  2. Kalkaska Michigan? OMG spent my summers there in my youth...so long ago! Love that area!!
  3. I did it, my pedometer was at 11,561 when I took it off about 5:30 this evening. Beautiful walk along the patuxent river in scenic Southern Maryland. Y'all should have been there.
  4. Had a fill in mid-October and have lost pretty good since then. I actually find myself saying, oh know I have to update my ticker and signature....AGAIN....what a great NSV!!! Here is to updating daily...YIPPEEEE

  6. I avoid cooking (LOL) so don't have to worry about the tasting question But, if I have a snack I do wait the hour until drinking something. Sometimes I actually get mad at myself for having the snack because then I can't drink. In the end it was probably the thirst that I wanted to quench and not hunger pangs when I snack anyway. Probably a good rule of thumb to drink BEFORE snacking and see if that resolves the urge to snack. Special K protein water is always a good choice because it quenches, has taste and a few grams of protein. Old habits die hard huh??? Good Luck!
  7. Jann, The pedometer is by ACCUSPLIT and it was like $21.99 but that was a few years ago so may have gone up. Here is a link to one w/leash but it is not my model although it looks like a great model! http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/ind...rentPage=search I was losing them at about 1 every other week or so and even the cheap ones add up then!
  8. Heck even if you have a lapband DONT post Ads on the formum!!
  9. My pedometer has a "leash" on it. Paid a little more for it at Sports Authority but after losing so many because they just fall off so easily it was well worth it! I have had it for over 3 years and yes I do get more than 10k steps in almost every day. I average about 14k Monday - Friday and then about 8k on weekends. I love my band and my pedometer!!
  10. I lost about 20 lbs from my first fill and then held steady for about 6 weeks, so I consider that a successful fill. My fill doc was impressed with the results and said that usually most patients don't do that well from the 1st fill. I had 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band. Think positively, watch your intake, exercise and you will see results. Good luck with your fill!!
  11. hey Taz, Just because you posted your entire menu and you asked what you could do different: 110 calories for a sugar free popsicle seems awfully high, mine are only 25 calories Possibly, 795 calories a day is too low for you. Not seeing a lot of protein in your menu, maybe add special k protein water or some other protein drink. Finally, if you are doing the step thing, kick it up to at least 10k (that is about 5 miles) Hope that helps. Kim
  12. Kim you look AMAZIMG!!!!! Way to go and congrats on your results and on your perseverance to stick with it!!! Yayyy U!!!
  13. I eat salad and have no problems. My question to you is do you mean "salad" or lettuce? I can see having lettuce on a sandwich but that is not salad just an ingredient in the salad. Are you using iceburg lettuce or other types of greens? Iceburg lettuce is one of the hardest things for your stomach to digest so maybe consider switching to another type of lettuce, like a butter or bibb might be easier on you. Not sure where Bobdole heard you should not eat salad, but you are certainly allowed salad. I usually try to add a protein source like roasted chicken, hard boilded egg or cheese to my salads.
  14. Hi Mona.... Congrats on your restriction and ENJOY it!!! Here are my thoughts, if you are full after 2-3 bites, then stop eating and eat again in a couple hours, get full again on the 2-3 bites. If you do the math over a 24 hour period, taking off 8 hours for sleeping that is only like 24-36 bites for the whole day! We all know that if that is all you are eating you WILL lose weight!! I would just really encourage you to make really smart choices for those 2-3 bites. Pick moist solid proteins like fish, chicken, beef. Try to avoid mushy foods like oatmeal, potatoes, cottage cheese. A long time ago I read to avoid cottage cheese, even though it is considered a "diet" type food, something about the texture and how it looks is how it ends up looking on your body. I know I don't want any more cottage cheese on my thighs! Best of luck!!
  15. YAYYY YOU!!!! Way to go Cathy!!! That is AWESOME!!! I am not the person to say this since I am photo challenged, BUT POST PICS I LOVE TO LOOK!!
  16. Thanks everyone for your sympathy and suggestions. You are correct food is staying down and I had already decided to go on liquids for a few days. I brought lobster bisque with me to work today! Thanks AGAIN!!! I knew you would have the answer!
  17. Hi All need a little help please, sorry to write another post about a possible slipped band or stretched pouch, but I am a little worried because of things I have read previously on the board. So here is what happened, I went to a wedding over the weekend, old friend/roommate/sorority sister from college, (25 years ago) but we partied like were still in school. One thing led to another and we started doing shots of tequilla and before I knew it I was up puking most of the night, which leads to my concern....DID I RUIN MY BAND??? I know we are not supposed to throw-up but something was coming up and out of my stomach. I did not over indulge with food at the wedding, just the tequilla and vodka. Please don't preach to me about the evils of doing this with the band, I know it was a big mistake and trust me I barely drink so this is not a recurring pattern just a once in a decade kind of thing! My band doesn't feel weird or anything but I am just worried because I know I shouldn't have done this. Are there any signs/symptoms I can/should look for?
  18. Hi Trav, I am dating a bit since my surgery. I started around July this past summer. I would say try to avoid a "meal" as a first date because it is hard and if you have to PB makes it tough. On my first, first date since surgery, I did have to PB and had to leave the table quickly a couple times. Kind of embarassing and of course since I didn't finish my food the guy thought I was feeling sick and felt bad for me. DID NOT SAY A WORD ABOUT MY SURGERY. He did ask me out again though, so must not have been as awful as I thought it was. Later this summer I tried "speed dating" which was pretty fun and not nearly as awkward as I expected. I had a couple matches from that but never met up with them because in the interim I started dating someone else more regularly and wasn't really interested in juggling a few guys. Just don't have time for that. The guy I started dating knows I had the surgery because he was a friend of a neighbor and she told him I was having/had the surgery, not sure why she told him except to maybe gossip about me or something, but his response to her was "Why? She doesn't need it." In the end it has made it easier since he knew already and it has made me a cheap date since I typically only order soup or an appetizer if we eat out. Best suggestion for when your ready, try to find "activity" based dates instead of "food/drinking" based dates. Like go hiking or visit a museum or something instead of doing dinner. Hope that helps.
  19. I have not tried the "papaya enzymes" but would this be a time when you would want to use them?
  20. Congrats on your Surgery Trav! Best wishes for much success in your journey!! YOU WILL DO GREAT
  21. WOW Bigdaddy that is great. Must feel great to know you will be able to set a New Year's Resolution and actually stick with it and achieve it! Congrats on your decision.
  22. That is GREAT NEWS!!! Keep up the good work!!!! Congrats and ENJOY!!
