    The night after my surgery, the nurse brought me a Capri sun and set it on the table by my bed. I looked at her and jokingly ask her if that was a test. She said, "No". Why do you ask that? I told her that we were not supposed to drink through straws. I said, "thanks, but no thanks"

    I smoked until Thursday, before my surgery Monday. I had smoked maybe a pack since surgery. My wife still smokes, which makes it even harder to quit. The next trip to dr. I am going to get him to write a script for Chantix. ( or whatever it is called)

    One of the comments in Dr.Ortiz's book said that for some reason men seemed to recover from the surgery faster. This is day 7 and my incisions look only like a scratch. I was a smoker so that thought process has not hindered me. Hang in there, Kittycat better days are on the way. Jim

    I have had no hiccup issues. Some minor burping , but that is it.

    I was up and walking 30 minutes after surgery. No soreness and no pain. Only pain medication that I received was while I was in surgery or just right after the surgery. Matter of fact, right after the surgery I was wondering if I have been banded since I felt so good. The surgery took all of 25 minutes.

    Read Dr. Ortiz's book, "Lapband For Life" as it is one of the best that I have read on the subject of the lapband. I ordered my copy through Amazon.com. The OCC and staff are great!

    Good Luck, Jules and Thesuse. We will be waiting to hear from both of you. My only advise is to eat light the day and night before your surgery. This is one of the things that I learned reading Dr Ortiz's book and I had little to no gas pains after the surgery.

    Welcome and congrats on your decision for the lapband. I was banded on June 16 at the OCC and have had no problems at all. Since my surgery date, I have lost 13lbs. Plus the 32 lbs that I lost on pre-op diet and I have not felt this good in years.

    It is so amazing that the post-op diet instructions are so different from every doctor. Tomorrow is my day 6, post op and I can start having protein drinks. Two weeks of clear liquids--- YUCK!

    Thanks. This Nov if my bloodwork and cat scans come back clean, I will celebrate 5 years.

    I have been cancer-free for 4 and half years, now. I am hoping that this surgery will also continue to lower my risk as I loose weight. This is good information. Thanks, Michele.
