  1. Hey Cathy, I've read that with the band we aren't supposed to take any NSAIDs, like advil. I was an advil girl and had to switch to tylenol. Anyway, any of the anti-inflammatory drugs are to be avoided because they are linked to stomach ulcers and with an itsy bitsy pouch it increases the change of problems. Just an FYI.
  2. I don't get it. I ate on Wednesday this past week (late morning).... was that not the right day for us, Julie??? I counted the day of our surgery, the 4th as day 1 so Tuesday was day 21 and ate on Wednesday. I hope that's what you did, nursey girl. LOL
  3. I think she means she doesn't even want her screen name to be seen at the bottom of each page. And why is this is in recipes, Julie? hahahah Too funny! Did you know that recipes is where most of us hang out? hahaha just kidding
  4. I think you have to log out of your account (at the top, light blue/gray band of color in top area) to browse as anonymous. It doesn't keep track of which threads you've read that way... and you can't leave comments. I saw on another thread that you have fibromyalgia??? My mom has that too (along with diabetes, sleep apnea, etc etc). She has been wondering if losing weight would help with her FM. So you'll have to keep me updated on how you are feeling so I can share that with her.
  5. The enchilada sauce comes in a thinner soup-like can. I think it's near the taco shells. But it is different than salsa... it reminds me of spicy tomato soup. I counted the day OF surgery as day 1. I only had liquids that day and it's a 21 day liquid diet.
  6. I have Myspace... but the lapband is my secret. :secret: So if I had people from the forum on my myspace page, they would leave comments about lap band and I don't care for my other myspace friends to know about it.
  7. You should restart this as a new thread... with a poll! I haven't had a fill yet, but I seem to understand that the first fill is almost like a shocker to your stomach organ. So right out of surgery the goal is to let all the stitches holding everything in get healed. First fill is your stomach can handle getting squeezed, haha. Then from there it's a series of smaller fills as they are needed. And everybody is different on the fill amount, that's why they insist fluro is better. And the "no more room"... I just read that somebody said a 4cc band can actually hold 5cc. Anyway, would make a fun poll if you want. And also good questions to ask at your first fill anyway.
  8. I'll be there for my first fill July 16th, in case your dates are flexible. Julie Burns will be there on the 17th (I think I saw that she posted above too).
  9. At our extended family Memorial Weekend camping extravaganza we did something fun. We took our old favorites and gave them a healthy twist. We were inspired after watching the biggest loser when they did the same thing. For example, I made the cold pasta salad. I made it with wheat noodles, lots of veggies and used a low fat/low cal italian dressing. Everybody brought a different dish... some people even calculated the calories in a serving for us.
  10. Do you want progress pics that show weight loss or pictures that highlight the lovely antibiotic with inscisions right after surgery?
  11. It's easier to eat (drink) more each day because the swelling from surgery is going down. This is why they tell us that we won't be hungry for the first week.
  12. We're going down and back all on the 16th. So we won't see eachother.
  13. I just had some this morning (first day of solids, yay!). I made them with a carton of the liquid egg whites. Maybe the no yolks made them go down easier?
  14. Yay, isn't it fantastic!?!?! I'm going out for dinner tonight for some salmon. I can't believe we finally made it.
  15. I thought it was because of the carbonation and that it can stretch your pouch. How about a room temperature flat beer instead? haha, just kidding.
  16. Thank you so much everybody!!! > I especially love the thought of the small tushie on the beach. Taco Tuesday was also a sucess. Instead of tacos and an alcoholic drink I had a cup of soup and an iced tea. Tomorrow I get solids!!!! :lb21: For some reason I have been craving a hot dog. A hot dog? Gross. I don't know why, but of all things, I can't wait for a hot dog. We set up a pool this last weekend, so tomorrow I'll be eating hot dogs and swimming (maybe at the same time, maybe not, haha) and doing some more research.
  17. I'm at the end of day 20 on the liquid diet and had to go to a pizza place. It's a tradition for the first night of our masters program that we all go out for beer and pizza at the local pizza place. It all smelled SO good... and after all what's one day going to do, so I... ... didn't have any. haha. I brought a special k protein water and sipped that while socializing. I didn't have any pizza or drinks. Tomorrow is 50 cent Taco Tuesday, so wish me continued strength. I'm also in my 3rd (and final) year which means it's crunch time on the thesis/project. I could also use some good thoughts on not getting too stressed out.
  18. I put in the blender for just a few seconds and it was like baby food. It was sort of a weird texture, but still tasted like chili. I could have sucked it through a straw, so I believe it passes the test of being a liquid.
  19. We're working on setting up the "easy set" pool. I can't soak in water until Wednesday, so for now I'll just be cleaning and setting up everything so it's ready for me. Eating solids and swimming in a pool all the same day, I'm excited!
  20. Ok, gotchya. It helps to think about how after the liquid diet we aren't supposed to have liquid calories. I keep thinking, "Oh no! No more Chai Tea Lattes" and then I have one now since there's no more liquid calories when we move onto solids. Today is my husbands b-day and we went out to "the soup bowl" for lunch. So that was fun to have some soup while being at a restaurant. You can do it, just keep thinking about what liquid cals you wont be able to have later and have it now.
  21. 4 weeks on liquids??? I thought you were just banded on the 10th? I was banded on the 4th and am still on liquids (until wednesday). Just wondering where the 4 weeks is coming from if I'm only doing 3 weeks of liquids and was banded almost a week before you. Did you do liquids only on pre-ops? Just curious.
  22. I let the soup soak into them so they were more soggy and then I took little bites and really broke them into tiny pieces before swallowing. Everything went down fine. Even w/out the chips, the soup is still real good.
