I was finally able to burp tonight, and it was the best feeling ever..lol.
-
I didn't lose all the weight either. I was supposed to lose 15 lbs, and only lost 7. Dr. Miranda wasn't very happy about that, but I told her I had been on my period. Her concern was that the 7 lbs was only water weight and no fat, which was probably the case.

Hey Christy, I am glad you are doing better today. That was so nice of Dr. Martinez to call you and talk to you. He really is nice, I think I remember him coming in before my surgery (or it might have been after) and talking with me, and he was just so nice. He also spoke to me first thing Friday am when he came in as I was waiting to leave, and asked how I was doing. Take care

Question about payment for the fill
ckiki replied to ckiki's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
So, I got an email back from Rene, that said Feb 20th was too soon, even though I checked and it's at the 6 week mark. Hmm... I guess I will try for the following week. -
I think I am going to wait a few more days to have the yogurts, I am not even hungry. Although, the chicken broth is beginning to gross me out..lol. I think I may go get some broth at the Japanese place that I love. You are so welcome. It really is an easy surgery. Yes, I did get to go home the next morning, infact if I would have had my surgery earlier, I would have been allowed to go back to the hotel. Good luck!!! You will be just fine!

Hey Christy, it was great meeting you as well. I feel like those 2 days are a blur, like they really didn't happen..lol. I am sorry your still feeling sore. Good luck to you as well. I am doing really good, the only thing I am having trouble with is trying to get comfortable while sleeping. I keep waking up with a sore neck from laying on one side all night. Last night, I felt really bloaty, however, the gas pains have been very minimal. I felt it a little in my shoulder yesterday, but I kept rubbing it out, so it never got unbearable. I never had to take the pain meds they gave me, so that was good. Today is day 4, and I am not even hungry..yay!!

Question about payment for the fill
ckiki replied to ckiki's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Yeah, I will just need transportation to and from the border parking lot, no hotel. I sent an email from the website requesting Feb 20th. Does anyone know what transportation + fill would cost? -
I was just banded on Thursday, but I was thinking of going ahead and scheduling my first fill for the end of Feb. If I make the appointment now, will I be required to pay for it now (I am going to need transportation, too) ?

We arrived at the OCC at around 10 yesterday morning, and had my lung test, ekg and talked with Dr. miranda, all donw pretty quickly. However, I ended up being the last surgery, so I had to wait until 2...the waiting was killing me..lol. When Dr. Ortiz came in to talk to me, and I has already my relaxation pills so I was alittle out of it. I just couldn't believe how handsome he was in person, actually all of that staff are so pretty and so nice..I just loved them all. Once they wheeled me into the OR, I had a mask put over my mouth and I was out...such a strange feeling. I had a hard time coming out of it, and was feeling nauseated when they made me go on my first walk. So they gave me some motion sickness meds in my IV, that knocked me out, and once I woke up I felt really good. Later on a got some broth, Capri Suns and some Otterpops..yummy! At around 8 pm, they gave me pain meds, and then around 9 pm, they gave me a pill for under my tongue that made me sleep all night long..it was so nice. I woke up at 5:30 and changed, got some more broth and water, watched a little tv, then my mom showed up and waited for a driver to take us back to the border parking lot. Overall my experience was wonderful, the place was so clean, and the staff so nice, I forgot I was in TJ, infact it looked alot like Los Angeles..lol. Even my mom was not nervous about going back to the hotel by herself. I never got the see the hotel, which was sort of a bummer, but I was anxious to get home. Dr. Ortiz told my mom after surgery that I had a lot of stomach fat (which I knew I did, because that is where I carry most of my weight) so he said the surgery was sort of difficult. I had to have the largest band (I guess the VG) because of that reason and because I am so tall. So now I am home, and just had some broth, and I feel pretty good. Just walking slow, and my stomach is real puffy and just real sensitive, especially near the port site. It's kind of hard to bend or get up and down. I am so excited about this, and I am not even hungry

I REALLY want one of those, but they are a bit pricey. 24 Hour Fitness had a deal a few months back, it was so many personal training sessions + a bodybugg for $199. I am waiting for that deal again.

