  1. You're in great hands with Dr. Ortiz, no worries!!!

  2. I am not ignoring you.....I can't seem to reply to your message but if you want to email me, my address is sabrinadelray@yahoo.com. Sabrina:)
  3. Last week, 170. This week, 166. My holiday gain is gone and I'm back to where I was six weeks ago. Band feels pretty loose but I'm leaving it alone and if it takes six months to get that last ten pounds off, so be it! Still can't decide if I have the guts to go for PS but I've got six months think about it while I continue to save. If so, I will go in August. Sabrina:)
  4. My mom has been making this with tomatoes AND zucchinis for years and it's really good!
  5. Can I add to this list? With less fat on my butt it now gets really sore when I sit for along shift at work!!! Sabrina:)
  6. Thanks!!! I read part of the comment you made on my profile but it got cut off. You offering me a tv show?! Ha ha. In my younger years I actually had my own local cable tv show but I gave up my dreams of being on tv because I thought I was too fat. Instead I pursued a radio and voice over career. It all worked out, I've had a good career, but it's kind of sad that I limited myself like that. Never again! Sabrina:)
  7. HOORAY!!! I have lost all the weight I gained in Hawaii! Back to 166!!! My goal since being banded was to weigh 160, but I changed it and I'm going to try for 156 so that I can say I lost an even 100 pounds, lol! Sabrina:)
  8. Last week..........174. This week, 170!!!
  9. Ditto to Debbie's comment. I now have most of the money saved but I'm freaking out about actually booking it and need to know ALL the details.............doctor, price, time under, etc. etc. When I had my consult with Dr.Campos he thought we should do two separate surgeries for the extended tt and breast lift. Are y ou doing both at once? Sabrina:)
  10. Slow and steady wins the race, you're doing great! Sabrina:)
  11. Welcome Rick! Most guys I know do I even better with the band than us ladies so I'm sure it's going to keep coming off. Enjoy the ride! Sabrina:)
  12. All this talk of losing 100 pounds and I have decided to try to do the same!!! I have re-set my ticker with a new goal. I was always aiming for 160 pounds, but 156 would be an even 100 pounds so why not?! I want in your club, haha. Sabrina:)
  13. A quick update on the 14-pound holiday gain....9 of it is now gone so only 5 to go before I'm back to where I was at Christmas! Phew! Sabrina:)
  14. I don't know if it's "normal" but it has happened to me. Fills under fluoro that seemed perfect but then tightened up a week later. I have had two complete unfills in the past five months. Just make sure you stick to liquids when it happens and I find Maalox helps too...seems to ease the swelling that is likely making the band so tight. Sorry to hear this is happening to you too. Sabrina:)
  15. I doubt that my band is moving because it has been checked under flouro twice and both times they said it looked perfect! It is in place and my pouch is not stretched at all. I think what keeps happening is that when I get "stuck" (I still don't chew well), the area gets irritated and the inflamation/swelling makes me close right up. This time around, I have found if I feel a little "irritated", two tablespoons of Maalox and 24 hours of liquids get me back to normal. Sabrina:)
  16. I have to disagree about fluoro providing that much benefit when it comes to getting the right amount of fill. I was filled by Dr. So under fluoro Dec 16th and everything went down fine.. One week later I couldn't even get my water down so what looks good one day, can change very quickly...sometimes withing hours. I wish I knew why that was. There are other benefits, though. It's nice to be able to see that the band is in place, and also there is less chance that the doc could purforate the tubing becaue he/she can actually see the needle going in. But as a way to be sure you get the right amount of fill, it is no better than a blind fill. Sabrina:)
  17. Hey Nicole! I almost missed your post cause I rarely check this section. Glad to hear from you. Sorry to hear you have gained more than you had hoped. I remember you were practically starving there near the end so it's no wonder your body grabbed on to those calories and wouldn't let go when it finally got fed!!! I've had to have two unfills since September and both times have gained weight VERY quickly. I know without my band, I would be in the same boat. I just hope I'll be able to keep my band. I always think of you when I start having trouble eating and sometimes even drinking. I went to OCC last month for my first fill with them and they checked and my band looked good. I guess I just can't take much fill any more for some reason. I have 2 cc's and that is more than enough...maybe even a bit too much. I used to have 3.6 ccs without any trouble but now anything over 2 cc's and water won't go down! Please stay in touch and I hope you can find a way to get banded again. It's SO hard without it. Sabrina:)
  18. And all of this without a fill, right? Whatever your secret is, you could sell it for millions!!! I am amazed and so happy for you! Sabrina:)

  20. In case you missed the bad news, three weeks in Maui with an unfill turned in to a 14 pound gain for me. The good news is, since last Wednesday, I have lost 6 pounds of it!!! Down six this week....so 174 pounds. I was 166 for a couple days before Christmas but I'm not stressing. I feel really good at this weight too...just don't like how I start feeling around 180. Sabrina:)
  21. I don't know if it was the partial unfill, or the Maalox I have been chugging, but I feel MUCH better today. Drinking is not a problem at all now and I even managed to eat some shrimp and veggies for lunch. Phew! Now I hope I don't have to go back for more fill any time soon- it's getting a little embarassing going in to see the doc every other day! Sabrina:)
  22. To add insult to injury, my husband just weighed himself and he LOST ten pounds on our vacation! I was cooking for all of us, we were all eating the same things (just less for me) plus he was drinking like a fish every day for three weeks. HE LOSES and I gain??? Jerk! JK. Sabrina:)
  23. Well, this whole fill and unfill stuff is getting very annoying. As mentioned in a previous post, I went for a "refill" Saturday. The doc took me from 0cc's to 2.1 cc's (or so I thought) but it was WAY too much. I thought I would do liquids for a few days but even those were proving difficult to get down. I went back today and asked for some fluid out. He pulls it all out before he puts any more in or out and it turns out I had 2.3 cc's...not 2.1. So, we decided to take out .3 cc's and see how that goes. I should be at 2 cc's now. It's only been a couple hours, and the liquids are going down okay but still very slow. He said he would work with me for free all week until we got the right amount. I just don't understand why six months ago I could handle 3.4 cc's in my band and now 2 cc's is causing problems. I had my band checked at OCC on December 16th and Dr. So said it was perfect from what he could see. Not being able to eat and barely being able to drink is giving me wicked headaches and, of course, I can't swallow pills when I am this swollen. I'm going to take some of my kids liquid tylenol. Has this happened to anybody else? I remember Nicole K having problems like this but she couldn't even eat when she was completely unfilled. Clearly, that is not a problem for me (as witnessed with my 14-pound weight gain with my recent complete unfill!) but I am getting seriously worried that for me there will be no happy medium- too much restriction or not enough. Thoughts? Sabrina:)
  24. I know it's morbid but I've spent the past hour reading the memorial page on Obesity Help.com. Do you know how dangerous the bypass surgery is? Please work with your band longer before making such a big decision. It is a pesky little thing (not loving mine much right now either) but it is ADJUSTABLE and also reversable- death isn't. I was thinking maybe I should switch to a sleeve since I have such a finicky band, but after reading those posts, there is no way I would risk it. Sabrina:)
