    First Fill

Hey Angie thanks for the comment. I didn't think it would benecessayr to have the first fill under Floro, even thoughit is stressed at the OCC, at the Fill Centers the first fill w/ Floro is $665, w/o Floroit is $ 365. So the choice was clear, lol. The next Fill, which I hope to get soon will be $ 165 w/o and $ 465 with.
  2. I just hadmy first fill on Friday the 4th. I can eat solids today. I have pretty much no restriction. It is a little bit better that with no fill, so will probably need one or two more. I have 4.8cc's in an 11cc ban, I thought that that would be more than enough, but it was not. I did it without Floro, I wouldn't recommend it,if u can get it with at least an x-ray do that. The fill doc had to poke me several times and press really hard on my stomach b/c myport was really deep.
  3. Way to go you deserve better. Love reading your posts. Youy need somone that will resoect you and love you the same way that you love them. If Gio is not that person, then you have to leave him alone.

    First Fill

Hey Band mates, I had my first fill yesterday. I am very happy with the results so far. I had it done at Fill Centers USA in Mount Laurel New Jersey with Dr. Lee. He put 4.8 cc's in my 11cc band. The center is two hours away by car, but of course my car is giving me trouble, I didn’t want to chance it, so I had to take public transportation. I took the subway to Time Square, and then went to the Port Authority Station to get a Greyhound bus. The bus took about an hour and a half to get there, so I actually got there early. From there I had to get a cab to the actual center. The outside of the building looked really horrible I have to admit. It was dingy and dirty, but it was really nice and clean in the inside, I was the only one there so Dr. Lee started everything, even though I was about and hour early. He was very thorough with everything. He explained what I could and could not eat with the band, and all that stuff. Pretty much what we already know about the band. I really like that he want over everything and it wasn't rushed. He had me lay down on the examination table, and he started checking for the band. He poked around and it hurt like hell. The port was deeper than normal so he had to press really hard to get to the band. And he had to poke the needle in a couple of times, then he stopped because I was screaming so hard, he was like tell me when to start again. He asked me if I wanted him to continue, I was like yes. No pain no gain, right. He finally got the needle in and put in 5cc's. I asked he what was the normal amount that usually gets put into a band my size, he said it depends, anywhere from 2 to 7 cc's. He had me drink water to see how quickly it goes down. It was taking a long time, I really wanted to keep the 5cc's so that I would have as much restriction as possible but it was obvious to both Dr. Lee and me that that was too much. He took out .2 cc's and the water immediately started going down faster. I didn't do it under Floro as you may have figured out by now. I don't think it is necessary, and it is much cheaper for me to not have Floro the first time and then do it on subsequent trips. I think I will have great restriction with this fill. I am on liquids now, tomorrow I will be able to have solids, Dr. Lee said I should start out with mushies first, then have full solids. I am happy with the experience so far, I was really excited after it was done, I know that a lot of people who read this might be up in arms about the fact that I didn’t have Floro, but it was a personal decision. The staff at the OCC stress getting Floro, and I might get it next time, or not depending on how I feel. Thank You for reading, please feel free to comment. Bye.
  5. Angie I went to the fill center usa location in Mount Laurel NJ, with Dr. Lee. He was really nice. I would recommend him to anyone.

  6. Hey Angie I just got my first fill today and thought I would stop by and let u know. It went well, I'm really excited. I got 4.8cc's in my 11cc band. Reading ur recent scle whore post, really funny. Can't stop laughing. As I am not a scale whore at the present time, hate weighing in and not seeing what i want so I don't do it as often,so I am not able to join the group. Ur super ...

