  1. ... and here's a link to a similar thread: http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?show...amp;#entry41957
  2. It depends on the size of your stomach organ. They explained to me that they wouldn't know which one I would get (at 272 pounds) until they actually had a look inside. I ended up with the 4cc band. But, people have success with both!!! And a lot of places offer reduced rate slight adjustments within 2 weeks of a fill, so you could get some more added if needed after you try it out.
  3. I was thinking about you today!!! So... how did go?? Kim and I went back together, she went first. She was fine and said it was easy. I was being a big baby and they had to keep reminding me to breathe, haha. It is pretty cool to watch it up on that screen. Did you get some shopping in? We got MORE purses.
  4. Aww.... I saw Kim this weekend and she was asking about you. I've still been reading the forum, just not posting much.... I'm in the final 3 weeks of the masters program so it's kicking into high gear and don't have much leisure time. I'm so excited (and nervous) for the fill.
  5. My fill is Wednesday too. I'm not very good at chewing well, haha. I was visiting family this weekend and they were emphazing "don't forget to chew." So, the meat not going down well is my own fault.
  6. I'd like to know this too!!! I thought it was 8 glasses... but somebody else told me a GALLON of water.
  7. I've tried steak and it didn't go well. Even a plain burger patty feels like I'm chewing gum because it takes so long, haha. However, I have found that meat balls are ok, and they break down easier when chewing. .... and I haven't had a fill yet, haha.
  8. Copy and paste from a post I made in the "fills" section: Here's some info from one of the OCC patient coordinators: 1) What does a non-fluro fill cost? we only do fills under fluoro 2) What does a fill with fluro cost? $100 3) Is transportation to and from the airport to the OCC an additional charge? $199 gets you airport pick-up/return and your fill 4) What does it cost to stay at the lucerna for 1 night if we're there getting a fill? $279 gets you pick-up, fill, hotel & return 5) Do we arrange transportation and lodging or just let Rene know when we plan to be there? just call the clinic at 1-866-376-7849 ext. 2 and they can make those arrangements for you Hope this helps.
  9. I understand what you mean about having Dr. Ortiz checking it out. That peace of mind is priceless. Here's the link to their discussion about the meet: http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?show...l=bandster+meet Closer to the end posts you see when and where they are meeting on July 5th. Hope you can make it, that would be fun!
  10. Sorry to hear that you are struggling. I see that you are in WA too. I've been looking into the Arlington fills. Anyway, you mentioned wanting to do fluro and the Arlington ladies have fluroscopy day on July 18th. Check it out. http://www.northwestfills.com/events.php Just thought I would share that info... great timing, I had just found it. And it *may* be cheaper than going to OCC when travel is figured in. I'm having my first fill back at OCC on July 16th... but fills after that I'm pretty sure right now I will be going with the NW Fill Center. Maybe sometime we'll run into each other! Oh, and the other NW bandsters are getting together sometime this weekend. I don't know the details just because I knew I wouldn't be able to make it due to family obligations, but sure sounded like a fun time to meet others with similar experiences in the flesh.
  11. Hi Kay, that would be great! I'll be with my sister-in-law (we got banded the same day). We aren't bringing any baggage either, but still meeting the OCC transportation at baggage claim. We're arriving SD around 9:50am. What time are you heading back? We told Rene that we'd like to be at the airport at 5pm, just in case we can get on an earlier flight, but our actual flight doesn't leave until 8:30 pm. So we can be flexible if you want to share the van both to and from the clinic. Let me know, I don't mind arranging it with Rene, if you'd like me to.
  12. Hi! I'm getting my first fill on July 16. I printed off this thread because it had a list of tips for a good fill... here's the link: http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?showtopic=4942 Enjoy!
  13. Thanks for sharing! That does sound like great service. I'm going back to OCC for the first fill, but haven't decided on fills after that first one. The prices sound very reasonable! I've been looking around at different centers/doctors that do fills and I have seen very nice things about the Arlington ladies. Can I ask a couple questions? How does the fill work if they don't do fluro? Or do they just make an educated estimate and then that's why a fill within 2 weeks is only $50 to make a small adjustment? Do you happen to know how far in advance an appointment is needed for a fill in their office? Thanks again for sharing your experience!!!
  14. Thank you for the replys. I anxiously await my first fill.
  15. Hey Julie, We're in the same boat. I'm a bottomless pit. Only 2 more weeks until the first fill.
  16. I know we're supposed to do things to make the band work and not expect the band to work for us... but I'm noticing that having a big meal with chicken breast is the only thing that will keep me satisified until the next meal. If I have anything at all processed, including breads, pastas, crackers, etc. I am like a bottomless starving pit. I thought the band was going to help me feel satisified on smaller portions of both processed and unprocessed foods. I thought even if I wanted to eat like a half a sandwich and a small cookie that would be okay. Will this someday be satisfying? I thought that the reason we have to eat protein first is because we will get full quickly. So that's why we don't start off with potato chips for a meal, haha. Is this temporary bandster hell I'm experiencing? Or is chicken breast the only meal that will satisfy me for the rest of life with the band? I'm also not having liquid calories or carbonation. I have all the water I need a day and wait an hour after eating to drink. I've never PB'd. One time I took a bite of a burger and I felt it tighten up as it was passing through the band. So that's the only time I've even noticed I had a band. I could eat and eat and eat at every meal and not get that full feeling. Am I doing something wrong? :lb12: My first fill is July 16. So hopefully that will help.
  17. Thesuse gave a great description. But I can add that I got a sunburn this weekend and I am whining and complaining more from this than the surgery (about 3.5 wks ago).
  18. On the top "bar" of every page, there's "blogs, gallery, calendar, members, search, help." Click on Gallery. It takes you to the choice of members gallery or occ gallery. In the members gallery a lot of people have posted their progress pictures. Check out mama michelle's pics... they are awesome. She bought a goal dress 3 or 4 months out and each month she took pictures so you see her work her way into it. It's so neat! Hope this helps!!!
  19. At 2.5 weeks the port area was still a little tender for me, mainly just getting in and out of a car. Now I'm at 3.5 weeks and don't feel it at all. I think people are all different in the recovery phase. Enjoy the creamy soups!
  20. If you had surgery on June 19th, the 19th was day 1 and you are on liquids for 21 days so the first day you could eat would be July 10th. There's 2 ways to look at it. 1) 21 days of eating only liquids, counting day of surgery as day 1 and then eating the day after the 21st day on liquids 2) you can eat 21 days afterwards if you start counting the day after as day 1 They are both saying the same thing.
  21. Don't worry about the quote button. Just click "reply. Not the Add Reply or Fast Reply. But the "reply next to the quote button you are clicking. Then just type under the stuff that was quoted. It quotes a whole message. Or, keep just want you want by deleting the parts you don't want.
