  1. Unless you're into drinking and college age, the night life in TJ is not good. You may want to head out of Mexico when you are able and stay in San Diego downtown by the lamp district. You can easily take a trolley from the border. There are many people on this board who live in San Diego and probably have some great ideas for a great place to stay for a night or two before you head back home.

  2. Okay...I need my box of tissues when this show is on. Shay....had me in tears... * I think that is her name* She is on the orange team with Danny.

I'm so inspired by this show... I was only able to watch the last hour though... the Angel game was on and the tivo would only tape 2 shows at a time. So mine had to be cut down to the last hour since I was not there to defend myself on why my show was the most important :D .... Its all good .

  3. Happy Bandiversary Shelby. You are an inspiration....

I too fought off dreaming of a great Starbucks latte today... and then my girlfriend showed up at my house with one in her hand saying she had to. So I drank 1/2... ugh.

  4. I call and schedule an appt time as to what is available. Since I live 2 hrs from the border, I dont stay over night. I park and walk across the border. From the airport I'm sure the OCC has some arrangement for transportation. I remember them telling me it would be 199 for the fill and transport across. As to the hotel, You can book that online if you like.. I would, or call direct and call the OCC there may be package deal as well.

Good luck... here are the hotels.

    Lucerna

    Marriot

  5. What is a body bug, what does it do and where can you buy one?

    Debbie

    Hi Debbie

The bodybugg system is seen on The Biggest Loser. Its the black band around their arm. I measures the caloric burn through out the day. Studies show its pretty accurate, on average over 90%. I like seeing numbers and progress so I love the system.

Here is the website and there is a video on how it works... I dont make money off this.. just an interesting helpful product I like.

    Bodybugg

  6. B: soy latte

    Blueberry almond oatmeal

    L: 1 Veggie Patty

    1 bag baked ruffles

D: 1/2c chicken breast shredded seasoned with taco seasoning for the familys burritos

    1T lt sour cream

    1 string cheese

S: Warm delights chocolate molten cake - 150 cals... yum

    Calories today: 940

I'm wearing my bodybugg today... what an eye opener as to my activity level. So far I've burned 1850 calories..... You figure I can burn around 1500 just sitting around breathing and eating... I need to get more active besides doing laundry

  7. I figured that's what you meant! And I make my soup different every time depending on veggies I have on hand.... I don't know if it's the exact same as the Weight Watchers Veggie soup recipe that used to come in the points book, but that's where it came from originally and since I lost the recipe, I just do this....

-sautee 1 cup chopped onions, carrots, and celery in Pam cooking spray

-add one can tomato paste and six cups of water mixed with low fat chicken, beef or tomato stock , then bring to boil

-add any veggies you have (I like green beans, corn, and cubed sweet potato or turnip) then lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes

My sister is a wonderful cook and adds all kinds of herbs to hers but I just do salt, pepper, and oregano and it's simple but very good!

    Sabrina:)

Thanks Sabrina... I remember that WW recipe but it always looked blah to me... when you mentioned the same veggies I like... it looked like the best tasting soup ever...I need to make it now.

  8. I don't get "full" like Thanksgiving full where I feel like I could pass out if I took another bite, but I feel like there is no more room and I'm not hungry at all- hardly ever hungry....and I used to have a bottomless pit! Eating very little when you are not hungry is much easier than eating very little when you are. That said, I'll still eat the odd thing (like last nights cookies) just because it is there and looks/smells good but never because I'm actually hungry. That's why it's best for me to keep junk out of the house or treated as a "special treat" like baking with the kids was yesterday.

    Sabrina:)

I hear ya... had to ditch the candy corn in the trash. I'm better off not buying the junk too but its funny how I rationalize why I need it at the store.

  9. The show is pre-taped and she has actually lost 70 pounds since being on the show- plus, she GAINED a boyfriend. She's now dating the young guy on the black t-shirt team!

