    Thanks, Kristi--it's good to know you had it for that long! I've been getting worried after having it for only 6 days! I'll try priolosec--is that over-the-counter?

    I think you're probably right, although I really understand her anxiousness to get it done. I just had mine done last week and the 6 weeks of waiting was agony. Once you make up your mind, you just want to get to it. However, even if she did have the surgery now, she may not be down enough pounds to really make much of a difference, especially considering the downside of not being able to eat all the delicious Italian meals, etc. So although I'm firmly on the fence, I'm leaning toward your side.

    Looks like you are losing consistently--good for you! I'm looking forward to my first fill. Actually, I'm looking forward to the end of the 3 weeks of liquids! I'm hungry!

    I'm on Day 5 (banded Jan 7) and doing well, but still having gas pains in my chest. How long does it take for these to go away? I'm taking Gas-X, and it helps a little, but not much.

    Hi Janice--I'm feeling better today than I have since surgery on 1-7. But I really haven't felt bad at all, it's been a nice surprise! Thanks for asking. If I remember right, didn't you just get a fill? How's that working for you?

    Margie, thanks so much for the recomendation for Dr. Fitzpatrick. The probably will be the best bet for Janelle and I. I haven't heard a bad word about her.

    It has been great fun to hook up with Amy and PJ (her companion) and Christine. We've been through the whole experience together and I feel like I've made new friends. The rooms at the clinic are nice--couch, chair, adjustable bed, and TV with directv. Also, and this is huge for me, there's a phone in the room with a US line!!!!! So you can call home easily. The staff is all wonderful and professional. I have to echo all the positive reviews I've read on this clinic and Dr. Ortiz.

    I've been thinking a lot about this. I'd like to do Salem for convenience and I have read one review about the doctor in Salem (I can't remember her name) that said she was really good. Having said that, I've read tons of reviews about Dr. Fitzpatrick (Eugene and Portland) and she comes very highly recommended by Dr Ortiz's staff, even over the Salem fill doctor. They have nothing bad to say about the Salem one, but they raves about Fitzpatrick. So Janelle, it'll be up to you--I'll have my first one with Dr Ortiz, as you know, and then I'll get my second before you will, so I'll let you know how they are. I jsut wish I could decide!!!

    I get to come down here on February 21 to be Janelle's companion for her surgery, and will also get my first fill here!! yay!

    48 Hours had a pretty scary show on last night about a family abducted in Tijuana. My husband watched it and said, why is it again you picked tijuana??? I'm planning on staying close or in the hotel and the clinic. From everything I've read our path from San Diego to the clinic to the hotel is safe. At least I hope so.....

    I'm trying to lose 12 lbs. I didn't start the diet until last Monday and had lost 6 of it, but then cheated terribly yesterday--I planned on it, though. Back on the wagon today and gained 1 lb from yesterday's binge. So I have 7 lbs to go in 6 days--I don't think it will be a problem. What are you eating on your pre-op diet and how much do you need to lose?

    We're staying at the Marriott. I don't know exactly how much i'd like to lose...I'd be seriously thrilled with 80 pounds.

    Hi--I don't know how to respond to comments on my profile, so here I am! We get in at about 12:30 on the 6th. I'm so excited but also worried about losing enough weight prior to preop.
