  1. Hey guys, I guess I'll add my two cents worth. I too have the larger band and have continued to lose weight. I did my homework, and as far as I'm concerned picked the best Doctor I could. He has excellent credentials and an excellent record. I went into surgery with full trust that he was the doctor for me. At that point, the decisions (which band) I needed was up to him. I have followed the rules of OCC from the very being and still up to this point have not had bread, rice and the few other things they said could cause trouble. I just decided to stay away, since those are my weakness anyway. I had my first fill on Jan. 24th and really can't tell if I have much restriction. But I have not "tested" it either. I do know that I can not eat as much as I was and for that is has been a success for me. Dr. So did tell me that for every 20lbs. your body would plateau and sometimes that could last for 2 months or so. I am in no hurry to get fills and I am trying to let my body and the client walk my through the process. Dr. Miranda told me if I had any questions or plateaued and needed some help to move pass to just get her a call. That is what they are there for.

I have tried WW several times in the past and followed it to the letter....and gained weight each time. I think WW is a great program but it does not work for everyone. There must be something about it that my body just doesn't respond to.

I will be honest....I am not following a "diet". I am eating (for the first time in my life) properly. Protein, veggies and fruit. I do not count, write down and keep track....I know, I know. This is a life time change for me and not a "diet". I know that I would not continue to keep track for very long. I have made a conscious decision to pay attention to what I am putting in my mouth. It is my choices that are going to determine my success or not. I am very thankful that I now have something that will work with me instead of working my butt off and getting no where.

  2. Hey Linsey, your right! Call a local "all natural" store and the organic coconut oil was about 20 bucks. Found some at Wal-Mart for $10 actually in the vitamin section-not labeled for the skin, but for consumption. I have been using it for my skin for about a week now and love it. I have never been a "lotion" person because of my oily skin. Couldn't stand the way it would sit wet feeling on my skin. This stuff is awesome. It actually soaks in and doesn't feel oily or greasy. My skin is so smooth feeling. I have read up on it and it seems to have lots of good quality's. I guess only time will tell if it does anything (elastic wise) for my skin.

  3. I didn't have any hunger either. I think the trick is to keep sipping on something all day. If your full of liquids you don't get hungry. I did ask someone on here and they told me you can't over do liquids-just try to take smaller sips than normal. I love coffee and something hot worked great for me. Everyone is different and will react differently. At first your body is healing so its not to worried about food. Just my experience! Your going to do great. Make up your mind going into this thing that you are going to do it and do it right....that's the battle!!

  4. Does anyone use coconut oil for their skin. When I was at OCC for my first fill Dr. Miranda told me to use a good moisturizing lotion with something in it for elasticity or cellulite. Have been looking around on the internet and came across Virgin Coconut Oil for the skin. Sounds great, but everything always does. Would like to know what you guys think or what you use. Most of what I've seen in the stores have been for the face and neck, and are in small little jars. Girl I need something that comes in a bucket.

  5. I am happy to hear that the recordings will be available on line. I am in the central time zone and often our day begins at 5 am. So we are early to bed peeps and I couldn't say up late to make it.....(does that offically make me old...? Ha!)

Yes...love ya! Don't worry, your in good company. Heeheeheee

  6. I too am a tomato pie junkie...love it for breakfast. I cut my onions up very fine, not a huge fan of their texture. It is wonderful and very addictive. Enjoy!!

    TOMATO PIE (SMACK YER GRANNY!)

1 9 inch ready made pie crust

2 LARGE ripe tomatoes, sliced thin, salted, and drained

    1 medium onion, sliced thin

    1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

    1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese

    3/4 cup mayonnaise

Bake pie crust in oven for about 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven. <- IMPORTANT STEP TO BAKE PIE SHELL, DONT SKIP!

Put thinly sliced onions in bottom of pie crust

Then layer (DRAINED) sliced tomatoes over onions <- IMPORTANT TO DRAIN THE TOMATOES FIRST (To Drain: Slice and lay on paper towel)

Mix cheeses and mayo, add black pepper.

Pour cheese mixture over tomatoes, spread.

Bake pie in 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes.

  7. Hey guys, just wanted to check in. I just got my first fill at OCC and I must say....I love that place. Everyone there is very itentive and I always have a supper experience. Dr. So was great in explaining everything and I received 4cc's. The fluoroscopy is sooo cool. You get to see your band, the port and even your under wires in your bra. With fluoroscopy the guess work and not knowing where your port is...is just not an issue. I did get to talk to Dr. Miranda and check in with her with was nice. Oh and the icing on the cake....I got to see sweet Carmelita.

  8. Womans sizes are even 2,4,6,8,10,12,14 etc...

Junior Miss sizes are odd 5,7,9,11,13 etc.

If you went from a size 2 to 4 that's considered one size up in womans clothing

you kind of have to compare apples to apples -

Misses clothing is cut differently and isn't cut as wide in the hips and thigh area, hence someone may be able to wear a 7 in misses but can fit a size 4 womans.

Womans size clothing are meant for a womans body. These departments are usually in different areas of a clothing store. Junior Misses are usually the younger, or hipper clothes.

Hey I never knew that! Of course I've never been able to shop in "those" parts of the store before either. But I will one of these days. I don't even care what size it is...just that its not in the "BIG GIRL" section! hehehehe

  9. You are very welcome! Nothing like waiting til the last minute, huh?

Hey, do you have a specific time you're going to be filled? Because they know I'm showing up with my daughter and I really don't have any idea if I'll be filled before, during, or after the surgeries that day!

I'm scheduled for 9:00am on Wednesday. My flight back out is at 3:05. I hope that is enough time to tell if my fill is right.

  10. Whoop, Whoop! Welcome to Band Land. Glad to hear everything went great for you. I too, was so amazed at how smoothly and easy everything went. You hate to say surgery was fun, but I actually had a great experience and meet some great people. Keep us posted.

And you know, us wife's are always on the cautious side...just our nature! Someone's got to look after you guys!

  11. So Sorry! Family can be some of the toughest people we deal with. No sister, but my Mom is the one who can send my into orbit. I would have to agree with the others, you have to make the decision for whats best for YOU and your family. When you have a peace about something and all the detail work out, then go for it. You are accountable for you. Going to your sister is the right thing to do and the rest is up to her. At least your contagious will be clear in knowing you tried to make things right. You have an awesome support group here and I don't have a sis, so I'll adopt you as mine. Your going to love your new you!

  12. Baaaahaaaahaaaa....I love it! When we where there, we did the same thing...."WoW, it's in Spanish" like we were in a foreign land or something. I love the post wouldn't change a thing.
