I live in Maryville, TN and I am excited about the surgery. I am nervous, especially after reading some of the posts on this site. I will do my best to follow the program and make sure that I exercise. I had to take out a second on my house to pay for this, since my insurance won't pay. I have enough money for 2 fills and hopefully I will be able to save enough for the rest of them. I will be reading a lot, and I am grateful that this is here so I can avoid some of the situations brought up here. I hope to write a cook book for bandsters, I did buy one from amazon.com along with Dr. Ortiz's book, which I should be getting in a few days. Dr. Ortiz's book is awesome; I read it cover to cover and it's FULL of those little sticky arrows where I read something I wanted to remember. The best advice I can give right now is to surround yourself with positive support. I'd be scared out of my mind right now but both my parents are coming down with me to support me which helps alot. As I'm writing this I'm waiting for my webserver to reinstall itself after the hard drive died. *sigh* A pleasant week off is not far away . . . . She is starting the bandster process with a surgeon in Tulsa. Her insurance covers WLS and she is waiting to hear if they will approve her surgery. Thanks, bbuck I used to live in Mt. Vernon, like my whole life! We just moved here, almost a yr ago. Oct. 1 will be a yr. I miss WA so much. I am having to deal wiht the surgery and the move both, but I think it will be ok, new place to live and a new life. Sorry we won't be there at the same time but I wish you well and hope things go well. Let me know how you do and how things are down there. Just wanted to let you know to check out the Washington bandsters log. We will be meeting for dinner on October 8th at Bahama Breeze At 5:00 in Southcenter (it is a Sunday) if you might be interested. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you brought some liquids. Kind of ironic isn't it that 2 of us are leaving from Seatac to the same place on the same day. I am flying on Alaska, however. I get into San Diego at 12:38 PM (leave at 10AM). What time do you get in. There's probably a good possibility that they'll pick us up at the airport around the same time and we'll ride to Tijauna together. What time is your flight? mommyrkr Posted September 22, 2006 Report Share Posted September 22, 2006 Barbara, I think she was probably more impressed with my research than progress, as it has only been 3 1/2 weeks since my surgery. But I am very excited to have a lapband buddy so close to me. I haven't missed food yet. I still eat what I want, if I am craving something, I just don't need the quantity. And I know I need a fill. For example, I know snickers candy bars are so bad for you, but I have craved one during the whole liquid diet. I bought the snack size bars, you know, Halloween candy, adn I had one, and was fine, I was done. That would never happen before, I would eat half the bag before I felt like I had enough. Started a medically liquid diet early as I have a high BMI and am right on course to lose 5% bodyweight before arrival. Excited about gettong healthy. Anyone else for middle October?
