  1. Kristi, Thank you so much for posting this. You are exactly right. I am new to band land, only 22 days old and I am becoming obsessed with the scale. NOT GOOD! If I'm not careful it dictates my mood and self esteem. I am on the Wed. weight in's and I am going to start back doing just that, only weighing in on Wednesday's. Sunday I got into a pair of jeans (without and elastic band) that has not seen the light of day in quite a while. When I got those puppies zipped it was an amazing feeling. Now that's what it's all about!! Thanks again for the kick in the pants to stop focusing on the scales.

janellody, thanks for the site....I think! WoW, what a eyeopener. Now that makes more sense. You could have warned me - before I was grossed out. Baahahaaa Although, now I realize why my butt looks like it does. Baahahaha Thanks, great info.

  2. From the results it definitely looks like the people who go to the OCC have fewer fill - but not that many people have voted!

I have a question for those of you who have used the OCC. Has anybody ever had to have an unfill? I guess what I'm thinking is, if I decide to go to the OCC for my fills, I'm wondering if they have a better/lower % of unfills than other places since I live across the country.

Thanks for asking about unfills, didn't think of that!

  3. Amy this is how it is done where I go get my fills. I love watching the screen. This was by far the best fill video I have seen. They did a good job of catching it on tape. I don't go back to the OCC, but I do have excellent care where I am. So it is awesome. To me the expense, time, and travel were issues for me.

Glad you get to go back. Do you live close by? I live in Omaha, NE. So I am pretty far out.

No, I'm not close. I live in Tenn. The doctor I have here in the states is going to be $500.00 for the first two fills. I can actually get to OCC for just a little more than that. The time it takes to go back and forth is not an issue and the buddy that when with me the first time is willing to go back. Sounds like another "girls weekend" out! Dr. Ortiz told me that if I come back there for my fills, I would need fewer than what they would do in the states. He said maybe 2-3 for life, it really got my attention. If that is true, it's a no brainer in my book. I just hope I was not under the influence of those wonderful drugs they gave me. I guess it would be a good idea to call and ask about that!

  4. Congrats, on setting a date! You can do this and you will be asking yourself ...why did I wait. My doctor also encouraged me to do the surgery and recommended that I go to Mexico. I was banded on Jan. 7th and I can't believe how easy the whole trip/surgery was. I also stayed at the Marriott and was very pleased. That seems to the place most people pick, so the big benefit is...your going to meet other people who are headed to OCC too. There were two other ladies who I have had the pleasure of being banded with. It was so nice to have someone else there who was going through the same thing as I was. The hardest thing about the whole thing was the month I had to wait.

  5. Calf, thanks for all the tofu tips. I am definitely going to give it a try. What kind or brand do you like?

Margie, chicken meatballs sounds wonderful...my mouth is watering. I have the website's you suggested bookmarked and will check them out tom. Thank you!

Angie B, I will let you know if I find the "secret drink", I will be going to Wal-Mart in the next day or two. Keep you posted!

Thanks guys, I love everyone's feedback and it is much appreciated! ;)

  6. Jill, I am counting down the days until we can CHEW! My first day of food is going to be: Scrambled eggs w/low fat cheese, a veggie burger patty for lunch and I have no clue what is for supper. I'm allergic to fish, so I'm out of luck there. Ok, so now I'm a little nervous about chicken. That was on my list until now.

  7. How cool is that. I wondered what the whole fluoroscope thingy was all about. I have been trying to decide if I was going back to OCC or stay in the states to do my fills. The doctor here does fluoroscope, so now I am confussed.

Seems like it would be hard to mess up with this type of fill.

Thanks for posting this AngieB, food for thought.

  8. Amy - you know I would pull out all the secrets for you girly! Even the secret sauce....You crack me up! It is so good though sometimes I think I am having sweet baby rays with a side of chicken.... LOL Yeah, I am a nut but hey....makes life a bit more interesting. Ahh I love it. I love love your new avatar piccy....so creative....

