  2. I am so happy for all of us. I hope the one's who are thinking about it see that it does work. Also I hope our new girls that just had it done can have some motavation to get thru those first few weeks. I think if you are positive for yourself and others you get blessed and things just keep going that way. a positve attitude is very powerful.
  3. That is an awsome feeling when you can see your work making progress!!!!!
  4. Well I cleaned out my closet and drawers today. I have done it a couple of times over the years. I always have a few pieces I hold on to because I love them so much and hope to fit into them one day. Guess what...Today was that day. One was a dress and it looked real good. The belt was broken but I will buy a new one. The others were fancy nighties my husband had bought for me from Victoria Secretes. Well they were a size large and I put them on to see how much longer it would take for me to wear them and they fit. My hasband was very impressed and MOTIVATED. We had a great afternoon. I felt like a million bucks today. That was my non scale victory. (NSV) Also I carried in a 25 pound bag of dog food and my husband said "ya know that is how much weight you have lost." I said"plus a 5 pound bag of sugar" What a great day. We ended the day by taking the kids to a mexican restraunt for dinner. I have not been to one since before surgery. I could tell right away the chips were not going to work well so I only had about 3 and I did not find the food all that great. So I only had a couple of bites. I worked myself up for this great food and walked out thinking it was a hugh disapointment. My taste buds have changed I guess. I do not desire that food anymore. I guess that's another NSV!!!!
  5. My only regret is I would have done it sooner. Congrats on your date being set. I remember how excited I was to set the date and buy the plane tickect. You are on your way.
  6. I am eager to see what yall sell it for compared to if you had not fixed it up. Happy selling.
  7. It gets better quickly. I had some gas pains but not too much. I found if I drank to much in a short period I would get them worse. Walking helped me most. Slowly drinking warm stuff helped. But you kinda have to figure out what works for you. Give the gas a couple of days.
  8. It took me 2 fills to feel a difference. Although it is different for everyone. It is easy. Where are you getting your fill?
  9. I just remembered that I felt that way too. But it was because my stomach was so empty. Make sure you are drinking your broths and stuff. I ate popscicles alot during thiose first few days. The day I was aloud to have the drinkable yogurt I felt like I ate a turkey dinner. Finally, my tummy had something of substance in there. Even if it was just for a lilttle bit. You are in the tuff part right now. You will get through it. It is hard but worht it.
  10. I did the exact same thing. I had a real tuff time for about 2 weeks. I am glad I did not get an unfill though. It does go away. I just ate a bite here and there all day long. NO BREAD!!! I found veggies worked and protien shakes for breakfast. I would eat a few bites of fish. It really held be back. I still have restriction but I can eat a little more now. I did lose some pounds during that time though. Take it slow. For some reason I thought fries would work because they are soft, NOT, everytime I ate one I would slime. I do not eat them anymore. Not worth it.
  11. I am so excited for you. It's hard to believe how easy it is until you get there. My tips are, keep up the walking but do get your rest. You might be weaker during the 3 weeks just because you will have a hard time getting in the calories. Do not worry about getting in to many calories right now. However, do not eat solids. They will sabatoge you in the future. I ate tons of popscicles. I also got wonton soup from chinese take-out restraunts but told them no wontons. It was delicious. Great for your frst week and so yummy. Make sure you have your protien shakes ready and yougurt. Congrats.
  12. It is not the easy way out. I think some people go into it with the wrong frame of mind. But if you want a new and better life and you are willing to put some work into it...the band will help you. I would have quit any diet by now and I am going strong. The fills are key. Make sure you budget your fills because without them you are just flying solo. Congrats.
  13. I do that too. I do not over eat but make it a higher calorie day. I had anutritionalist tell me that. Not the one at the OCC though. She said the idea is to keep your body guessing so it does not set itself to work on one set of calories. Also the same thing goes for excercise, you will see faster results if you change up your excercise and keep your body guessing. I have a tendency to get into a routine and do the same thing over and over.
  14. I pigged out the night before surgery like it was the last supper. All the girls that were having it done pigged out with me. It was like a farewell to food. As soon as I had it done I had my game face on and was ready to play ball. It was hard during those 3 weeks just because of the liquid thing. But, I do believe that those 3 weeks helped me when I did start eatting again. It did not take near as much to fill me up. Also I was scared to death to mess it up. My whole mind set is different now. Do I have hard days? Sure I do. But I stay in the fight and I have something helping me to win this time. I am so excited to have this band. I have lost 30 pounds since June 3. There might be some who have lost more and less. But I know without this I never would be where I am today. I can not wait for the next 15 to 20 pounds. You will do great. Stay strong and don't cheat yourself. You deserve it. It feels so good to be sucessful.
  15. I do fight with the same thing from time to time. I deal with it in different ways at different times. Sometimes like a child I try to refocus my attention on something different. I might go do something fun, I might just swicth from choosing cake to a chocolate fiber or protien bar or fudge pop. I try not to completely deprive myself because I am sure to fail if I do. Today I ate a slice of apple pie and a scoop of ice cream. I did not feel bad because I have been good all week and I have excercised. I also made sure it was a very small piece and only one scoop. You know what...I did not even eat it all. Before it would have been 2 slices and 4 scoops of ice cream. I use to love this pie and I found it just so-so today and not worth the calories. This time I just stopped when I felt I had taseted enough to indulge. I also think of food as money. I learned this from weight watchers. Each calorie is a dollar. How do I want to spend my dollars? I only get 1200 to 1500 of them a day. I try to eat 1200 one day and 1400 or 1500 the next. Sometimes on the 3 days I work I might only get 700 to 1000 calories. I try to keep my calorie count different everyday. I have heard that is better and it helps your body not to platue. Who knows if it true or not? Good luck with yours. We all have to find are own way. Maybe these tips will help you. I just remember years ago at a weight watchers meeting the leader had lost over 100 pounds. She said she ate 2 snickers every week. One at the beginnig and one in the middle of the week. She said she could be good the rest of the time because she always knew a snickers was just around the corner. I guess you just have to figure out what works for you.
  16. Also make sure you are doing pure liquids. You do not want to block your band. Also...walk and walk and walk. For some reason that really helps.
  17. I just wanted to let anybody who lives on the gulf know I am thinking about you. I have family in New Orleans and they called in the middle of the night to let us know they had only made it about 50 miles. They are trying to leave. My Uncle said he would try to ride it out but he has children and grand children he is responsible for. Just be safe and know that possesions can be replaced. I am thinking about yall all and hoping the best. Sending up a prayer also.
  18. That whole crossing back was a trip. At that point I wished I had packed less.
  19. I know the feelilng. I am glad if I get more than just a couple of bites. No bread for me though. I do miss that. I have been doing yougurt and protien shakes to make sure I get what I need. Maybe that will help you. I was getting headaches until I did that. Good luck.
  20. It's hard to say how it will effect yall as a marrage. It might bring you closer together because you have a common goal. It is hard to know. I have heard of people breaking up after weight loss. I am sure for many different reasons. I hope it will bring you closer.
  21. You made it to band land. Now you are in the hard part. Some call it banders hell. But do not tell Dr. Ortiz that. He does not like that phrase. Just keep thinking that this is a means to and end. You can do it. Congrats.
  22. It is a great feeling to feel like you belong to the "normal" world. Way to go.
  23. Great job Flan. You had your surgery done the day before me. I remember seeing you in the lobby. I though gee...She is a real pretty girl. I bet you look completely amazing. Congrats.
  24. This is very important. Walk Walk Walk. The more you walk the more you move those gas pains. I walked more the few days after surgery than I did in years. It does help. Glad you are one of us.
