  1. This is a great question for your pharmacist. That is why they get paid the big bucks....ha ha If they are time released, you can't crush them, but liquid may be available or other forms, etc..... I have trouble with large pills or strange shaped pills. When in doubt, be sure to ask! GOOD LUCK!
  2. I understand exactly how you feel. My body REALLY wanted to stay at 200. To me, dipping below it was a big milestone. But, I did plateau at 200 for about a month. I agree with what the others have said - drink more water - get a fill if you need it and I have found that when I plateau it was because of the protein thing...when I would kick up the protein, I would get over the hump. I weighed 187 this morning and it feels great! Hang in there!
  3. This is what happens when people rely on the internet for ALL of their medical information. I see it EVERYDAY at work where someone "googled" some symptom and they think they KNOW what is going on with them. Hey, I love google like everyone else, but you have got to be smart about the information received. We do a good job here on lapbandforum. Yeah for us - now can someone help me off of my soapbox?
  4. I have a very active job and went back after a week. My Aunt has a job like yours and she said she could have gone back in a few days. Everyone is different and how everyone experiences discomfort/pain varies. I really thought of it more as discomfort than pain. In fact, being busy at work was good for me. It was distracting and gave me good purpose. As far as being pain free in a few days, again this varies from person to person. You'll do fine! Laproscopic proceedures are fairly simple and straight forward. I would suggest that you have your gas strips handy as well as some liquid tylenol/liquid motrin on hand (if you are able to take those) GOOD LUCK!!!
  5. Good Luck Lori! Tell them to BATTON DOWN THE HATCHES! (hope I spelled that right ) I understand how you feel about the diet coke. I drank WAY more than you each day. I almost had to go to rehab to quit. I had nausea, vomiting, etc....so good job on quitting. I feel better having quit than I have in years. You are already doing great. =D>
  6. At my last fill I went from 2cc to 1.6cc in the band. Dr. Acosta told me that air bubbles will get caught in the tubing and this can cause the difference in what we think is in there. Not sure if this qualifies as a "leak". I do know that we are all scared that we are loosing fluid. I agree with Will that the restriction at first is due to swelling. AND (as everyone has said) my band's restriction changes from day to day. Some days I can't eat until the afternoon. Fickle Fickle thing..... My band is like a spoiled best friend.... You love it, but some days it really aggrivates you!
  7. Angela, I swear the same thing will happen to me..... I will plateau, plateau and then BAM loose a bunch of weight. I sometimes think it is just our bodies trying to catch up. Sounds like you are doing a great job!!! Keep it up!
  8. When it doubt, check it out...... I always tell the new nurses that I orient that saying. If you are concerned, it is worth a call to your primary physician. A call can't hurt and if it is something major, you will be glad that you called.
  9. I have been banded since September and have done pretty well. I have my ups and downs like everyone else. I still have some more weight to loose before goal. BUT, my birthday is next week and I am turning 35 (eeeek!). I was just reflecting on what a different birthday this will be. I can't describe how FREEING it will be to have a birthday (or christmas or thanksgiving or whatever) where I am not just sick about the way that I look. I am sad as I think of the wasted moments obsessing about what or even being able to find something to wear - avoiding looking in the mirror or ducking out of family photos at the last minute. It is amazing what a difference just a little bit of weight loss will make. Yesterday, I went to the store to find warm weather clothing and actually fit into a size 14. I haven't done that since high school. (I was a size 20 when I started) So, for those of you struggling - stick with it - It has been SO worth it. Like has been said before many times on this forum, I wish I would have been banded years ago. CHEERS! Here's to a NEW start....for all of us! =D>
  10. spam spam spam....delete this person!!!!!

  11. not to contradict you Lindsay, but liquid tylenol doesn't have alcohol. But, you are right it has sugar in it... are you thinking of like cold medicine? Anway, JODI they also make a liquid motrin (look in the kid's section) for post op. It works great. Heachaches SUCK!
  12. You are going to do great! Don't stress. I thought it was much better than a .....PAP smear Like getting a shot but takes a little longer under fluro. I have had three fills and haven't had any problems. These folks do TONS of them and are very good. GOOD LUCK and let us know how it goes.
  13. EGD is a very simple proceedure. From my experience (being a nurse) they will start and IV and give you some medicine to sedate you, maybe some for pain and usually a medication that makes you not remember anything (that's the good stuff ) It is fairly quick and is used (like you said) to look down your espophagus to see what's going on. We see it lots with people who might have ulcers or other reflux/stomach probs. It is quick and painless (except the IV) and the drugs work well. Good Luck!
  14. I don't have any specific advise, but I just wanted to say GREAT JOB! I appreciate your outlook and your attitude. Very encouraging. Thanks!
  15. Have only told my husband as he went with me....it is very personal to me and I come from a family of skinny body obsessed sisters and a mother. One of my sisters is a personal trainer and professional boxer so you can imagine the flack I would get about taking the "easy way" out. (although we all know it isn't the easy way out) Some people tell and have great results.
  16. I recently went back with my Aunt who was banded and she reaped the benefit of the things I wish I'd brought, but didn't have. I would suggest some liquid motrin and liquid tylenol. Both will help so much. I would have LOVED to have liquid lortab, but they don't give that to you at the OCC. The toradol (someone mentioned earlier) is nice, but it will only get you through the first day. Also, I went back to work one week after and was sore. But, did fine. My aunt did really well and could have gone back the day after. So, I think it depends on the person. Good LUCK!
  17. I gurgle like a clogged sink! I KNOW everyone can hear it.
  18. Anne, The gal you are looking for is Joan Richardson who is a nurse practioner from Lewiston Idaho. Her clinic info is below. Clearwater Medical Clinic 1522 17th Street Lewiston, ID 83501 208-743-8416 She charges 100 for blind fills and does a great job. I have had all of mine with her. Great results. Let me know if I can help you in any other way!
  19. I got very constipated after surgery and PERSONALLY would rather have liquid stool than NO stool! But, that's just me. I would take the miralax - one dose- and see how you do.... happy pooping!
  20. I go to the same person as Jamie in Lewiston and LOVE HER. She is excellent and worth the drive if you have to do it.... A good fill is worth GOLD!
  21. I got mine at amazon.com and it came right away. It is a great book and I highly suggest any bandster or potential bandster reading it. You could also try barnesandnoble.com... good luck!
  22. I agree with everyone on here...don't do it and when I wanted to do it (we were ALL TEMPTED) I would ask myself... "I know that looks good, but does it look $8000 good?" That helped put things in perspective for me. Good Luck!
  23. I have NO boobs left but I guess it was a good exchange for getting rid of some of the big BUTT!
  24. Let me just say, these folks have this surgery down PAT! I was very stressed and it goes like clockwork there. It is a very simple proceedure and I kept telling myself that they do THOUSANDS of these! Good Luck and don't stress - you will do great.
  25. I just went back to OCC with my Aunt who had surgery. First time I had flown since surgery and I FIT in the airplane seat without "spilling" over onto my seatmates. other NSV -not wanting to cry when I look in a full length mirror -not catching my reflection and wondering "who is that fat lady" and realizing it is ME -crossing my legs with ease! -fitting behind the beds with ease at work (I work in ICU) -not being CONSUMED by thinking about food I still have a ways to go, but the BAND was the best thing I ever did. Wish I had done it 15 years ago.