  7. Had my first fill today 4.8 cc's, in my 11cc band, I'm really excited, will post experience in blog.

  8. Hey everybody. I go for my first fill in two days at the Fill Center USA located in Mount Laurel New Jersey. It is two hours away from me, but it is easier for me to get there than to fly back to TJ. I haven't been doing as well as I wanted to. I have been stressed about a lot of stuff ie: trying to find a job, I graduated in May but can't seem to find anything...stupid recession. Anyways I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't lost any either. I'm holding steady at 224. Some mornings when I haven't eaten much it goes down to like 214, but I know its a lie so I don't even bother getting excited. I'm not eating as much as I used to but I'm not making the best food choices either. On a good note I ate very well today, AND I worked out. I did a 45 minute tape called TurboJam created by Chelene Johnson, you may have seen the infomercial. I highly recommend her. The music is great and she is super upbeat, and she really motivates me. Alright everyone have a good day, I will update you on how my fill goes on Friday. Bye.
  9. Kim you look amazing, u r such an inspiration to people like me who r just starting out.
  10. Hello and welcome. This forum consists mainly of people who were banded at the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana Mexico by Dr.Ortiz. I believe that most of the information is pertinent to anyone who is going to get banded though. For OCC patients we are on a liquid diet for three weeks after surgery, it may be different for you. The first week we can only have things such as broth, tea, juice diluted with water etc. Nothing thick. We are allowed full liquids such as yogurt. And creamy soup after a week. No foods with chunks in it. All this is done to help the band heal and scar into place. You may feel very hungry, you may not. I felt very hungry. If you are hungry like I was you may also feel tired and weak. Most people on this forum seem to dowell with that though, I may have been the exception to the rule. You may also experience gas pain, most people on here feel it in their shoulder. You will most likely have soreness at the port area, but it shouldn't be pain. For me it wasn't that hard after surgery, just a little bit of discomfort. Diabetes runs in my family, my mother, one of my four sisters, and a few of my auntsand uncles have it. My grandmother also had the disease as well, I know it can be tough. I have read in other places that weight loss surgery can help or even resolve Diabetes. If you lose the weight and become healthy after surgery, I believe that it can only help you. Good luck.
  11. Stormy, let the haters be ur motivators. I have never lost 46 pounds at any one given time in all of the five years that I have been tring to lose weight. That is an awesome accomplishment that you should be very proud of. Never let people who don't have positive things to say affect you in any way. When I came on here as a newbie I read the post of the older members and the information was invaluable. I looked at ur pics and read ur posts and they were very helpful to me. Thank you. And please come back to us, we need u.

    The Challenge

Thanx Angie, I can't wait until my first fill. I tried to move it up but it didnt work out, lol. I started going to the gym, two days ago was my first time, so hopefully I will start to see some real weight loss soon. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanx again.
  16. I agree with you %100, I think its ur right as a patient to ask questions about what's going to happen to ur on body. I trusted Dr. Ortiz implicitly, but I wish I had asked more questions, even though I know he has the expertise it wasn't until after my surgery that I found out I had an 11cc band. I woundn't challenge his decision but I would have liked to be more informed. I was by myself and there were so many things that I didn't even think of and by the time Dr.Ortiz came in I was already druged up. Do I think he made the right decision sure he's a surgeon, but this is gonna stay with u hopefully for a lifetime and u do want to have some idea/ say in what's going to happen to you. Just though I would add my two cents.
  17. Holly your boobs look awesome, i have two quick questions. 1.) where did yo u get your surgery. 2)how much did it cost
  18. Hey Bandster Buddie what's up? Today is day 22 after surgery....you know what that means, a food free for all...just kidding. I did pretty good today, I had porridge for breakfast, which is like oatmeal or grits. I had an eggwhite omlette for lunch. I haven't had dinner yet but I plan on having a chicken salad. I wanted to go to the gym, but I'm really sick with the flu...not swine...regular. I plan on going on Monday, I want to lose 4-5 pounds by December 4th, the date of my first fill, which is gonna be hard with no ristriction. Wish me luck.
  19. DO NOT GO TO THE CAMINO REAL, I stayed there didn't like it at all, it is the closest, like 5 minutes away. Most of the staff do not speak english. The service isnot that great either. I wouldn't recommend it. I tried to order broth, they brought me chicken soup instead. I just didn't like it.

    Bandster Hell

Thanx for all the support Angie. Ur awsome. : D
  22. Hey all I am on day 12 of my 21 day Liquid Phase. I am starting this blog for some accountability. I have done pretty good so far but I have had some slip ups so far, two minor ones and one major. I did manage to get back on the band wagon so I'm happy about that. I haven't posted my experience at the OCC, it was great everyone was great, professional. Everything was clean I went by myself so I pretty much stayed in my room after surgery. I went to Camino Real, not a big fan. From what I heard on here about the Lucerna and the Marriot, it did not compare. Not horrible, just not that great. I am glad I got the srgery, I have lost a few pounds, just not as much as I thought I would only drinking liquids. I had really bad for the first week, and I was super hungry. Since the gas has gone away I am not as hungry. It is managable hunger. I will try to postas much as possible to share my experiences with the band.
  23. Revy ilve been watching you a lot since ilve been on the forum ur doing such a great job keep up the good work ilm still on liquids but when I start solids I really hope I do as well as u have.
  24. Auggie I bought two four packs of these dannon drinkable yogurt's, they were about70 cal/per container. They were great. If I remember correctly I had one of the four packs on the first day. Yeah I know that's bad but they did really help with hunger and weakness. I strained them because they had small pieces of fruit in them. I tried the cramy soups today and I'm not a fan. I guess I will have to keep drinking the broth. I only had those two packages of yogurt by the way. After they were finished I never went back to buy any more. You seem to be doing great by the way keep up the good work. - Odette
  25. Hey Eric, I'm having the same problem with my port site. I'ts very tender and bruised. It really hurts when I laugh, maybe I shouldn't laugh, lol....ow. I got really hungry and I started the drinkable yogurt on the forth day post op, I started the protein shakes on the 6th day, and I plan to start the creamy soups tomorrow. I haven't lost that much weight, but I figure as long as I'm sticking with it and not eating solids I'll be fine.
