  1. This week I'm down here in TJ having Hiatial Hernia repair. Things are going great so far, and I don't expect any different. Everyone at the OCC has been above and beyond in the professialism and hospitality department. I wish to make a comment concerning the OCC's new van driver Omar. The OCC has really picked a winner here. Omar has taken this position to a new level. He's the first person your going to meet when you arrive in San Diego. He's very friendy and professional, the van is very clean and nice looking. Omar is a great asset to the OCC team. So far my surgery and stay in TJ has been great. I couldn't ask for anything more which the OCC hasn't done already. I hope everyone that comes to the OCC has this kind of experiance and the OCC maintains this level of service to all of its patients. I have also noticed something different in TJ. It seems that this town has stepped up its image and I've noticed that it's much friendlier and cleaner that the last time I was here. I hope this tread continues.
  2. This is the topic for those who are scheduling their surgery during the year of 2015. Posting in this topic gives you a chance to meet other patients that are going to be in TJ during this year.
  3. Dr. Medinas plastic surgery skills are amazing. Check out belgiumamazons before and after pictures.

  4. Hi Jack, This forum is for patients and future patients that are mostly self-pay and coming to Mexico/OCC for their weight loss surgery. If your looking for advice concerning the Canadian Health care system, you might want to seek out our Canadian patients or another forum.
  5. Today I popped in to the OCC clinic and met a few patients. I'm always glad to actually meet some of the forum members at the OCC.

  8. Do you newbies and wannabe lap-banders and sleeve patients wonder what it's like to eat at buffets in restaurants at an All-Inclusive resort? Here's how I handle it. Breakfast buffet: One egg over easy, 2 strips of bacon, 2 thin slices of grapefruit and 1 piece of steamed broccoli. The amount was just right. I didn't over do it and was very satisfied.
  9. Lunch buffet: 1 hamburger patty with a little cheese and lots of ketchup (I like ketchup), 2 small BBQ ribs and some kind of mystery meat. I ate half of the burger patty, ate some of the ribs and mystery meat and was full. A hour after lunch, and I'm not going to lie, I snuck in a very small soft serve ice cream cone.
  10. Dinner at a restaurant: I had a couple bites of a small appetizer (not pictured). Then for the main course, I had several pieces of meat and ate several bites of the tomato and potatoes, I left the rice. I still had room left to sample a little 2 inch diameter piece of cheese cake. After dinner, I socialized with our group and had a Tequila Sunrise drink. I didn't feel I over ate, But I felt full all day. I have issues with getting in my daily requirements of protein, so you'll notice I concentrated on the protein. Going to a buffet or going on vacation isn't a major challenge to the lap-band or sleeve lifestyle. I know a lot of it looks tasty, but just take a bite or two and before you know it, your full.

  14. I guess it depends on which side of the border your staying on. On the San Diego side, SD Zoo, Sea World, The Midway aircraft museum, etc. Food places, Phil's BBQ, In N Out burgers and several places that have been mentioned on the Food Network. I personally have done the Zoo and the Midway aircraft carrier museum. Both are located in downtown SD. I highly recommend Phil's BBQ for a last meal, it's located near Sea World. San Diego has a great Mass Transit system, get a day pass and go almost anywhere. On the TJ side, I don't know much of anything to do. There's Revolution Ave (lots of MX tourist shops with lots of junk), which isn't too far from the OCC, but it's a good walk from the Marriott, Be Safe, I suggest a taxi. There's several Malls, one is just a couple blocks South of the Marriott. You could walk the Ave of the Hero's, which starts real close to the OCC and runs to the hotel Lucerna. Ave of the Heros has several drive arounds with large statues in the middle of them. There's a mall a couple blocks from the OCC. You'd have to talk to the staff at the OCC to get a better handle on what to do in TJ.
  15. I'd be calling your lapband surgeon. ASAP
  16. Only a few days left for the OCC "Before and After" contest

  17. This is a great post! All of us at the forum love to read these. With WLS and a positive Plastic Surgery experience, It's a major self esteem booster. Your post reflects your enthusiasm!
  18. What Janinka2003 is referring to is the new Obalon Balloon WLS that the OCC offers. It's a short term medical device/balloon that's inserted into your stomach. I really don't know much about it or have any first hand experience with it. Contact your OCC coordinator for further info.
  19. I have that same issue and have had it for years. I'm not anemic, but I find it hard to get in my daily requirements of protein. Trying drinking at least one high protein shake a day. I found unjury.com has a high protein chicken broth that's pretty tasty. I personally have found that most protein shakes taste awful, but there are some good shakes out there. Keep looking for one that you'd like. In fact, I'm urging forum members to tell us which brands they find tasty and which ones they find awful.
  20. Patience Grasshopper. lol. You didn't mention if you followed a daily exercise plan. Exercise is a must if you want success.
  21. Surgery coordinator Lori just back from the OCC and posted a blog and some really interesting pictures in the Gallery,,,, check it out.