    Sabrina:)

Sabrina... I hope you didnt think I thought she lost the 70 pounds in 1 week......

Its all good though... ps. do you have the recipe for the low fat tomato soup? sounds yummy

  13. I am getting frustrated and I don't know if it is because I have the Realize band or a doctor who is too nervous to give me a "Real fill". Here's what's happening:

I was banded on July 3rd with Dr. Ortiz 9cc REalize band.

Had my first fill August 16 with a local doctor. He does use fluoro and has a great rep, so I figured he would be able to give me good restriction. 5cc's later, nothing. No restriction, no problem with any type a food. I wasn't too worried, so I made an appointment for my second fill.

Second fill is another 2cc's. Again, nothing. I can still eat pretty close to the my pre surgery portion sizes. This tells me my doctor is either very conservative on my fills or my band has a leak :)

Doesn't 5cc's seem like a small amount? It has been two months since my surgery and I have only lost 12 pounds (which was all in my liquid diet stage). I don't know whether to cry or go postal on my doctor until he really fills me up.

Help. Anyone else have a Realize band?

P.S. My husband is starting to doubt this whole "investment" too. I didn't have insurance.

My husband started to doubt this investment too. If you look at my stats.. you would see why. It wasnt until this last fill that I got restriction. I think the hardest for me at the beginning was not drinking with my meals. Once i got over that by getting something stuck and thinking fluids would help it go down... I never drank with my meals again.

I remember the OCC saying " dont worry about the numbers, what works for one does not work for the other"

Just keep moving forward... its great when you get restriction and realize that you are actually going to do this and lose wt.

  14. B: soy latte 100 cals

    S: 1/2 c cottage cheese w/3 almonds chopped and 1/3 c blueberries 160 clas

    L: Chick-fil-a strips... 1 1/2 with 3tbs hummus 255cals

S: Iced chai tea latte 100 cals

15 good n plenty... 65 cals * I would have eaten the whole box before!

    total cals so far... 680

    D: TBD

  15. Thank you guys for your responses. I do notice I am eating less but I think I thought it would be far less and I would feel more restriction...and might struggle with bread etc. That has not been the case... I think I will go by weight loss and calories and if I am not losing then to go back for a little more.

FYI- I was in the waiting room against the far wall (purple shirt/long dark hair) I came in with a group of people from San Diego.

    Thanks again!

Ok.. you came in before me right? you were sitting across from me by the door to the operating room.... I remember.

Regarding fills and restriction.. everyone here was feeling the same way. I did not have any restriction my first fill..my second maybe more but frustrated and definately feel it now. You will get there. Let me know when your next fill is if you are going back down.. who knows.. I may need to go too and we can share a 5 dollar cab. I never did like the idea of paying 99 bucks for transportation across when it is 8 to park and 5 for the ride.

    You're gonna do great!!

    Laura

  16. Hello everyone,

I'm terrible about posting on here, but I couldn't think of a better group of people to share my victory with than you great bandsters! I weighed in this morning at 199 lbs!! Finally I'm in Onederland! I moved to CA a couple weeks ago and have joined a walking and hiking group so I've been really getting out there and working my booty and its paid off! 5 lbs lost in the last week alone! I am super excited needless to say - especially since I've been plateaued for the past couple of months. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Gin @->---

Thats awesome! I love reading the accomplishments on this board!! You are a motivator!

    Thanks for sharing

  17. Maybe "Weigh-in Wednesdays"?

& we can also add "Motivational Mondays" (inspiring stories, quotes & words of wisdom) , "Turn-It-Up Tuesdays (focus on what exercise & moving can be accomplished that day) , Thirsty Thursdays (drink that water!!), "Fresh Fridays" (healthy foods/veggies & fruits day), "Stick-To-It Saturday" (weekends are tough! What are you doing to stay away from cheating & staying active) "Say-it-all Sunday" (a day of confessions from the week past!)

    I'm lame & corny...I know! hee-hee

    Those are great ideas.
