  1. I brought by 11 year old daughter and my mom with me when I had my surgery. They had fun together at the Marriott ordering room service and swimming when I was having my surgery
  2. I am really looking forward to getting my first fill this Saturday at the OCC. I have gained 6 pounds since starting on solid food three weeks ago. I sure hope I will feel some restriction after my fill.
  3. Good luck on your fill tomorrow. Hopefully it will be just the right amount for you! Sherri
  4. Michele, I just talked to Dr So and he said since I am not feeling any restriction after my surgery then he will be more aggressive at my first fill. I need to remember to eat my protein first. Thanks for the reminder. I am craving breads and sweets and I find them very hard to resist. Maybe after I have my fill they will be something I will not be able to tolerate and that will stop me. I am not much of a meat eater and need to find some protein foods that sound good to me. Thanks so much for the reply. Sherri
  5. I think I need to start weighing every week instead of everyday. My weight yesterday was 215 pounds.
  6. I finished my Post Op diet on Wednesday and do not feel any type of restriction at all... I have gained three pounds in the last three days. I can eat anything without an problem, bread, rice, steak etc. I am trying to eat less than I did before my surgery but I am starving from being on the post op diet for three weeks. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
  7. Hello, I am leaving soon for the OCC. What items do I need to bring? What are the gas strips that people talk about? Do you only get three pain pills to take home? I had severe gas pains, nausea and vomiting for two days after my gallbladder surgery . I could not keep any fluids down and had to have any IV and stay in thd hospital for three days. I am scared to death and I want to be prepared when I am discharged to the Hotel. Any suggestions or things everyone wished they knew before their surgery ? Thanks so much...
  8. Wow , it gives me hope that the band will work for me too. I also eat for emotional reasons. Have fun at your daughters graduation. I also leave next week for Colorado Springs for my oldest sons graduation from the USAFA. I hope to keep on my Pre Diet.
  9. Margie, I am also going to use this blog to make myself accountable too. It really does help to see what others are doing to keep loosing weight. Hang in there and good luck.. I am having my surgery on June 2nd

    One Week Post-Op

Wow you are doing great......I hope things go as well for me when I have my surgery on June 2nd. Congrats...
  11. I found it on our DVR too! Thanks, Sherri
  12. That is too funny, I can't wait until my undies start to fall off my butt...! Sherri
  13. Carrie, My name is Sherri. I am a nurse and have a few ideas you might want to try. Are you having trouble keeping foods and fluids down? If you are you could go to the ER on an emergency basis. They will not turn you away like some private doctors will when they see you have had surgery out of the country. They will have a surgeon who is on call who knows how to deal with this since there are people who have had surgery in the USA that have slipped bands too. It is not because you had your Lab Band done in Mexico. Although I bet you might hear that from the US doctors who treat you. Maybe the ER can find a way to get Pre Authorization because it would be emergency.. You can also go online and look up your healthcare benefits to see what all will be covered. Our insurance has a 1800 number on the back of the card you can call where they will answer any questions for you. You need to be proactive about this.. You can't live with a band around your esophagus forever. I would also call the OCC. I was reading where Dr Ortiz was doing some kind of work with slipped bands. Best Wishes, Hang in there... Let us know what you find out
  14. Thanks so much for the U tube Video info It was good to see the portions and what she left on her plate. She said had the gastric sleeve Does anyone know if that is about the same as the Lap Band in the type and amount of food that you can eat after surgery?
  15. I just found out today that best friend from Portland has decided to have her Lap Band surgery with me on June 2nd. Lori said we can be in the same recovery room together. I think they are going to try to get us hotel rooms that are connected too. I wonder if I should just let my mom and daughter stay at the hotel the morning of surgery. Do very many people leave the day of surgery to spend the night at the Hotel or do most people spend the night at the hospital?
  16. Yes my mom will be there with her the whole time.. We live in Tennessee and my parents live in California. My daughter does not see her grandmother that often so I thought that they would be able to play at the pool and just spend some time together at the hotel while I was in the hospital. A vacation for her and my mom and surgery for me...
  17. Terri, I will be having surgery the day before you on the 2nd. What time do you arrive? I am going to be staying at the Lucerna too. I wonder if we might bump into each . Sherri
  18. My friend gave me this diet to try. I am having my surgery on June 1st and I have been doing the Protein Shake for breakfast and lunch and Low Cal microwave meal for dinner. I have also been eating salad and vegetables. I am already tired of the shakes. I thought I might give this a try since my mom and sister will be here Thurs - Tues for my sons graduation. May 9th 2010

I have been doing the Pre Op Diet for a week now . I have been totally starving... Grumpy.... It is like I NEED Suger and Bread so bad that I am dreaming of going to IHOP for pancakes with straberries and whipped cream or to the Red Lobster for the cheese biscuits. Lori who answers the OCC phone calls said I can eat lots of salad during this time so now I am filling bowls to the top with veggies. Huge mixing bowls with mushrooms, tomato, leattuce, carrots, green beans, cucumbers etc. I found some 0 calorie salad dressings that I am using on the salads. Since adding the salads I have gained 2 pounds. Maybe I just need to go back to the two protein shakes and one low calorie dinner again. Being a bulk eater you give me permission to eat something and I will . Also, I made a HUGE mistake last night running into the store for some Lean Cusine meals with my 12 year old daughter. She always talks me into buying junk for her to eat. I let her get some sugar cookies and chocolate donuts because I did not want to make her think she was on a diet too. She is a gymnast and she is all muscle.. Why knows why but those cookies were calling my name after she went to bed. I kept telling myself that it was OK to eat them since I was going to get a Lap Band soon so eating a few cookies wouldn't matter. Well it did matter... I stepped on the scale this morning an gained another pound... YIKES.... I am going the wrong way on the scale. Oh well today is another day. I have been told that Success is a Journey not a Destination and I believe it. I am praying for sucess on this Journey...
  22. I was wondering if anyone has taken their kids to Mexico with them when they are having surgery? I have a 12 year old daughter that I am thinking of taking with me along with my mother when I have surgery. My husband has to stay here and work and I think Anna would enjoy the trip to see her Grammie rather than staying here in Tennessee with a babysitter. Lori said she has brought her kids to the Lucerna and felt it is safe there. Thanks
  23. Hello everyone... I will be having surgery on June 2nd. Is anyone else from this group going to be in Mexico for fills or surgery during that time? Just wondering.. Maybe we can all have a clear liquid meal together... LOL Sherri in Memphis
  24. Well I am new at this blogging thing so I just somehow lost the blog I just wrote for today . Now I am typing a new entry... Today started good with a wt loss of 10 pounds since I weighed in at my doctors last week. I have been trying to stick with the Pre Op Diet witht he protein shakes and the low cal microwave meal for dinner.. I have been totally starving. Tonight I made some sugar free jello and had some watermellon. I don't think that it part of the diet but I was starving and when I added the calories of the shakes 360 plus the dinner of 225 that 575 calories was pretty low. I did make two salads with spray dressing but I don't think that had many calories. hopefully in this next month I will be able to stick to this diet and loose some weight. I need someting to look forward to.