Ok, you now need to tell me where to get the secret drink....I mean sauce.

Life is way to short, not to have a good time and be a little silly. Thanks, for the comment on new pic. I was feeling a little sassy today!

    Hugs & Kisses!

  9. Jill sorry to make your mouth water....I know how you feel cuz I was once there. Maybe this will give you a chuckle....I use to chew my shakes....yes....just so I felt like I was chewing something.....yeah...big dork...LOL

Baaaahaaahaaa! Girl, I think I'll try that!

  10. Angie, girl you crack me up! It's nice to see your back to your great post, full of wit and charm. I am so with you and the soft nana's, did not know I could freeze them. Cool! Someone gave me a large container of Arbonne protein power, wasn't sure what to do with it until now...Smoothie's....Yummy! And thanks for the heads up on the seeds and bubbles, I wouldn't have even thought of that.

And NO, you should not have told me about "Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce"...sounds sooooooo good. I wonder...scatching head...is that considered a liquid....I could drink it....I am on liquids! Baaaahaahaaa!

Thanks for all the other tips, I feel like now I have some idea of what I can do and can do some smart shopping. I'm not much of a fruit person, so the smoothie's will be great for me!

I love eggs and turkey...sounds like that's a good thing.

1 TBSP of veggies, that's like 1/2 a baby carrot....WOW, that's it. Will have to keep an eye on that. (and I do mean an eye...don't need both eye's with just a 1 tbsp.) heheheh!

Thanks again, you are such a blessing!

CALF, thanks for the Tofu tip. I have never bought or eaten Tofu before. Wasn't sure what to look for or what to do with it once I got it. I will give it a try. Oh, and thanks for the heads up on the estrogen, I do take a compounded hormone cream, never knew that! Is soy milk the same way?

macleay, girlfriend, I'm with you....I am soooooo ready to chew, chew, chew.

Trying to get my ducks in a row....I wonder...can we have duck? hehehehe

  11. Thanks for the post! I learn something new on here everyday. Being a newbie to bandland, I have a tenancy to be focused on one step at a time. I'm still in liquidland, but I'm already focusing on the next stage....eating and fills. I love the fact that everyone here is honest and not only post their ups but also their struggles. You guys have made this adventure much easier by letting the rest of us know what to expect in the next stage.

The head games have always been my struggle. I know through the years when I've tried to lose the weight if my head was not in it, it was not going to work. I know those struggles do not disappear when you get the band, but my new found weapon is...this forum and all of you. Just knowing what to expect is a great advantage in my book. The though of only eating a cup or less of food is definitely a new concept that I am trying to get my head around now.

  12. This is the funniest thing ever. I am sitting here at work, thank goodness by myself, laughing my butt off. The funny thing with mine was that the front got all bunched up on one side.:o The more I trying to pull them and straighten them out the more I got tickled at the thought of being that way during my surgery.....SURPRISE! Baaaahaaahaaa! I did get them fixed, like that was much better!

THANKS for the laugh.....i needed it this morning!!!

  13. Hey bogiesmom, that's a great idea - something around your tummy. I was banded on a Thurs. and was back to church on Sunday, where I'm the children's director. The only thing I noticed was that I was a little sore, nothing bad at all, and that I held my stomach when I laughed. I have been wearing a sports bar since being banded. One of the incisions is pretty high and my wire bar seemed to irritated it. You should be just find as long as you don't lift any kido's.

Congrat's on setting a date, your going to do great!

  14. Hey guys, I was just wondering if you had any good ideas on how to get in so much protein. I am allergic to fish,(bummer), so that's out. I don't see a lot of you eating chicken, is there a reason? What about beef? I want to be prepared for the next stage - chewing! hehe I have noticed some of you doing protein shot's...any thoughts on that? Those little guys are kind of expensive, not sure I want to start that. Do you do them on occasion or all the time? Don't want to get in the habit of reaching for liquids.