Sooo...the clinic just called me, and now they can't pick me up at the border until 10:15 am tomorrow..grrrr! I am not very happy about this, because now I am going to be one of the last (if not THE last) to be banded, and I am driving in, and will probably run into tons of traffic.
-
Thank you!! I was a ball of nerves yesterday, but after looking at a bunch of OCC youtube videos, my mind is at ease. Now I just think I am nervous to meet Dr. Ortiz, because he is just gorgeous
-
That's awesome!! And yes, I will be bringing my laptop, so I hope to get on here and tell about my experience

I am having my "last meal" tomorrow night which will consist of rice and chicken cooked on a grill at a Japanese Restaurant. I need to get my fill in, incase I can't have it later. I decided to do my last meal tomorrow night so it's not just sitting there in my stomach on Thursday. That way Wed I can eat really lite and hopefully drop a pound or two. Today, was the first day...I got really nervous, to the point that I was making myself sick thinking about it. I was thinking about what if something goes wrong, do I really want to do this, etc...I was freaking myself out. I am ok now, thank goodness. I can't believe only a few more days..ahh!!

Sooo... dreampt about food last night

I haven't dreamt about food (yet) but I have noticed all the food commercials..lol. I have also been aware of how much I link food and some special place or thing. Like today, we were going to go to Disneyland, but I was thinking once the point of going if I can't have their delicious mozzarella sticks or their soup in the big sour dough bread bowl. Then I was thinking about going to Vegas after being banded, and I got disappointed knowing I wouldn't be able to eat like I used to while there. I just can't believe how much I thought about food. It's crazy! -
I have been PMS'ing too, but I have been doing a ton of cardio at the gym, and also taking long walks with my dog and my daughter at night, and have had no cravings (like I normally would have while PMS'ing) except for that first day. So far, I am down 5 lbs, I don't know if I will lose that 15 that they want me too, but hopefully they'll still do the surgery. I am also worried about weighing in, because I have been doing it naked..lol. Also, you know how all scales seem to be different..ugh..that makes me a little nervous!
-
I'm a little nervous, but I think more excited, and just ready to get started on my new life. Oh, and just really want to be done with the pre-op diet!
-
I may be too, and I was so worried about being all bloaty and crampy from my period and then being all bloaty and gassy from surgery..lol But I didn't want to put it off another week, so I am taking my chances. Thanks for asking about makeup...I feel really bare without some kind of makeup on, so good to know. Few more days for me too....AHHH lol
-
Ok, so I am asking this for my mother who is going with me next week. In case we have to stay all night at the clinic (my mom won't go back to the hotel by herself) is there any food places there, are next door? Or if she has to bring something, is there at least a vending machine where she might be able to get something to drink? Also, is there a refrigerator in side the rooms at Hotel Lucerna? Once I am picked up at the border, do we go to the hotel first to check in or do we go right to the clinic (I am being picked up at 8:00 am)? After being banded, is gum chewing allowed? What about ice (I know that's a stupid question, but I thought I would ask..lol) I love chewing on ice. Does the hotel restaurant take cash (american money) and credit cards/debit cards? Ok I think that's it for now, just trying to get the last minute questions out of the way. I appreciate all of you, you are all so informative

This pre-op diet is killing me..lol
ckiki replied to ckiki's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Those are excellent ideas. Fortunately, I don't like cake, so I am not worried about that, it's the pizza I'm worried about (it's my favorite). I plan to tell all my family after I have it done, it's just right now, trying to hide it is getting tough..lol. For breakfast this morning, since I am off today from work, I blended my french vanilla myoplex shake with some strawberries, 1 packet of splenda and some ice, and it was actually really good and filling. I couldn't even finish it all. And now I am off to the gym. This pre-op diet is getting easier, now that my cravings are pretty much gone. That first day about killed me..lol. -

Yeah, I was bad tonight, I went out to dinner with my family. But I vow to work it off tomorrow at the gym. The only other day, I am going to have a problem with is Sat night..it's my nephews 2nd bday, and since no one knows I am having this surgery done, it's going to look strange if I am not eating. They are having pizza and salad, I am going to TRY and just have salad...ugh! -
Yeah, I'm supposed to lose 15 lbs by next Thursday. The good news is, I didn't gain any weight since when I gave my weight to the OCC when I scheduled my band date, which was like a month and half ago...I thought for sure I would have to lose more then 15lbs. I am working my butt off for the next week in hopes to lose close to 15, but who knows..it's so stressful, I am looking forward to the post-op, it's going to be a breeze, compared to this madness..lol. Atleast, I can eat (drink) stuff I like, popsicles, gatorade, broth, etc...

Happy New Year everyone!!

So how do they figure out who has surgery first?
ckiki replied to ckiki's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Wow, I didn't know you could do that. I would have requested to be first, because I want to be released to go back to the hotel, because my mom won't go back to the hotel by herself, and then I want to leave the next day. Should I email them to see if that's possible, or is it too late to request this?
