  1. I did WW forever and it is awesome. With this band though, I didnt want to feel like I was on a diet and with WW for me, I felt like I was. I keep track of my calories through out the day which is easy since the restriction is there. What also has helped was figuring out how much I burn on an average day. I'm between 1800 and 2100 depending on my activity. I know then that if I keep it 500-1000 calories under that, I'll lose about 1-2 pounds a week.

  2. I hit up lap band talk for the blogs. Seems they have more to read over there. I like to read Band_Groupie she has a good blog on that site.

Recently I became aware of a vlog weight loss community on you tube. I really love watching some of those videos. Seems very honest and personal because you can see the people there. I would recommend ProofWLSworks. It is a group of weight loss patients who have a topic they speak about each week. So one person speaks each day of the week with that topic. It is really cool to hear each persons perspective. My user name is faith8412. I like more people over there and would be happy to share their screen names to anyone who may be intersted. Amazing how much you can learn and relate to so very much!

Great videos Angie! Its great to place not just your face and posts but a voice as well!! You look great and your little boy is so cute. Thanks so much for sharing your gift of encouragement with us. You are an inspiration!

  3. I was banded in February, and I've lost maybe 30lbs since surgery. I've had 4 or 5 fills (lost track now) and I feel restriction. I generally follow all the bandster rules for eating, and i track my food intake. I get in about 1200-1400 calories daily and do cardio 3-4 times a week. I've talked to my fill doc and Dr. Miranda and all they tell me is that i'm a slow loser and to keep plugging away. I am so tired of this super slow loss. Yes, I'm thrilled to be healthier than I was a year ago. I know I couldn't have gotten here without the band, but I sometimes wonder if the magic will ever happen for me.

I can feel your frustration. I have seen a slow loss too in my own weight loss.... Hang in there... I believe the magic is already happening.

  4. Great topic Angie. I was wondering the same as lately people have had tight bands. I too like you, can eat muffins and cake and can do breakfast. If I stay within my calories for the day, I do feel restricted, much more than before I had the band and bottom line.... I'm still losing wt and doing it much easier than I had before. Like the Dr said at OCC.. once you get above 3.0 in the band... he has seen more people have to come back for unfills and have problems. I'm hoping I can stay at 3.0 as I am losing wt at a nice rate and with ease. Thats not to say someone above 3.0 will have difficulty..... We are supposed to be able to eat what we want only in smaller portions. I figure if I'm losing and not struggling... why get filled.

As to fluids. I have had the experience of feeling liquids in my throat or sitting on top of the stoma before. Its only happened once or twice and not enjoyable. :o

  5. Down 3.5 pounds this week.

Have gone from a 5x to a 2 x. Could not believe it when I went and tried on clothes.

Also when I was walking last week my pants fell right off. Sooooooooooo glad no one was around :)

congrats on the loss... Your pants falling off is a NSV!

I lost a pound. I'm down to 183.4 this week.... slow and steady

  6. Thanks so much! It just makes me feel better to get that unfill while i'm stressed. Would rather stay the same weight or gain a few than lose my band!

On the 79 cent menu at taco bell they have a cheese roll up. All it is is a tortillia with cheese in it melted. I can to tortillias so I dip those in hot sauce and eat them. Only about 99 calories per one if I remember right. I'll get one of those and some pintos and cheese and it's a great meal. Since i've been having to eat out a lot b/c of being at the hospital i'm trying to be good.

Okay.. I did have one today. I looked up the calories on Calorie King and it said 200 calories. Can that be right? they are so small. and the pintos and cheese said 160. Let me know if you have another source.

Congrats on getting the cheese roll up down. I was worried for min I wouldnt be able to. yum
