  1. For mother's day I treated myself to an "Aerogarden". Over the summer I have been growing mixed leaf lettuces and am loving that I can cut fresh lettuce just about any time, all year round for a fresh salad. Anyone else using this?
  2. the room is empty. come chat! I am bored out of my mind!
  3. Terrific with a capital T!!!!
  4. YAYYYYY Paula!!! If we keep doing what we are supposed to, the stubborn stuff is bound to drop off!
  5. Stormy go to the social security admin website, just google it and they have a booklet in pdf form you can download and print. It will answer all your questions and Julie is right, it won't make your mom lose her ss money. It may require that you step up as representative payee on your mom's behalf.
  6. Social Security Admin will be good to work with. The type of account we are discussing sounds like a "representative payee" and the person acting as the representative must keep a paper trail showing how the money was spent. Social Security can ask/require the individual to provide documentation at any time. See this all the time as I work in financial institution. Typically the rep payee shows up paniced because they have no records and have spent all the money.
  7. Ramona it was DELISH!!! and I refuse to feel guilty about it!! It is 9:10 PM and I am at 18,749 for the day and taking off my pedometer! Have a happy Friday. TGIF!!
  8. I do! I take a commuter bus most of the way, but get off 4 miles from my office and walk the rest of the way in. Today however, I needed to pick up an ice cream cake for an office celebration and ended up walking about 2.5 miles to maggie moos, which was CLOSED when I got there. So I knocked and begged and they let me buy the cake and then I took a CAB back to the office. Doing over 12k this early today was entirely a mistake! But I figured I could have a slice of the cake. It was YUMMY
  9. It is 1:10 PM and I am at 12,716 for the day so far.
  10. Does this list have the protein for the foods? I couldn't seem to find it listed.
  11. WOW Michelle!!!! Way to go. I so wish I had been diligent like you in tracking this progress with photographs! Keep up the great work!!
  12. It is so important to some how find 1HOUR a day for exercise! No excuses. the best way is to find a way to fit it into your schedule on a regular basis and to make it a PRIORITY!! I started this about 14 years ago, when after I gave birth I always complained I was too tired, no time etc...every excuse in the book, but you know, somehow I always knew what was happening on TV, so clearly I had some time. I bought a treadmill and started walking. My goal was to just walk through 1 half hour show, didn't matter how fast I went, I just had to move for the 30 minutes. Gradually I built and now I walk about 5 miles almost daily. It has gotten so that I feel lousy if I miss my exercise. Find a way to DO THIS! You won't regret it!
  13. I guess getting the band is like having a baby, you immediately forget all the pain when you experience the joy of the weightloss!
  14. I finished at 22,179 yesterday.
  15. I started bringing a package of turkey bacon to the office with me. I am able to microwave 3 slices in the morning for breakfast. It is high in protein, low carb and low cal. about 100 calories for 3 slices. The microwave cooks it crispy even. This has been incredibly convenient!!
  16. Oh and I forgot. You can also track your excersise on fitday too.
  17. I use Fitday.com too and I LOVE IT! I find it helps keep me honest.
  18. Honestly....I think this whole topic is best handled with a smile and a nod AND then just think how SWEET it will feel when you keep getting thinner and thinner AND she has to watch and get jealouser and jealouser. No one in my office knows about my surgery, but my weight loss is really starting to show and everyone is asking me how I am doing it? What is my secret? I just tell them I keep eating soup. I don't think you can get fat eating soup. Have you ever heard of anyone saying "I gained weight eating soup"?
  19. Broke?? I think you wore it out Ramona!!!
  20. Time to get this topic back to the top of the list. I forgot my pedometer yesterday. WAAAHHH But I have it today! YEAHHHHH It is 9:35 AM and I am at 8542 so far for the day. See if you can keep up!
  21. Hey Michelle, your post about eating at "On the Border" got to me. Mexican food is my biggest weakness. I think my fill level is fine and I have restriction. For example, yesterday I went for lunch to Olive Garden and PBed on less than a 1/2 cup of minestrone soup. Later that night, we went for Mexican and I ate just fine, no problems. The chips and salsa went down great, nachos down great and my tostada down great. For some reason, I just don't have problems with Mexican food. I have a theory, especially about the chips, is it because they are fried? processed? I think that kind of food goes down easier. Do you think this is possible?
  22. Good News! Congrats Cathy! Hope you never find it again!!
  23. WOW Erin GREAT! Now if only you could bottle that "booty be gone" as a spray, you could be a BIZZILIONAIRE!!!
  24. I just heard that song on the radio earlier today and was singing (badly!) at the top of my lungs. You are right Paula, it is a beautiful song, with beautiful thoughts behind it.
