  1. Hi Stormy... I can really relate to what happened to you, as my now soon to be 13 yr old son has ADHD and suffers from anxiety as well. He was diagnosed when he was 7. It's been trying... I know. I'm actually surprised he's still alive, and I'm not in jail. Because believe you me... I was ready to kill him on several occasions. Especially when he was screaming so loud in his bedroom that the neighbours did think I was killing him! I'm a single mom and have been for 10 yrs. I used to go away for a girls weekend quite regularly, as we both needed the break from each other. And a week in Mexico with the girls was almost an annual event. I needed something to look forward to. My sister never agreed, but hey.. she didn't have to live with him. You know what... he'll do just fine when you're gone and you'll do just fine as well. Cherish every moment while you're gone, and after you're banded, take the time to learn alot from others. Come on the forum for the support you will need and the relaxation it will hopefully bring you. I love coming on the forum. Takes my mind off other things. Bring alot of information on the band with you when you go, relax by the pool, read it, so that when you get home, you'll know what to expect. The less stressed you are, the better both of you will be for it. And think of how happy you will be when you are banded and are feeling so much better. It's a win-win situation for both of you. In the meantime,,, hang-in there. > > > In the meantime, if you like beer, drink lots,, cause you're gonna miss it when you can't have it!! Anita
  2. :-h Hi everybody! Wow... it's been so long since I've be able to come and chat. Holidays, broken computer, yada, yada, yada. So, how the hell have all my old friends and new friends been??? I haven't had a chance to read any of the new posts, but I'm excited to see how all of you are doing. I'm down a total of 34lbs now. It's been 3 mo today since my surgery. I've had one fill on July 1st, and am going for a 2nd fill on Aug 22nd. I can definitely eat more than I am used to, so I have to be careful. I tend to be eating too fast, and experiencing the pain of the food going down very, very, slowly and feeling like I'm going to puke. UGH... but.. aside from all that I'm doing well. My clothes are getting very loose and baggy. I've had to buy a belt for the first time in many, many years. I will posting my new 3 mo progress pic asap. Well enough about me... time for me to check in on all of you! >
  3. Heard about this at work today, and hadn't heard about it before. I know that I've been slacking on eating my veggies, so this may just get me back on track.... Negative calorie foods are highly recommended for weight-loss programs and this concept is nevertheless becoming more popular these days. There are particular types of foods, which require more calories to burn than what they actually have. A particular diet, for example, could have 100 calories but it will require 200 calories to digest the food. Therefore, if you include these types of foods in your diet, deposited fat gets burn instead of adding up more extra calories. Negative calorie foods Nothing is more attractive to dieters than 0-calorie foods because these types of diet contradict the usual result of excessive food intake. Apples, spinach, lemon, papaya, broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, cabbage, asparagus and celery have this quality and hence often recommended by dietitian. There are more than a hundred of those foods in all. There is a need to know the advantages and disadvantages of negative calorie diets. Advantages These types of diets are excellent for quick fat loss calories are taken from reserves to burn the foods. Disadvantages Taking negative calorie diet for long may not be good for your health because exclusivity to zero calorie foods can lead to starvation. Fat and proteins are also essential to body functions. These foods do not contain fats and proteins, even in fewer amounts. Thus, muscles will deteriorate as well as overall body maintenance. This is due to lack of protein. Lack of minimal fats will lead to lack of energy. Everything has its pros and cons. Eating fatty and protein-rich foods at times can be good. Negative calorie foods should be taken wisely and strategically.
  4. Kdag... here's a good explanation of it. Found it on another post on the forum.. When you slime, saliva builds in your mouth and you feel like you're going to throw up any second, until the burp comes, and the pressure is relieved. The slime is the build-up of the saliva. Sometimes when you PB, you do throw up a small amount, sometimes you just feel like you're going to until the burps come. Eating too fast causes them. Eating large bites that arent WELL chewed causes them. Some foods cause them.
  5. Oh Donna.. sorry to hear that happened to you. I can imagine how uncomfortable you felt. Dr. Miranda said putting like barbeque sauce on the steak will help it go down easier. The ladies at NorthWest Fills told me to drink a bit of pineapple juice if I get something stuck. The enzymes will help break it down quicker. I have the papaya tablets, and I do find they work good for me. I've been lucky and have been able to eat steak no problem. I have it Medium... nice and juicy, and definitely in pea size bites. I chew the shit out of it, and if it still doesn't break down to almost liquid before I swallow it, I spit it out into a napkin. I have only had to do this once or twice. Normally it goes down fine. Have any of you tried eating prawns?? I love them, but not sure how they'd go down.
