  1. Thanks Jann, I did forget to mention that even though I am so disappointed, I do respect this doctor. It shows he is not out to make a buck, he cares about what is best for the patient. I am getting married in April and going on a cruise. I was sooo looking forward to wearing a tight wedding dress and looking smashing in it and being able to wear a swim suit,,,,,,,,,,,but..............guess things will go on, but no way will I be in a swim suit.
  2. I'm confused about the exchange amount. I thought we were quoted an amount based on american money. Can you clarify this for me? Also congrats on your upcoming surgery. Best thing I ever did for myself
  3. I went for my consult with the plastic surgeon and I am so down and disappointed. I have read alot on here and thought, it may be time to explore my options. The surgeon I seen told me that he had just got back from a conference and one of the subjects was weight loss surgery and plastic surgery. He said that they are reccommending that people wait 1 year after surgery before considering a tummy tuck or etc. Also said a person needs to be at a steady weight for about 5-6 months. He said that if he did my surgery in Dec as I wanted, then when I lost more weight (I only have 35 to go right now) my skin would not be tight and I would possibly have to have surgery again. Also said that some people will get to their "goal" weight, then may lose more without trying. I was so pumped up about all this and I just feel like someone stuck a needle in my balloon. If I had known all this I would never have taken the day off of work and paid the money for the consult.
  4. I don't think she has a 10cc band. I currently have 3.5cc in my band and am going for a fill tomorrow. The doctor told me these band can actually hold more than 4cc. It took me getting to 3.5 cc to finally have restriction, but after losing another 10 pounds or so, I don't have the restriction anymore. She told me the tightness of the band depends on the fat around the stomach. I dieted 6 months before my band and lost 30 pounds, not sure if that made a difference or not.
  5. Good response clynn I think this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. yes the band helps with the eating, but we still have to eat the right foods and exercise our asses off!!!!!!
  6. WOW, I am sooo sorry for what you have gone through. You are a very very very strong person. It is alot of responsiblity to take on both of their care. If they are disabled and etc, then maybe SRS could step in and they could go to a nursing home. It is so much for 1 person to try to do. My heart goes out to you. Call SRS and just see what they say. Hang in there and I pray things get better for you, YOU deserve the best!!!
  7. Congrats and welcome to the new you.
  8. Trudy, Be patient, you are doing fine. I did not lose any weight starting at week 4-9. I was so upset. I did lose alittle in inches though, so maybe that is the case for you also. Don't be so hard on yourself. Once you get a good fill and have restriction, things will go alittle better. I think I average about 6 to 6 1/2 pounds a month, which is not much, but that is how the band is suppose to work. Hang in there, things will get better.
  9. I'm with Natalie, I still eat taco's. BUT>>>>>>>>>>> I usually cannot eat a whole one. Some days things will go down easily and other days it won't. Every day is different. I will tell you though, If you are having a stressful day, be careful, that really seems to tighten my band. YOu will do great and will be happy with your decision. Health, kids, hubby and of course sexy body is all worth it. It takes time and alot of learning. Also be very careful of liquid calories once you are on solids. I never realized how many calories are in the things we drink. There is a drink (Snapple kiwi pear) that only has 20 calories and 2 grams of sugar. It is suppose to help with metabolism and is an awesome drink. Best of luck with your upcoming surgery!!!!
  10. When I fill restriction, I will notice a lump in my chest or my nose will start running, or a hicup or my mouth starts to water. I don't always feel full, but I know if I eat more, things will not be good
  11. I feel for you Julie. I've been there myself. After my 3rd adn 4th fills, I could not keep fluid down, but then it got bette. Now with my 4th fill (I have a total of 3.5cc in a 4cc band), it is alittle weird. Most mornings I have a hard time eating yogurt and granola. It will usually take me about 2 hours to get it all down. Lunch is usually tough, but by supper time I do fine. Sometimes I feel like I don't get full, which is really strange to me. I thought about an unfill, but............at night things are so different. Here it is 4:00pm today and I am finally able to eat alittle. BE CAREFUL, I know how scarry it is and band slippage is ALWAYS a concern. Keep us posted on your progress. Hey Stormy, When I was at OCC they said some people may not need a fill for 6 months or more. So maybe you will do fine without a fill. Everyone is soo different. Best of luck!
