As far as exercise. I started by walking 30 mins a day. Then I started biking, hiking etc. Generally I walk 7-10 km a day during the week and do either 3-4 hour hikes on the WE or bike 65 km or walk up to 27 km. I also strenght train with bands 3...

  9. Thanks for the comment. You are going to be so thrilled to have this new tool in your life. Follow the rules, exercise 30 minutes a day minimum and watch that weight fall off girl. Good luck

  10. I agree with Angie. I traveled down alone and had no problem whatsoever. I stayed at the Marriott and they have a little store on site where you could buy water and juice. I found all I had to do was ask and they brought me bottled water free anyways. I did take along packages of chicken broth and Crystal light. Taking a cab is the way to go if you are alone. The people were very friendly and more than willing to help me out. Good luck with your surgery. Debbie

Hi Teri. This surgery was the best thing I ever did for myself. Just remember it is a tool to assist you but you still have to do the work with exercise and good choices. I literally have watched the weight melt off and it has changed my life. It will yours too.

    Good luck

  15. Congratulations Kristi. You have done so well in the past year and I am so thankful that you post here. You always have a kind word and a word of wisdom for us. I am sorry to hear about your accident and pray that both you and husband will recover quickly. Debbie
  16. Stayed the same this week. Did a 65 km bike ride so am pretty sure I just exchanged fat for muscle. I did a 27 km walk yesterday with my daughter so it will be interesting to see what the scales say next week. Have a good week everyone Debbie
  17. Thanks Totsie. I have to tell you I have been faithful with my food diary and not missed a day since I was banded. Like you i am incredibly busy but I knew if this was going to be life changing for me that i needed to wrap my head around what was going in my mouth and learn what correct portion sizes were. I am a single parent, manage a 39 bed acute care medical unit and am going to school getting a management degree with a health speacilty option, but I make sure that I take a few minutes every evening to write everything down I ate, and how many calories and protein it was. Also exercise I have done. I also in the same diary keep tract of my weekly weight and at the end of each month I take pictures , do measurements, and write down my BMI and body fat percentage. The combination of these things has been a great encouragement for me. For example maybe I have not lost as much weight as I would like in a month but my measurements say I have lost inches, that keeps me motivated. Also if I am feeling like eating something I should not, I will look back through my diary for the past year and see the pictures, lost weight, and lost inches and by the time I have done that I am so motivated again that I don't want to eat anything but what is good for my body. I have never journaled food before because I was always "too busy", but I am positive that it is one of the reasons I have been so successful with my new life style. I have gone from 317 to 185 since last year so all I can say is give it a try girl, it might help to keep you motivated just like it does me Debbie
