  1. Calling all walkers and runners. I have a challenge for you...As a team, can we walk/run 1000 miles? Wonder how long it will take us? All you need to do is log in your mileage on this ticker. Pin: occforum

We might even surprise ourselves and double the challenge. Who's in?

Don't forget to post your mileage individually so we can encourage/brag/or even do a little good natured trash talking, as well.

NOTE: Hey guys, I'm not sure I posted this clearly...I'll try again. The ticker above is for all of us to use, the pin/password is for you to log in with. Just click on the ticker and it will take you to the edit ticker page where you will enter the pin/password: occforum and add in you miles (just like you would with your own personal weight ticker). No need to add another one to your personal signature.

  2. It has only been 4 months since I got banded, but I can still do steak. All I want to know is when is the cook-off, you made my mouth water as I read your post. The more fills you get, the more restriction you get. You may be one that is doesn't bother. Only time will tell. Enjoy-Now!

  3. I too, love the photo's. I do not have a problem with them slowing down my system, but sure that it could. When I first started coming to this site, the pic's where a big part of why I liked coming back. Seeing everyone's progress was very encouraging. I understand the pics are to go in the gallery, but I do like them on the signatures....its nice to see who your chatting with.

  4. Yea !!! Congrats  HAPPY DANCE !!!

I crossed my legs the other day while sitting with our walking/running group and one of the girls slapped my leg down!!! I'm like what the heck!!

She screamed at me... "You are not suppose to cross your legs" LOL Everyone looked at her!!! I crossed them again and said "hey I finally can do it!! I had the whole group clapping for me LOL (I'm seeing a Chiropractor for back/leg issues you are not suppose to cross your legs)

Baahaaahaa, I love it. I can understand why we're not suppose to cross them, but man... that felt good.

  5. Ok, this may seem a little....silly. It's the small things in life that carry's us through sometimes. Well, I sitting in church with my legs crossed and all of a sudden....I realized that...my legs were crossed. WoW, it's been a long time since I've been able to do that comfortably. I started to grin to myself and my friend was looking at me like I had lost my mind. After the service I shared with her my secret. Bahahahahaha, nothing like two middle aged women doing the happy dance at church. Just had to share. Can anyone relate?

  6. Ok, now that you two have made my mouth water....your right.

I now by more veggies and fruit. Turkey burgers have replace beef, tomato pie is a must and I think I've turned into a camel...water, water, water!!!

Cracker Barrel's kids plate grilled chicken tenders and green beans have replaced fast food...anything!

Walking is now for exercise and not to just get me in the house to find my chair.

I am loving my new life!

  7. Hey ladies, would any of you who have a Nike sensor like to start logging in your mileage.

It might be fun to see how many miles we walk/run all together. I have a feeling it would blow our minds.

If you don't have one they are about $20. My son and I both have one and are constantly trying to out do the other. Of course, I'm old, over weight and he's 14 and healthy as a horse, but a great motivator none the less.

Let me know and we'll start logging in our miles.

  8. i had my 2nd fill yesterday got 6.6 cc's by Dr. So and once i left the OCC i took a bite of my bf's sandwich (we packed.) and headed into the Comercial Mexicana to pick up some stuff THEN and got stuck terribly!! I thought i chewed enough and swallowed. Thank goodness it's a huge market... i walked around like a maniac until it passed... the good thing about all this... I don't think i'll be eating bread anymore. And that's one less addiction... has anyone gotten stuck on chocolate? haha..

That would just be way to cruel....Bread & Chocolate! Hehehehe!

  9. Hey Ladies, I can not say enough about by experience....it has been life changing. It is the best thing I have ever done or myself. I also looked at Dr. Dr. Rodriguez, but when I found out my own doctor and her sister went to Dr. Ortiz, I was sold. She could not say enough about Dr. O and the clinic. I also did LOTS of research on Dr. O and found him to be the best choice for me. Like Jill said, (by the way I was banded with Jill in Jan.) he has done tons of surgeries and help developed the band. I also send tons of questions to them and they answered each and everyone of the. He has a very good track record - I asked questions like...infection rate, fatality rate, percent of slippage, etc. All were the right answers.

I have had 1 fill at OCC and have lost about 48lbs now. I researched the band for about 4 year before I actually got the opportunity to do it. With that said....I was ready...in the head. My mind was made up that I was going to do this thing. That has always been my battlefield...making my mind up to do it. I have had an easy time changing my mindset and following the rules. Now that is a miracle!

The surgery, clinic and meeting some great people along the way, has been great!!!

    Hope this helps!

  10. Congrats and welcome to "Band Land".

    1. Clear liquids - I wouldn't think Clamato and/or tomato juice would be the best right now.

    2. Itchy incision - Man, I remember that, mine itched like crazy. I did call OCC about

that... they told me not to put anything on them until the glue came off...by itself.

    3. Heart burn & gas - Gas X and walk, walk, walk!

    4. Fiber - Please call Dr. Miranda, I have seen several different things. I was advised

not to take fiber during that phase.

Hang in there....it gets easier as you go. Keep asking questions, we are all here to help each other!

  11. I have typed several different notes, then delete, write again, delete... I guess I just want to say..HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU STICK TO THE 21 DAY LIQUID DIET? I am due for my surgery on the 18th of this month.. I have been able to sick to the diet Dr. Miranda suggested, but here comes the surgery, and then TWENTYONE DAYS of LIQUID???? That is like having a three week colonoscopy!! I really don't know how you did it and any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. I am having even more doubts about this surgery...as I said in another post...I think Murphy was an optimist. Congrats to you for being so strong and able to get through this. And...good luck on continued success.

I just realized that yesterday was your "band date"...Congrats! I hope you are doing well. Just wanted to throw in my two cents worth. Make up your mind that you are going to do this to the very best of your ability and stick to the plan they give you. You can do it! Remember it's a time of healing, strength and success for the future. When you make it through 21 days of liquids....girl you can do anything!! Hold your head up high and pat yourself on the back and "Go FOR It"! Can't wait to see how well you do! Welcome to "BandLand"!

  12. There is something that does stands out, though. I can't say I feel "full" but I'm not hungry either. I didn't even finish my food but I probably could eat more but not out of hunger, just cuz I could. At the same time I could have eaten far less. After I was done I remembered what Dr. O said about testing my band to see how little I can eat. I wish I had. :(

Now about not feeling full. I really thought about this and what I'm not feeling is "engorged". I have a sense of fullness up top but I don't have that full feeling all the way down past my belly button. I sense that I never will and I'm totally fine with that. I'm not hungry at all but that "full" sensation, that really just borders on discomfort, is not there.

You took the words right out of my mouth. That is exactly the way I feel and just didn't know quite how to put it. When I finally had the opportunity to get banded, I was sooooo ready,(especially after 4 years of waiting) that my head was in the right place....Thank you, Lord!!! For me, that was the trick. After my surgery, I too felt full and the 21 days of liquids were not a problem for me at all. I can honestly say even up to this point, I have had very few days where I have been hungry. Our definition of "full" is now what we used to call "satisfaction" and not of "engorged". That's what I though "full" was too. The band has been the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I have learned a lot about myself and the way I think of food. It is now for nutrition and health, not something to do because I'm bored, not a drug to feel better or a friend who is always there. I love having my band and the new outlook it has given me.

    Thank you for posting!!