  12. I was told by my doctor that everytime you lose 10 pounds, your body and hormones reset. I found this out the hard way also. March 13th I found out I was pregnant. I was already scheduled for surgery on 4-3-08 and had already paid my money. I was a mess. I had been dating the same guy for about 8 years and only used birth control half of that time and never got pregnant. After I lost 35 pounds (before surgery) boom.............I was pregnant, so it really does happen.
  13. I still get the lump quite abit, especially with breakfast and lunch. Supper seems to be better.
  14. I got one also. No problem. I think it would be best if you called, then you have them fax it to you
  15. Don't worry jayhawk chick, When I lost 35 pounds my boobs stayed the same cup size, now that I have lost 70, Well I don't have much boob left. I had a reduction about 14 years ago and now I'm thinking I may need some back. There is a great surgeon in Lawrence Kansas that I have checked into. If you want any info, just message me and I will let you know.
  16. Mine used to be just to the left and about 1 inch below my incision. After they had to move my port, it is right at my waist line, about 4-5 inches below my incision
  17. Dr. Martinez had to reopen my incision (the larger one) and go in and move the port further down. He said they usually only put about 4 sutures in it and he did either 5 or 6 in mine, cant remember which. So I have no addition scars, but the scar tissue is alittle thicker. My port is near my waist band area. He did a wonderful job! I love Dr. Martinez and Dr. Romero
  18. I was told by I think Dr. Romero that eating ice chips or a pop cycle was ok. That is what I usually do. You are lucky if you have restriction. It has it's pro's and con's. I have 3.5 cc and I have alot of restriction now. Usually after 3-4 bites I am done as I will get that lump feeling in my chest. I love it though, so nice to have restriction.
  19. Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss. You should be very proud of yourself. You mentioned that you never had restriction. How much do you have in your band. I have 3.5cc and most days I have great restriction and some days its ok restriction. The chest pain is not much fun and sometimes it only takes 1-2 bites before the chest pain. Other days, I can eat 1 cup full and be fine. The band is very finicky and I never know if I will be able to eat or not. I will admit, stress plays a big role. I never believed it until I experienced it. WOW it was aweful. Again, great job on the weight loss, I hope to join you soon in your victory!
  20. I watched it and loved it. Was amazed how much they all lost in just 1 week..........WOW. I would love to go on that show, but I am sure now that I am under 200 they would never consider me. I'm not sure yet which one is my favorite. I felt sorry for the yellow team, that poor girl and her dad. I kind of liked the red team, but I know things can change.
  21. Is that offer open to all Pammie? I am really considering coming to Dr. Nyte. He seems very cool and was great about answering questions.
  22. Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Martinez both did my initial surgery. When my port flipped, it was Dr. Martinez that did that surgery and I was very pleased. He is a wonderful doctor also. You will be in good hands.

    Hurricane IKE

Glad you and your family are fine. It looks horrible on TV, worse than a tornato. Best of luck to you all
  24. I am so sorry to hear of your frustration mail mom. I know how you feel. Unfortunately it took me 3 fills to reach restriction. I have since had another fill. I agree with the rest, call around to the surgeons in your area and ask if they do the lap band, if so , most of them will do fills too. I know it is very expensive to fly back to OCC for fills, even though they are the best. I pay 150 for each of my fills, so give it a try. Best of luck
  25. Dr Nyte, I am from Kansas and have considered coming there after seeing pammie's pics. You did a wonderful job on her. (You look great pammie). Anyways, I wondered what kind of follow up would be needed and how long I would have to stay there? Is there anyway to find out the total hospital charges also? I am looking to have a tummy tuck and would like lipo on butt and thighs and skin taken off of my upper thighs. Also would need the girls moved back up. I had a reduction mammoplasty done 15 years ago, and the girls need some work, (that doctor did not do a very good job). Thank you for any help you can offer. Thank you pammie and Lisa for introducing Dr. Nyte to the forum.
