  1. this is a very normal common stall. They happen all the time and will happen again with weight loss surgery. There are many other forums that you can just google with this topic. but the 3 week/4 week post op one is VERY common I had it 3 weeks post op and it lasted almost 2 weeks.
  2. It is going well but I can say I have days where it seems I am just tight. Last night I made up my little 6 inch plate with chicken, green beans, and a little potatos and I was able to eat it all and that is the first time that has happened. I can also say I can't do cold or iced liquids my sleeve just doesn't like them it is like it contracts as soon as the liquid geting in my Tinny tummy. Not a good feeling.
  3. tootsie_lou I never even thought of that good post. I can remeber when I was pregnent and my belly was all streached out and pulling up my thighs were smaller. makes a lot of sense to me.
  4. Lori I am now 7 weeks out and just this past week have been able to take larger sips. Some days it is just like the first few weeks tho. I have started to monitor my salt intake as I think this might have something to do with my swelling.
  5. I haven't but I want to comment on I think it is very sad he focused on an area that you are fine with and didn't consult and talk to you ONLY for what you wanted. I find that very odd either he is just trying to sell tummy tucks or that is what he feel comfortable with most. I have been on a diffren message board, and they have a whole HUGE section on mexico plastic surgons and even ones in the states. (I was suprised one surgen posted rates and they were not much cheaper than here in the states if insurance doesn't cover it)
  6. How was flying home that soon? Also how did you feel going back to the hotel on Saturday and not having any care of Sunday?
  7. I am 16 days post op and the back pain is really bad. Has anyone else experanced this. I had back pain the week of surgery but them it went away for 5 days and now it is back and it hurts to even stand from sitting. It is like I can't unbend. Mostly it is my lower back where as before it was my mid to upper back. ( I just thought that was due to the gas) This pain is diffrent like I said it is like I get stuck while trying to straighten up after sitting. Or if I sit more than 15 mins it starts to hurt too.
  8. People can email me for my experience. But maybe I went into it thinking something else as everyone posted on her it was better than health care they have received in the states. My wait times were just like ER wait times in the states. Also there were a few other things that I observed that would NEVER happen in the states. I am a very observant person and can look past the pretty office. Not saying I was not happy I went as I am happy I had VGS surgery. I just observed in what I would call Triage (where Ivs are done, where drains are taken out) they have chocolate brown covers on the beds and I did notice a fairly large wet spot on it about 4x3 inches. The wet spots are not easy to see but I was looking as I know what was in my drain bag thing EWWW I just steered clear from that side of the bed. I know I should have said something but I was sort take by surprise. AND I really wanted my drain out after waiting 1hr and 40 mins in the waiting room and I was the last person to get mine out. (Left hotel at 11:20 (when they wanted us for the van) clinic wanted us there at noon, boarder van medical transport arrived to pick us up at the clinic at 2pm) They stated our barium swallow test at 1:25 for 3 of us and stated our drains at 1:40. Then we were headed for the boarder. Also I waited at the airport for the van for 3 hours. Then we had to drive around looking for everyone that had been there for almost as long as I had been. I arrived at the airport at 5:20 and arrived the hotel at 11PM. That is one thing that happened while I was there out of the 4 days.
  9. Now time will tell. I am so far happy with my sleeve and glad I had the surgery. I wish I could say that I had a outstanding experance but it was just OK. Was hoping it was great to go back for some plastic surgery. I will still be checking the board and reading others post. Also updating my progress. Feel free to ask me any questions either email or message me on here.
  10. I got my sleeve done in monday and tere is a lady in her 60s getting bank to sleeve revision she might even be in her late 60's. She had her band placed 2 years ago with Dr Ortiz and had it removed in the states due to meidacal reasons.
  11. One more week and then I will have a baby stomach.

  12. I haven't had surgery yet but I watched the board last spring and there was almost something new every day and now it is SLOW. I don't know what happened but I do know some post were being deleted and some people were not happy about that.
  13. I am intrested in what others have to say to your questions also. I had a hard time finding a protein powder that I could have beaucse I am allergic to malt and it is a ton of things as (maltodextrin) I did find that Knorr brand makes a new thing called homestyle stock you can look it up on line and I bought some of those from the store for when I travel and for when I get home ( I am going to explain to TSA that I need it.) I don't if you booked your travel but it might help if you were stay 1 day in the states and take a suitcase back full of stuff. like protein powders and anything else you can think of that you can't get there. ( I know some people like Luna bars once they can eat foods and have a half of one with other small items for a meal.)

