  1. My surgery was on a Monday, flew home on Friday, stayed an extra day in TJ and glad I did. Went to work on Saturday, realtor -- open houses on the weekend and showings, but will say I was busy for a week and found it took me 2 weeks to feel rested. To get my energy back. Shortness of breath, need to use the spirometer a lot. Be sure to take with you. I hit a stall for a week at 200 and just now kicked it under to 198!!!! . I can not believe it has been day 37 since my surgery, solid foods on day 40. Good Luck to you, oh ya I took a gift for the staff , Canadian stuff, Dr O says he likes Wine.... FYI

  2. Be excited, not nervous, I was so excited I wanted to be first! Bring single dollar bills to tip the guys at the hotel for your room service or whatevers, the worst part of the whole procedure was (and I am serious) was crushing one of the prescription meds and swallowing it, the taste was beyond bad!! thank goodness only 10 of those pills, I celebrated when I was done. No pain at all, but follow their diet instructions religiously, and be sure to sip sip sip the days after surgery. I spent a lot of time at the pool soaking up the sun on my recovery days. Remember your lung breathing thingy or you will have to buy another one... it is needed in the recovery process. I asked for a sleeping pill the night I stayed in the clinic, it made my night go by much faster and asked if I could sleep on my side and they said I could! You will sleep most of the day of surgery anyways and they have English tv. Good Luck I am 3 weeks today out and I am minus 25 lbs!!!

  3. Hello Leah, welcome to our little 'ALBERTA' group! I am almost counting the hours I am that excited. I have been selective about who I tell. My family and others I am telling I am going to San Diego for a trip. My family was super supportive, actually anyone I have told have been very positive. Only one had a funny look on her face when I said Mexico, but when I continued with the research I have done , she was all good with it. The Stigma that goes with Mexico needs to be broken, and I am such a sales person I will surely promote this once the proof is in the pudding!

So glad to hear you have a friend who already has done the experience, I will surely keep this blog going and thanks for the post.

  4. Wow Thank you for taking the time to give me such a detailed report of your trip, I have read and re read this, it is wonderful and very insightful, I am more at ease with each new post I read about the procedures done here. I do have a strange question, did you find sugar free popsicles here? I have searched, walmart, sobeys, co-op, no frills, no luck!!! and out of all of those only one sugar free already to go Jello. I am shocked! I have convinced myself that a popsicle is my treat, so far an unattainable treat. Thank you again for your kind words and story, how is the weight loss going?

  5. Thank you Alberta I most certainly would love to chat about your experience

I am sure you have some great advice. How did you feel the day of surgery? I am hearing a lot about no pain but overall how did you feel otherwise? groggy , tired, like a bus ran you over? are you hungry? thirsty? bored? The other thing my best bud is going with me and we were planning on hanging out that the Marriot til Thursday... Surgery is the Monday... is that sufficient? if you live in southern Alberta I would love to meet you.
