  1. Here's what I understand (from reading, not experience ) Band slip: You'll suspect something if you're throwing up a lot. (And you can tell at a fluro fill apparently). Port flip: They'll figure it out at a fill (when the needle wont go in because the port is turned around). Pouch expansion: They figure it out watching a fluro fill. ..... not sure if this helps. Sounds like resassurance (or confirmation of a problem) is at the first fill.
  2. Before the band I was a great water drinker! Like 8-10 glasses a day. I've been trying reallllly hard to get in my water, but I haven't been successful. I used to chug the water and now taking sips it takes FOREVER to get down any water. I don't want to drink too much at once and cause some flooding or a drowning or something, hahahahaha. Anybody else have this problem? Any tips? I like the taste of water so I don't need crystal light or special k protein powder. It's just that I can't find time to get it down. My husband keeps joking that I should set alarms in the middle of the night to get up and drink water, haha. AND we can't drink an hour before or after eating? Ahhh! Help! :help:
  3. That is a GREAT dream!!! I keep dreaming that I'm like 8 months pregnant. I think it has to do with the port area still being a little tender and I keep trying to hold my belly when I walk around so I don't jiggle and irritate the port. LOL.
  4. Oh, good! And I'm looking forward to the eye candy!!! I haven't met a doc at OCC that wasen't dreamy (maybe it was those tablets they give you to calm down, hahaha j/k).
  5. I can relate! I'm always used to when people say "what size" at fast food to say "the biggest you have" or "large." Well I went to BR for a peach fruit blast and said "regular" and I only got through like maybe a quarter of it. And that was slowly eating it over like an hours time, haha. I should've said "small," but I'm not used to saying that!
  6. Check the SEX thread... it happens soon for some, hahaha. I think I was on day 5 post-op. Perhaps TMI, LOL.
  7. I scheduled my first fill for July 16th. I'll be getting it done by Dr. Augusta (sp? maybe Ogusta?). Any tips or what to expect? I tried searching the forum about him, but I know I must be spelling the name incorrectly because nothing is coming up. (EDIT: not Augusta or Ogusta, but Acosta) Thanks Donna!
  8. hahahahaha, me too! I'd be eating a meal and trying to think about what sounded good at the next meal. I was following the pre-op, but stalled out on the weight loss. I lost 4 the first week pre-op, 3 the 2nd week pre-op and I've lost 6 this past week since I've been banded. I hope I can continue getting the full feeling. It's SO weird to not think about food all the time. It's my fault the bacon and potato soup riot got started. But I really do only have a couple of spoonfulls of stuff and then pass it off to my husband to finish. I've started noticing that he justs lets me start eating a "meal" and then knows he'll get most of it anyway so he doesn't even dish his own food first anymore, haha.
  9. Does it come back up or do you get the tightness in the chest feeling? I get the tightness feeling so I stop and then I'm not hungry for a loooong time. When were you banded?
  10. You can if you blend it up and add water to it (it's pretty thick). Watering it down makes it so it can pass through a straw and that's the name of the game in weeks 2 and 3. But don't drink anything through a straw b/c it might cause extra gas. Or, get the cambells soup at hand (meant to be drinkable) of the potato creamy soup and it tastes very similar with a lot less calories. I can only get in like an eighth of a cup of soup before I get bored of it. I've been more of a popsicle person.
  11. That's a great that your doc is supportive!!! I'm going to see mine on Monday and not sure what she'll say. She's all about "all natural" so I'm a bit worried about her reaction.
  12. Just wanted to post this so everyone saw the edit. I knew what you were talking about as far as those litte ice creams. So you had like 1 cup of soup and 1 cup of ice cream in a 4 hour period. I've seen posts about post-op dieting mistakes waaaaaay worse than this one. At least you stayed with liquids. Remember you lost 10 pounds in 1 week after surgery... you're doing great, I'm here to support you buddy. > The supportive comments are meant to get you back on the band wagon (haha), not to tell you it's okay and to keep doing it. I know YOU know this, but not others.
  13. The Centrum Chewables multivitamin/multimineral supplement orange flavored are tasty. I got them at Fred Meyer.
  14. hahaha... anyway, I'm sure you're fine, just get back on track. I had an oreo milkshake from jack in the box yesterday. Oops, there I go again... why do I keep mentioning delicious foods? haha
  15. Even if the policy says WLS is excluded, some portions of it may be reimbursed. I just submitted an itemized list (from Rene at OCC) to my insurance asking them to cover the pre-op tests. They are general health tests that are good to get anyway so they might cover them. I've heard of others that have been successful in this request, but it seems to take a few times of submitting it to get it covered.
  16. We have a whole section on testimonials. http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?showforum=13 Do your research. This is a life changing investment that you have to be commited to in order to make it work. Just make sure you make an informed decision. Check out Google and other lap band forums. Everyone spends a period of time researching to make sure it's the right thing for them.
  17. I keep asking my husband if the nacho cheese counts as a liquid.... hahaha! Good question about the stretching later but not now situation, hopefully someone can help us out there. We're going to go to the OCC at least for the first fill... not sure on the later ones.
  18. The creamy soup is delicious!!! And burping feels amazing, haha... even though I slightly feel like I'm suffocating for like a half second before it happens, it's great when the gas escapes. I had read some things about "band slippage" and it looks like you only have to worry about that if you keep throwing up. I'm more worried about stretching out the pouch... I read that can happen when you eat solids too soon... that's what's keeping me from getting a nachos bell grande from Taco Bell. LOL
  19. Oh no! I hope you get to feeling better soon.
  20. You didn't slip your band. The swelling has just gone down from surgery so now you're hungry again. Start counting down the days to the first fill. .... and drinking water or those Fuze low calorie drinks might help subside the hunger.
  21. Are you referring to the itemized list receipt of your surgery? If so, contact Rene. He sent me mine.
