  1. Ok, I'm with mom12. I have 3.5cc in my band. My doctor also told me that the band will hold more than 4cc. I think the part about the last 30 pounds being more difficult is just common sense. The closer you get, the harder it is, however, I believe the band will continue to help, but exercise is also very important. Good luck and congrats on your weight loss Kim.
  2. What kind of knee surgery did you have to have? Good luck. I have had 5 of them and am doing it again in Jan. then next step is a new knee.
  3. I agree with Julie and Jessica It should be your highest/decision weight, but as Jessica said, every pound is a success, so do what makes you feel best, nobody is going to judge you, we are all happy for eachother.
  4. I have had 4 fills in my 4cc band. I currently have a total of 3.5cc. I am finally at my sweet spot. However, it seems like some days I can eat ok and other days I can't eat at all. The band is very touchy. Stress will also make your band tighter, I learned this the hard way. Good luck with your restriction.
  5. OMG, that is too funny. I'm right there with you. If you figure out how to gain inches, let me know, ha ha ha.
  6. I think everything your are feeling is normal. Most of us have felt the same way. I was very very very excited, then the day before surgery, the nerves kicked in. I am so glad I had the surgery and would do it again if I had to. Its the best decision I have ever made. Also as you know, there are wonderful people on the forum that is always here to encourage, help and listen. Take advantage of it. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!
  7. Welcome back. You are not alone. I had a tough time losing weight before I was able to get a fill. I had my banding done in April, then in May had to have my port moved due to it flipping, so that was a set back. I went about 4 weeks with no weight loss, but no gain either. I stopped eating even though I was hungry. You will do great. It is sooo nice to have restriction. I wish you the best with your weight loss.
  8. Your port is actually down from your biggest scar and to the left. You may be feeling some scar tissue. I still have occ pain on and near my scar when I bend over or after I have just eaten. I believe this to be normal. You will be surprised at how they can find the port. they know about where to look for it. I know my doctor had me lay flat and put the head of the bed down and that helped the port come to surface. Now, it is much easier for her to find it as it is alot closer to the skin. things will be fine, don't sweat it. Good LUck
  9. I still have 40 pounds to go, but would like to start thinking about getting rid of this apron. Thanks dolittle and Linda, hopefully we can find out how things went for Kelfynn and Depris.
  10. I remember a couple of people that were going to go to cosmed for a tummy tuck and consult and were going to let us know what they found out. Just wondering if they went. I would love to hear how it went and how you are doing. Also wondering about cost. If you went to tijuana cosmed, let us know
  11. Hey Dawn, Its Tanya. So was the surgery everything we told you it would be. Sorry you are having port pain, but it will go away. Wasn't it awesome there?? Keep in touch with your progress and call anytime you need anything, support or whatever.
  12. I watched the show also. It is so sad how these people have to live. It would be tough to have to rely on people taking care of you, not being able to walk or unable to do anything yourself. I can't imagine. I am sooo thankful I got the band. It is soooo very true how discriminated over weight people are. I am still over weight, but at least the scale is going down and I am feeling better about myself. I wish medical treatment for obesity was alittle more reasonable or ins would pay for it. My health insurance will pay for alcohol addiction, smoking addiction, but will not pay for weight loss. It's a bunch of crap. I am so thankful I found a way to pay for my band, it is the best thing I have every done for myself.
  13. Welcome Tara What a great birthday gift you are giving yourself. The band is wonderful. I wish you the best of luck with your surgery and your NEW life.
  14. It took me 4 fills to hit the sweet spot. I am like dontondan, Some days I can eat and then there are some days I cant seem to eat anything without something getting stuck. Its pretty strange, but I still love my band
  15. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! THAT IS AWESOME. I am very happy for you. It gives the rest of us something to look forward to. Best Wishes and enjoy the new you!!
  16. Sugar will not hurt the band, but it is not going to help with the weight loss. Alot of people get alot of calories from liquids and etc. Sugarfree is ALWAYS better for weight loss.
  17. When I tell people I had surgery in Mexico, their first comment is " oh my god". Well, I felt very safe and the care there was excellent. I think they are the best doctors! I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had to. I have no regrets. Diet and exercise is great, but.................I have done this routine over and over and over. I would lose weight, then would eventually gain it back and alittle additional. The lap band is a change in life. It is a life long tool. It not only helps you take off the weight, but helps you keep it off. I would recommend it to anybody. Its the best thing I have ever done for me. Having extra pounds to carry around is not safe or healthy. You have to do what is best for you. Most people overweight is because of a food addiction, and the band is very helpful and limiting how much you can eat. I would recommend you get Dr. Ortiz's book about lap band, I think it may help you with alot of questions.
  18. If for some reason they puncture your tubing, then yes, it is repairable. the tubing that goes to the port (the lower half) can be replaced. I have had 3 blind fills and so far good luck. don't worry, it will be fine. Good luck
  19. I agree with Kittycat, my fill doctor always pulls out the fluid I already have in my band to make sure it is not leaking out. I thought all fill doctors did this. I would check with the doctor that just gave you the fill.
  20. Congratulations Alana, Welcome to the bandsters!!! It's a great life! You are on your way to a happier and healthier life. Hope all goes well for you as you just made the best decision ever.
  21. I started sleeping on my stomach and side about 1 week later. I cannot sleep on my back!
  22. I have a 4 cc band and today I went for my 4th fill. I now have a total of 3.5cc in my band.
  23. I went for a fill about 1 1/2 weeks ago. For about 1 week I had great restriction. Then I started noticing that nothing was getting stuck, not even bread. I have not been able to eat bread for several months! Now I'm worried that maybe I have a leak somewhere, I understand the restriction not being as tight, but to be able to eat bread again???
  24. Maybe that is what he meant on the muscle/fat. I don't know. Would be nice to find out forsure. I have been told my many that muscle weights more, but maybe it is just the size, I don't know. Would be nice to find out forsure. I was just repeating what I read. I bought my book from Amazon also since OCC was out. Best book ever!
