.!!!! Wait till the scars fade, then it will be lots better! Kim
  22. Who has crossed at the San Diego border? I want to go to the OCC and get things checked out. Hubby thinks crossing the border is to risky. How has the border been...? Anyone had any problems? Kim
  23. hello-- I would not like having that stuck feeling, esp after sleeping. I notice that after I eat to much or get the PBing issue if I walk around I can feel the food moving through and giving me that relief I am so looking for. I would not lie down...I think that would slow the process of digestion. I would walk around until you felt better. Also you could have scratched or inflammed your esphagus. I think a day of liquids would do your body good. Then start slowly and see how you feel. Good luck.. Kim
