  1. I had my last fill at the grande prairie hospital. Free if you get a requisition from your doctor. You just have to fax it in to radiology. Dr.Jim in radiology does it. Honestly though,I would fly back. I will next time. It just wasnt the same, arent as gental etc. and just not the same. But it is under flouro. You can get flights from calgary on westjet sometimes round trip for about $250
  2. seriously - like I said...my doctor said this is normal for rapid weight loss. I tried biotin and a few other things and nothing helped but time
  3. just wanted to say you are doing great! I am so happy for you! Um- I cant remember my first fill lol - Ill have to wait until I post this to see when it was!! Sorry :S Thats what happens after almost a year! keep up the awesome work!
  4. you look FREAKING amazing! Way to go! Id whistle at u on here but dont know how to spell that lol
  5. GOOD LUCK! I know each individual will be different. I too was too tight and could not get to the occ for an unfil for about I think it was almost 4 months. I was soooooooooo scared! BUT you have no idea how much better you will feel once u get in there and have it looked at. For me he did NOT do a complete unfil. I did have to do liquids and malox for a week GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!
  6. had mine out about 6? years ago now. It was the worst pain I have ever felt and having it removed is amazing because u feel so much better! Its easy peasy
  7. it slows down! I was FREAKING out because I had beautiful thick hair. My doctore assured me it would slow down. Sure enough - it has. I mean I was losing CLUMPS and probably lost about 2/3 of my hair - no kidding. I lost VERY fast and my doctor said that is normal for rapid weight loss. Once your body gets used to it - it slows down. I still lose more than I did pre-band, but it is significantly better and have noticed a lot of regrowth
  8. I agree - probably a bit too tight. Try the smaller bites and chewing more. If all you are getting is a couple of spoon fulls though, that is not enough. One thing, I can NOT eat those noodles- OMG they almost kill me now lol
  9. WARNING *************DO NOT DO IT*************** I am speaking from experience. Three times I had a sip when stuck - it was reflex, I didnt even think about it...well it was HELL. I thought I was going to choke to death! It was horrible, I couldnt take in or let out a breath until it all came up. Seriously, dont do it
  10. I am in Alberta. Yup-definatly going to tj for anything further! I am sore today!
  11. had a little fill today - got it done locally. I wont do that again, besides the hot doctor that did it, it sucked. They were more rough, a little rude about having it done in mexico and my port area hurts tonite. But at least I have restriction again YIPPIE I will only do fills/unfills anything I need (unless emerg) in TJ
  12. bwhwhaha that is awesome! Great job!
  13. Things have not been easy for me with this band. But without it - I would not be a size 6! I too wish I would have done it 10 years sooner!
  14. lipo - thats how I lost my midsection fat....I kept shrinking, except that part!
  15. came to check on this post - and yup the reese peanut butter cups used to be my down fall - I havent been craving these things as much though since I had an unfil. weird my fav is - in the magic bullet... 1 scoop chocolately royal slim fast YUM some Peanut Butter 1 cup 1% milk and some ice cubes Seriously - I have lived off that since my surgery and swear it was the reason for my of my success (when not too tight) I know we are supposed to stay off liquids, but the mornings just dont work for me - so this is what I live off...and I am LUCKY if I have time at work to pee, so I have slim fast and milk - its better than nothing.
  16. good luck - Im a crazy canadian too but not the one u r lookin for lol....just wanted to bump ur post so maybe she will read it
  17. The doctor that does them said as long as I get an order from my family doctor I dont have to pay - so Alberta Health Care pays it. But I know Ontarios health plan is different. I lost a bit before the surgery, a lot in the liquid phase and to be honest I did a lot more liquids due to being too tight AND my biggest was that I could not eat bread or hardly ever eat pastas cuz of the tightness. Sorry I cant be more help!
  18. well I guess I was hearing things then. So - I will be going close to home for a little fill I only want them to put up to .4 in though - if that!
  19. Debbie - glad to see you are doing good! (I met Debbie in the OCC van on her way to be banded as I was getting an unfill)
  20. hmmm -anyone else here what I heard...maybe I was dreaming lol maybe I should just go here - like I said, its free...except gas for the 2 hr drive there and the 2 hr drive back.
  21. where are u in Canada? I am in Alberta. It is more than $16000. I was quoted 20-25K and then (well I wouldnt qualify here either) but would have had to pay for hotel and flights on top of that. Feel free to pm me I went to TJ for surgery and fills/unfills...and PS....and have been there 6 times total.
  22. okay - so I replied to the thread about fills...but now I am curious... I always go to the OCC for fills and unfills because I was scared if I went else where and I have something happen later Id be screwed. Does it make a difference? I just thought if u went to the OCC for all of it and something happened - they would fix the band free. But if u went elsewhere u would have to pay to have it fixed. Anyone know the answer?????? It would be FREE for me to do fills/unfills here (well except gas for the 2 hour drive)- but I can do that when I am already going there.
  23. ok - am I wrong on this. I was under the impression that if u recieved all fills/unfills and no one else touched ur band - if something went wrong the OCC would basically fix it free. So - I have been flying back and forth. I can get fills etc free about a 2 hr drive from where I live. It takes me 5 hrs to drive then about 6 hours of flying one way to San Diego...so it is time consuming and costly. BUT I was so worried if I did the fills etc here if something happenend I would be screwed. Id really like another little fill - but CAN NOT go back to the OCC for a long time...possibly months and months - but if I go here and anything happens....
  24. OMG I wish I had that choice. TT was VERY painful and whatever the cost lol - get it!
