  1. I think they're referring to the card they give you when you leave OCC after your surgery. It has your name and some details (including your starting weight, which I wasn't thrilled with--lol), along with details for the band, etc. I never thought about using it to get a kid's meal, but it's a great idea.
  2. I have sprint and have the international plan, but it's a huge charge per minute. I'm sure you can call from the Marriott or Lucerne, but you'll want to check the charge per minute from them. I haven't used pingo.com.
  3. Hi--is your daughter Laurie? If so, yes, she was there when I was banded and she was a kick! I'm glad you decided to do it--my daughter and I are the reverse of you two--I decided and had it done and now my daughter is doing it--we'll go back on Feb22--she'll have her surgery and I'll have my first fill!

  4. Wonderful!!!!! It will be great to see you!

  5. That is just AWESOME!!!!! I'm so jealous (in a good way!) and can't wait until I get to my goal weight! Congratulations on all your hard work paying off!

    Tomato Pie

I wondered what you would think about the "firm" onions--I like fairly raw onions, so for me, it was great! But I know many people (my husband included) who like their onions more cooked. I had trouble cutting the pieces so small.....but then again, maybe I didn't try hard enough
  7. Good questions, Amy, and thanks, Bandita, I now know for SURE I have no restriction. I started eating solids last Thursday and can't tell any difference from before I was banded. I was really hoping to have at least a little restriction, but oh well. Now I'm just trying to maintain until Feb 22, my first fill date! Amy, I think you're doing well if you can stop as soon as you're full. That's been my problem--once I start eating, I have just one more bite over and over again!

    Tomato Pie

I'm already having bigger pieces than I should. I cut it in six pieces and ate two! I know, terrible. And the scale reflected it this morning. I had one piece this morning and I'm back on track today, I hope. I couldn't wait to eat, but I'm having the same problems I've always had with eating!
  9. I'm so sorry to hear the options for doctors are limited in Australia. Are there not many doctors who will do the surgery, or is it an insurance issue? For me, it was an insurance issue and I had to go out of the country to be able to afford it. Luckily, I'm a short plane ride to Mexico. I sure hope there are some options that will make this possible for you.
  10. I only drank one pop a day, but it was important to me. Every morning, first thing, I had a diet Vanilla Pepsi. Just one, but I loved it and looked forward to it. The last one I had was the day I got on the plane for TJ and I haven't had one since. It hasn't bothered me much. I also replaced it as the others did, and I've replaced it with G2 gatorade (25 calories) and Special K protein water (thank you, Amy!) Both satisfy me. I thought I'd miss the caffeine, but I haven't. What doolittle posted is my understanding as well--anything carbonated can cause damage to the band.

    Tomato Pie

Okay just made it. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's my problem with this dish......PORTION CONTROL!!!
  12. I don't think it matters how you lose the weight as long as you lose it. Carolyn gave me the same there options and said if I was going to start the pre-op diet several (like 6) weeks in advance, I might want to try the Atkins diet, but if I was going to start it 2-3 weeks prior to the surgery, Option 1 or 2 might be better. I had 12 pounds to lose, started the pre-op diet about 2 weeks in advance of surgery, and did the protein shake/lean cuisine diet. Worked for me. The reason I chose not to go on Atkins is that I've been on Atkins many times before and I wasn't sure I could stay on it long enough to the lose the 12 pounds and when I go off low carb, the weight comes back very quickly. Don't know if this helps, but that was my reasoning.
  13. I'm chewing fine, haha, too fine actually. I had TWO pieces of pizza last night and gained a pound Very disappointed in myself. I'm back on track today--had two scrambled eggs this morning (140 calories) and some chicken tortilla soup for lunch (from red robin--don't know the calorie count, but just had a cup).

So how about you? How was your dinner last night and how ...

  14. That sounds good--I'll probably eat something tonight too, but not sure what. I want to eat something baaaadd like pizza :)

  15. Hi Amy--I'm not nervous a bit! I just wanna eat something!!!! I've been thinking about having my first meal tonight also--my daughter is trying to talk me out of it, and I'm telling her, hey you can't tell me 12 hours is going to really make a difference! What are you having for dinner?

  16. Pammie, how long between your fill and your unfill? Do they have you wait a few hours there to be sure it's the correct amount?
  17. AWESOME! I can't wait to get to the place where this will be an issue for me! Good luck and I'm sure you'll get the weight off--you're going to be super motivated, that's for sure!
  18. I got a cold within the first week after surgery. It HURT to cough and sneeze. I took Nyquil, which always helps me, I think it's a wonder drug! It calmed my coughing and sneezing, so I'm hoping I had no damage to the band. Whatever you can take to diminish those symptoms probably will decrease your chance of band damage, although I imagine the risk is fairly low. It probably wouldn't hurt to call the doc to make sure and to see if he has any suggestions.
  19. LOL I see you watch American Idol too! Yep, Pants on the Ground is going to be my theme song!!! :D

  20. AWESOME that you got into a pair of jeans you couldn't wear before. Guess what?? ME, TOO! I wore them today for the first time! We must be tracking (even though you've lost more than me and you KNOW I'm keeping track!) :D

  21. Hi--34 pounds--way to go! I a couple of weeks behind you and haven't quite lost 20 yet. Do you feel any restriction from just the band or are you just doing a good job controlling your eating?
  22. Welcome! You'll do fine--the worst part for me was the waiting until surgery day, I was so excited! I also stayed at the Marriott, and it was great.
  23. Good reminder--the way I feel right now, I'd inhale it if I wasn't careful! I'm also excited to see if I have any restriction--I know most people don't until their first fill, but maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones..
  24. You may be okay with chicken. Some people can handle it, especially if it's moist. But it is one of those things that can be a problem, like bread (which I'm really gonna miss)! I'm lucky I can eat fish, that'll make it easier to find stuff to eat when we're eating out. Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions--they really help. oh, and the tomato pie--I'd forgotten about that--I'll also be trying that real soon!
  25. Yumm--the Jimmy Dean Sausage Muffin sounds great!!!! I thought I read somewhere that a lot of people have trouble with salads, so I was going to stay away from them, but now I can't remember where I read that---apparently you don't have any problem with salad. That would make it so much easier.