I am very happy I bought all of the vitamins there they taste great and are chewable.
  15. Ok so I know all of us have probably had some moments of why in the heck did you think this was a good idea for a gift for me. Here are some of mine. My birthday is today and we (my family kids and husband) celebrated with his family on Sunday. His mom made me a birthday dinner per my request (chicken veggies and baked potato) I will be starting my pre op diet soon THEY DO NOT KNOW I AM GETTING THE SURGERY. So what dose she get me for my birthday what every over weight person trying to diet wants a home made loaf of bread. UGH. This isn't the first time she has given me food for a gift. These are past food items gifts. Christmas of 2009 she bought me 2 new Pyrex pie pans and one was filled with home made cinnamon rolls. Christmas of 2007 I got a 9x13 Pyrex pan filled with the most comical thing of all pumpkin pie. Ok so yes I am over weight but I as diagnosed with PCOS in Feb 2007 and at that time gave up bread and as most refined white flour, sugar make things then. I do have my moments when I eat those things but I am not known for chowing down on them. Thanks for listening to my funny vent. Please share if you have any stories too. I am sure I am not the only person that this had happened too. P.S My step father in-law was so upset and mortified I got a gift sent to me via UPS with a note saying I could trade my gift for a loaf of bread. LOL it made my day and was the sweatiest thing anyone has done for me in a LONG TIME.
  16. I knew I would have to walk across the boarder from another post a read about packing light and with a suitcase with wheels. I just have never hear anyone on here talking about what they told customs as I know they always ask why you are going to Mexico and then when you go back into the states they want to know why you were in Mexico. LOL I am staying at the Marriott. I also plan on doing a lot of walking (as much as I can) I know how much it helps. I was thinking about bringin a laptop I thought there were a few English tv stations but I am sure they are not the "good" stations. I will also bring my kindle as I like to read a lot and so does the person that is comming with me.
  17. Thank you very much PadresGrrl. I do have someone to go with me now she is trying to get her passport rushed so I hope it comes in time. I am a little nervous catching my flight home at 6pm with crossing the boarder but I hope to just leave plenty of time.
  18. I would email the center they will provide you will all the information you want and request in a very timely manner!
  19. Thank you very much I have always been asked to stat my business and where are you going? Then on the way back in to the US asked reason for travel....etc
  20. I am scheduled and think that I will be going alone. I have some questions about boarder crossing. About how long does it take to cross back to US on average? I will be comming back to the US on a Thursday after 3pm? Also what do you tell them when you are crossing back that you went for surgery? How does that go? I am sure they have a lot of poeple that cross for surgery but I didn't know how that goes with your precribed medications?
  21. Scheduled for sleeve March 13th and very excited but nervous.

  22. I am curious as to if you do a food journal and also how much refined and process food do you eat? I just read a very eye opening book called the perfect 10 deit that talk alot about how processed food effectes our body and hormones. As hormones control a large porton of our bodies having to deal with weight gain/loss, hormones control our insulin levels and hunger levels.
  23. as far as I know everyone has to do the preop diet. The OCC can email you the diet. I was offered 3 choices but I don't know if every is offered that. I think the major reason is your liver stores Fat when having laparoscopic surgery it is better to decrease the size of the liver to navigate the belly better as your liver is right next/above your stomach.
  24. I just read an awsome book The perfect 10 diet, I was shocked and it was very eye opening about low fat, fat free, margarineetc products that had been forced upon us as healthy even by the americna heart association. It was a very good read. I have not had weight loss surgery but have been thinking about it I also have PCOS that doesn't help with my journey with weight loss
  25. How do you get a price quote for Plastic surgery at the OCC do you just email Carolyn or is there someone else for the Plastic surgery side? Thanks for any and all information you can provide. Glad your surgery was smooth and it could be on you and you look great.