  6. Okay.. here's my confessions.. I do not exercise, other than the walking I do every day. Don't know why, just not into it these days. I can get back in the Dragonboat on August 15th, that will be 2x/wk, 1 hr 10 min. practice. Definitely a good workout. I will also hit my ball again, and work hard on my crunches. I do not keep calorie count, protein count, or anything else. (Which is why I probably didn't succeed on W.W.) I tried at the beginning, but just kept forgetting to do it. I do not eat enough veggies. No where near enough. I take a multi-vitamin, but not biotin. (Not really sure what that's for again) I eat alot of protein, some carbs, and fruit. Low calorie fudgsicles and ice cream sandwiches. I try to get my water in, and have been getting better lately. Hmmmm.... what else. Oh... when I've been out with the girls (especially the last dragonboat festival), I drank way, way, too much wine! Had a blast, but I know it wasn't good for the calorie count. I am fluctuating between 30 lbs and 32 lbs lost. Once I can get it to stay closer to the 32, I will update my ticker but not until. Camping and the beach coming up for a week Aug 1st. I'll really have to watch what I'm eating and be really careful. I've been really good with eating junk food. Next to nothing. I do love my cheese and crackers though. Oh.. by the way.. does anybody know of a "low carb" cracker?? Thanks!
  7. Is there anything left to say?? WOWZA!!!! And ditto on what every one else said. . love the hair!
  8. :-h Hi Everyone! I'm so busy right now that it seems I can only get on here every couple of days, but I miss you all! Very well said Kimmie.... I think we all are so successful because of this forum. It's such a good place to be. I can't wait until our band camp next year, when we can all meet personally, and share alot of laughs!! And Kimmie.. I love your legs too!!!
  9. Kimmie......... You look amazing!!!!! :lb24:
  10. What a great idea! You look great... hope one day I can wear a bikini too.
  11. The idea of the pouch is to keep us full longer, and it takes longer to digest, especially proteins. Are you sure that the pouch empty's after 1 hour? If it did, wouldn't we be hungry again? Just a thought?
  12. Hi Aaron :lb9: Congratulations on being banded. Phazyme and Gas X strips work great for gas. I was banded on May 15th, and without the support of all my fellow bandsters, I don't think I would have made it this far. We are all here to support you through your good times and rough times. Need support or advice... ask away. ANITA
  13. JANN... great story. Thanks for sharing. What a great idea not telling them about you being banded, just the way you have changed your lifestyle. You must have been on cloud nine when you walked in and they all stopped what they were doing. You know what they were looking at. (Where'd you go??) Keep up the excellent work!
  14. Too funny Dawnie... Busted! I never had the hiccups until after I had my first fill. Then I had them regularly for about a week, and that's it. Gone, gone, gone, ......
  15. I think I want to wear ALL the things that you all have mentioned! And Dianna... you CAN wear sexy lingerie now you know! You are still sexy, you will just be "sexier" when you lose weight. WillT... will you wear the nerf football for us when we all meet next year??? PLEASE.....
  16. :lb13: Way to go Michelle :lb16: You are one hot mama!!! Congratulations! :cheerleader:
  17. I heard that hair loss happens if you loose weight too fast. Like most people who have Gastric Bypass loose alot of hair. I'm starting to get a little worried here after reading this. :-?
  18. Okay guys... I'm really sorry, but I'm sitting here killing myself laughing. What's with all this PB'ing all of sudden. And as terrible as it sounds, I have to laugh about throwing up in the shower! And yes... when I post my first pb'ing and throwing up episode, you can all laugh at me!
  19. Dawnie.. you kill me! What the hell did you PB on??
  20. Hi Stormy... good luck with you surgery. You'll breeze through it! Kim.. as for fruit.. I'm okay with Cherries, Watermelon, Strawberries and peeled Apple. So far so good...
  21. You're doing great Shannon, and you must feel so good about having the cosmetic surgery done. Please share where you had it done, and how much it was. Can't wait to see your new pic's as well.. Thanks! Anita
  22. I felt very tight after my first fill. I believe that the area surrounded may swell up a bit, and cause you to feel even tighter. Drink warm liquids, soups, and remember you'll always feel tighter in the morning. I can still feel things go down and I had my fill July 1st. Since I've had my fill though, I certainly have to chew more and remember to take really small bites. Good Luck.. keep in touch and let us know how you're doing. Anita
  23. Hi.. Welcome aboard! Were you banded by Dr. O??? Congrat's on your weight loss. Great start!
  24. I know that Almonds don't go down well with me, but I as well hope that I will be able to eat other nuts. I haven't tried yet. Nuts are such a good source of protein and good fats.
